I've been going to Cedar Point since I was a baby in the womb, so hopefully I can attempt to answer some of your questions Not necessarily. A lot of people flock right for Raptor because its right next to the entrance. Maverick and Millennium Force are good ones to hit early on because of how quickly the lines grow later in the day. Depending on the weather when you go Dragster can be at max capacity and lines will be pretty quick, or it could be slow and you could be looking at 2+ hours. Sandusky weather is extremely variable because of its proximity to the lake. The Maverick video that TPR has posted is a great example of what can happen within an hour of being at the park. Weather is crazy up there. Schools are still in on the aforementioned dates. Yes, you can get it all in on one day. It just takes a little bit of planning on your part. My suggestion is to park around back before the park opens, tell the people at the ticket booth you're going to the Marina or Soak City and they'll wave you by. Park back by Gemini and Magnum, enter through the gates by Challenge Park. From there I'd suggest moving back toward Maverick, then Millennium. At that point you could go check out the lines for Wild Cat and Iron Dragon. If they're not bad go for it, if they are I'd suggest hitting up Dragster, Corkscrew and Magnum. After Dragster and Magnum I'd go hit up Gemini, Cedar Creek Mine Ride and Meanstreak, then hop the train to the front of the park. After that go to Mantis, then walk up the main midway to Raptor and Blue Streak. Once you've gotten the B&M's out of the way go toward maXair and hit up Wicked Twister and Disaster Transport. That should be everything. You can also google "Cedar Point Strategy Guide" and I'm sure you'll get a good bit of hits. I can't say I've ever seen them do that. However the policy for the coasters is they close the lines and then run the coasters until the lines are empty. So as long as you're in line before they close the line you will get your ride. For Cedar Point, Famous Daves is right on the Marina and is a quick walk from the park. Another option is TGI Fridays over by Breakers. If you want to stay in the park The Midway Market is alright, Johnny Rockets isn't too bad, and Game Day Grille is pretty good. I can't say if you should try one or the other, I'm visiting Kings Island for the first time this summer. I will say however that Cedar Point would be more fun and less stressful on you if you spread it out over two days, the park is huge and if you wanted to try some of the flats you might want that second day. Also, weekends are going to be busier than weekdays in early June due to the schools, so keep that in mind. Hope that helps in some way and have fun!

I'm preferential to Stephen Lynch and Lisa Lampanelli. I also tend to enjoy the guys from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, but after awhile their gimmicks start to drag on me. Then there's the usual Colbert and Stewart, I can't live without political comedy (especially in such close proximity to DC). Anyone see Ron White's new special on Comedy Central that aired this past weekend? I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but from what I understand its worth the hour or so.

Agreed. Crosby is a good player, but sometimes... *sigh*

They did that all last year in the playoffs, I'm also not a fan of their building. Its pretty scary going in there at times if you're from the away team. Go Pens!

Planned Trips This Summer
Yamez replied to Homeboy23's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This weekend I'm off to Kings Dominion, then a week after that I'm headed to Cedar Point. After that I'll be making trips to Kings Island and Holiday World, no other confirmed plans that I know of. -
This thread has taken an amusing turn. I always found it entertaining when Gay Day at Cedar Point fell on my birthday, I always felt so special

Me at prom last June. This was taken on valentine's day, we pull off the straight thing so well...its funny, random people that meet us would think we're dating! I felt I needed a photo for comic relief, I think my cat was contemplating how to bite my ear, because shortly after that he did so. I hate that freaking cat. The last two were taken with cell phones, so the quality kinda blows.

Europa Park Discussion Thread
Yamez replied to Ultracoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That third picture is AWESOME. Thanks a lot for posting this! I don't think I'll be able to get over to Europe any time soon, but when I do this ride is going to be top on my list! -
How Old Are You & What Was Your 1st Coaster?

The first that I can remember was Junior Gemini at Cedar Point (and that's one hardcore coaster!). -

^^That night time pictures is gorgeous, I would love to see some more night time pictures of this ride. ^Nice review, can you compare it to any other coasters? I'm interested to see how this compares to say, Maverick or Fahrenheit. -
^^^^Aye matinee's are a good idea, I just think they mess with the mentality of the teams. Good for the crowd, not so good for the players. And as a Caps fan, I say GO PENS (although if we come up against you later on in the series, I'm sorry I'm rooting for the Caps). Freakin Flyers.

I feel the need to express my love for the Capitals in this thread. I still am more than irritated that the rangers managed to hold us to their one goal lead, but it was a good game - hopefully Saturday will go much better for us. Either way it will be a good series, and I can't wait to see how it will end up! By the way, does anyone else find it almost unholy that some playoff games are matinee's? *shakes head* it just ain't right.

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Yamez replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The stadium has been used for the past couple years as different shows. Once the Dolphin show was removed they had a high dive show, then it became the BMX show they use today. I don't think its going to be around very long personally, but then again they still have the old IMAX theater as an Ice Skating show, so you never know I suppose. I know last season there were some markings on the ground in the parking lot behind Disaster Transport, but those might have been for the fireworks on Independence Day. -
Worlds of Fun Says "Play My Games"
Yamez replied to colerock's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I laughed, if I was going to WoF this year I'd play your games haha! I'll be working at CP though, perhaps our game department will do something creative... -
Seems to be working fine for me Robb. As for the trips themselves I'm hoping to eventually go on one myself, and the Japan trip looked like it was a blast! Working full time this summer and through the school year (paid internships are AWESOME) hopefully I'll be able to afford a trip for 2011! James

Mark Shapiro on CBS News
Yamez replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The company has potential to do well, and coming off confident is the right thing to do. However, there are some parks in the chain that are really dragging them down. If you read the section below the reporter actually makes a comment that is very true in my area (Washington, DC): given the choice between Six Flags America or Kings Dominion - most choose Kings Dominion. From what I understand SFKK is in a similar situation, although there isn't any direct competition. I like Shapiro, I sincerely hope he manages to get the company through this and actually make Six Flags somewhere I'd like to visit. -
I went ahead and emailed you Sean, hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks for the responses, I appreciate them. I'm not sure if what I'm offering is necessarily more of the same, because its taking a concept and changing it slightly. However, it probably feels like more of the same - only time will tell. I'll give more information for anyone that wants to know, I just don't want to post here (after reading through the TOS and such I'm not a regular poster so posting a link or passing around my ideas isn't such a good thing yet). I guess the best thing to do would be to PM me if you'd like to know more, or if Robb says its alright I'd post more of what I plan to do - and you guys can be the judge.

I was reading the About TPR page and got curious as to how Robb and Elissa managed to make this site such a huge success. I realize its been around for years, but was it mostly word of mouth? Did you advertise anywhere? I'm building my own website, and I'm wondering how to go about finding members. I read though this thread: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=946&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20 And some others, and I realize it takes some time. Any suggestions for an aspiring website creator?

I would first define the DC area. I live right next to Washington DC (Alexandria VA) and the closest park to my knowledge is Six Flags America (which is in terrible shape). If you're willing to drive 2 hours or so further south I'd go down towards Richmond and hit up Kings Dominion, or even Busch Gardens Europe in Williamsburg. You could also take a stop in Ocean City, the beach is nice (although a bit cold at the moment), they have numerous little parks in that area and a fun boardwalk with games and attractions. On your way down you should be able to hit several Pennsylvania parks such as Hershey Park, Waldameer, and Dorney. I'm not sure what other parks are on your way, but those are the ones from the top of my head. Hope this helps, James

Hi guys! My names is James, I live in Alexandria, VA (right next to Washington DC). I'm 18 years old, a freshman in college majoring in Business Administration. I am a frequent poster on thepointol, but I love reading your boards and other coaster sites! Eventually I want to save up to go on one of these trips (perhaps after college!) I grew up in Toledo, OH (so I'm familiar with a lot of the Midwest parks!) and I have family in Sandusky (I'm a CP nerd!). This summer I'll be working at Cedar Point on Thunder Canyon, so feel free to stop by and have a spin if you come and visit
