  1. I live about 5 minutes away from National Harbor (just across the bridge), so this will be fun to watch go up. Additionally, while at first it may seem like an odd place to put it, given the distance from DC itself, they're looking to break ground on a brand new Casino at the Harbor this summer which should draw crowds when it opens. http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/trafficandcommuting/april-hearing-likely-on-mgm-national-harbor-casino-project-could-break-ground-in-summer/2014/02/20/a4aedd7c-9a3c-11e3-b88d-f36c07223d88_story.html Past that, there are a ton of really great restaurants in National Harbor, plus the Gaylord National hosts conventions and events consistently enough to bring people over there. The only thing that sucks is parking, it can be incredibly expensive and a pain to find.
  2. For you, perhaps. But the restraints in each car are locked to the largest person in the car. Thus, if you have a larger person or a person who requires the restraints to be at the bare minimum locking position it is much easier to slide out for smaller persons. If they were to replace the restraints with individualized lapbars or even something as simple as the locking mechanism being on a per-row basis it'd be slightly safer for smaller kids.
  3. My bucket list is getting really long guys...like really long. Really hoping to get in on the next Japan trip!
  4. I'm thrilled this is coming to Steam. Makes my life significantly easier because I didn't bother to back the project when it was new because I don't trust kickstarter programs, regardless of how well backed and promoted they are. I can wait and see if this is actually something that is worth purchasing, and then have it on my computer in a matter of a few hours if I deem it worth to spend the money. I've used Steam for years and trust Valve as a developer. They've yet to do anything that bothers me in any major way as a customer and they seem to genuinely want to make a good experience for their users. Besides, Steam sales are pretty much the best thing ever!
  5. ^^ Yeah I saw that and didn't really look into it. Nice find! What do you think of Hamatora so far? Its a newer IP (started last year) so it has a lot of room to grow.
  6. Perhaps instead of twitter you could do a featured store item of the week/day/month? The store isn't a very prominent part of the site, and I can understand not wanting to throw it constantly in people's faces, but I feel that might be a good use of the space and it might help sell extra things to keep the lights on around here.
  7. I think I'm going to end up being in the minority here, but I prefer option 2. I feel like the twitter feed clutters up the page more than is necessary especially with the two feeds directly below the slideshow and the rotating announcement links just above it. I do however prefer the size of option 1's slide show, it feels about the right size on my monitors (24", 1920x1080 resolution). Option 2's slideshow really does dominate the page, and I'm not a huge fan of that. To keep the image size right though I understand why it is larger. I would also prefer a font on the navigation that better matches the rest of the page. The typewriter font just looks/feels out of place, if that makes sense. I am totally digging the new design though, great work so far!
  8. Even though I mostly read, I really appreciate the job you guys do with this site. One day I hope to more directly support you guys by going on a trip, but for the time being my Club TPR membership will hopefully suffice! Merry Christmas to everyone here on TPR!
  9. I've been wondering where a thread like this was, glad to see someone dig it up! I don't read Manga, not yet anyways... I do watch a bit of Anime, so far I've watched: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Deathnote Code Geass (still need to watch movies) Neon Genesis Evangelion (including 1.11, 2.22, and 3.33) Hunter x Hunter Dragon Ball (as well as Z and GT) Bleach Gurren Lagann Attack on Titan Majestic Prince Makai Ouji - Devil and Realist Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East Puella Magi Madoka Magica (not the movies yet) Full Metal Alchemist Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Gargantia on the Verdous Planet Toward the Terra Sword Art Online Blue Exorcist 07 Ghost Demon King Daimao Arata the Legend Some of those shows are still on-going, but I'm up to date on almost all of them with the exception of Bleach which I am woefully behind (I stopped watching consistently after the filler arc following Aizen's defeat). Current season shows: Yozakura Quartet Arpeggio of Blue Steel Gundam Build Fighters Blaz Blue Beyond the Boundary Kill la Kill Nagi no Asukara Valvrave the Liberator Strike the Blood Log Horizon This season my favorite shows (in order) are Kill la Kill, Yozakura Quartet, and Log Horizon. My top 5 are Eva, Deathnote (season 1 only), Hakkenden, Gargantia, and Toward the Terra. If Kill la Kill keeps it up though it'll crack my top 5 by the time its done! I'm considering picking up the manga for 07 Ghost as I want to see what else happens in that story, but I'm not sure if I have it in me right now to start up manga.
  10. This really makes me rethink how I view Mexico as a travel destination, thank you so much for posting this! I look forward to seeing the rest, this is fantastic
  11. That's an interesting concept, kind of like being catapulted almost. I like it.
  12. That corkscrew is going to be sweet. Really looking forward to seeing this ride progress - its on my bucketlist!
  13. That's really cool! Hope he gets a chance to really expand it further, it seems like given the time and space (and money of course) he'd be really great at this!
  14. I think this sums up how I feel about it too. I love Cedar Point, I grew up with the park and watched them add any additions from the past 20 years with my own eyes. I've seen the park grow from no B&Ms to three, from viewing Magnum as the baddest coaster to being eclipsed by Millennium and Dragster. I've even worked there for a summer, so Cedar Point will always have a special place in my heart. That said, I haven't been able to go with my family as much as I've gotten older. My parents are no longer big thrill ride folks like they used to be. Any time I go to Cedar Point and have a great time nowadays its been with friends, not family. I've only been to Disney twice, but the times I've visited I've mostly enjoyed. That said, they were both with family, and both visits everyone found things they really loved. I was a huge Space Mountain fan, my mom loved the Tiki room, my dad enjoyed Peter Pan, and my sisters both loved Dumbo. My parents had their best time at Epcot, and had a lot of fun walking around taking in the park. Me and my sisters preferred Spaceship Earth. There's such a great variety at Disney that its hard not to find something for everyone.
  15. This is a short drive away from me, so I'd be interested to see how this takes shape if nothing else. I don't think legoland parks are aimed at my demographic though
  16. I too am going to jump on the Cedar Fair bandwagon. I've only been to two Six Flags parks (the now deceased Six Flags Ohio and Six Flags America) but when I compare those few visits to my time spent at Cedar Fair parks, there really doesn't seem to be much to praise Six Flags on. That said, I still want to go to a few Six Flags parks to ride some of their more intense rides (Bizzaro, NTAG, IRAT, El Toro, etc).
  17. ^ Yeah, I've seen that graphic pop up a few times. As an aside, if you want an Eevee, I've got almost a box full of them from breeding. Just pick a nature and shoot me your friend code. I can ship one out to ya whenever! My save file is complete and I have ~80 folks in my friends list, so if there are any pokemon you want (I have Y version) in particular let me know! Right now I'm focusing on Battle Chateu and Maison, getting as many BP to get items for a more competitive team. I'm running: Ampharos - Calm Arcanine - Modest Aegislash - Relaxed Absol - Naughty Lucario - Adamant Dragalge - Calm I bred them all myself and they have near perfect IVs and are fully EV trained. I have a few that I'll need to redo later on down the road, but right now I'm content farming points with these guys. I beat the game with this team: Chesnaught Aegislash Noivern Dragalge Malamar Pyroar Game is a ton of fun! If anyone needs any pokemon for breeding or has questions about breeding, IVs, EVs, natures, or characteristics I should be able to answer them.
  18. I'm super excited for X and Y as well. Can't wait! Me and a bunch of my buddies are going to the midnight release at our local gamestop. If anyone wants my 3DS friend code to add PM me. Right now I have Fire Emblem: Awakening, Persona 4, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Saturday I'll have Pokemon Y!
  19. I'm confident people would pay good money to see that! Fundraiser for first riders this year...?
  20. ^ The other option is they could remove those huge game stands across from Gemini. They never seem to be terribly busy, though the arcade gets decent traffic. Plus with Camp Snoopy nearby it'd be an easy way to keep the kids entertained while Mom or Dad waits in line for Parent Swap. There is a lot of under utilized space on that midway, I'm sure they're already looking at it for different reasons. Edit: After looking at some satellite images there's actually quite a few options the park could take with various areas. The few glaring points the park may look to upgrade in the near future (in my opinion) are the Cadillac Cars and Blue Streak dead end area, Corkscrew and Golds dorms, and the aforementioned Gemini midway. Looking at the maps, you can see there is a ton of space that is ripe for the picking if both Corkscrew and Golds are removed, in addition to that they could use the land all the way up to the Magnum queue line for an attraction or two. The Cadillac cars area next to raptor at the front of the park have been rumored to be on and off the chopping block. I could see them doing a nice area in that space in addition to looping the path toward the Marina entrance as well as refurbishing/repurposing/demolishing the old Pirate ride building. Finally with the Gemini midway in addition to the games area I mentioned, I could see it being likely that they remove the two or three little flats for kids that are older and using that entire space - while relocating the queue of Jr. Gemini and re-theming it to fit Camp Snoopy better. I also looked at Frontier town, but the only space that could really be messed with is the stuff by Thunder Canyon. Given that it would probably be a huge pain to remove and that its a fairly popular water ride I can't see them getting rid of it any time soon. If they were to remove Mine Ride though it would open up a huge plot of land in the area by the lagoon. Point being is that there is plenty of space for them to choose from. The future looks good for the park.
  21. Thought I'd post this for anyone who went on the Japan trip, you can play as the character from the drum game! Its too bad this'll never reach US soil, it'd be pretty great to play I'd say
  22. ^ I think you're making some rather large assumptions. There's no way we know what exactly the budget was for the ride in the first place, let alone if its over or under. The two days I spent at the park this year the lines were full for all three rides. In addition, when I worked Thunder Canyon it was rare to have a line on any of the water rides unless it was sweltering hot. People prefer to queue up for coasters and thrill rides over water rides during a normal day at the park. Not dismissing your disappointment, I personally am not a fan of the ride either, but you should probably not make assumptions like that.
  23. It looks awesome! Great work here, are you going to send the pics out to the Sea World PR folks? I'm sure they'd love to share it.
