  1. I would really, really love to make a joke about a babysitter and Robb. But I will refrain! On a less entertaining note, does anyone know if Flight of Fear has on-ride photos back? I know Kings Island has had theirs restored, wondering if KD has done the same.
  2. Some awesome pictures, I absolutely love the picture of the Maverick train getting ready to head into the Stengle Dive. All of the pictures are so bright and colorful... Thank you so much for posting, its nice to see the park since I can't get out there any time soon.
  3. No one can confirm nor deny the addition of trims yet. They have not been added yet, if at all. The only thing that is confirmed at the moment is the existence of new hardware on the drop, currently it is not affecting the ride's performance.
  4. Out of curiosity, why would replacing magnetic trims with mechanical ones make any difference? It's going to slow the ride down either way, so what would be the difference...? I'd think the magnetic ones would reduce wear and tear.
  5. I pulled the specs off of rcdb.com: Looks like a fun family coaster if nothing else.
  6. Holy trim brakes batman! Seriously though, that's a LOT of trims.
  7. I just hate Vortex's turn before the block. As my friend Mikel would put it: That turn is the DEVIL.
  8. The limits of RCT3 are disappointing, the coaster itself was excellent. It could have been a whole lot better if you could have gotten some better banking (but that's not your fault, its a limitation with the game engine itself). I'm also not a fan of the RCT3 Intamin Storm runner trains, I think they're too blocky (again, not your fault). Definately a 10/10 in terms of scenery, design, and overall layout. Just don't like the visual of the trains and banking. Nice job.
  9. I just saw this park with the bump, and I have to say its fantastic. Good luck over at NE!
  10. Loved the coaster, but my personal preference is Cobra Rolls over Batwings. Still though, awesome job!
  11. I think the addition of any new attraction to the ride side of things would be a great investment on the park's side. If they want to add a new family spinning coaster, more power to them. If they want to add a 300+ ft Intamin rocket coaster I'm down for that too. Thomas Town is going to be a great addition to the park, and I really hope this marks a turning point for them. Beggars can't be chooser's folks.
  12. Magnum XL-200 blows me away. Ejector air all the way!
  13. Now that is exciting! I hope all goes well, and I really wish I had enough money to participate in the auction...
  14. I can't disagree with the above points. It doesn't make me not want more variety though
  15. ^ That's kinda Mcjaco's point there! It's his coaster, let him make it the way he wants. He could create some rediculous backstory that says Intamin gave B&M the patent to their designs and train styles for this one in a kind project. Guess what? It's his creation! Let him do as he pleases, just because it doesn't fit your definition of a B&M doesn't mean it still can't be one. Love the project, looking forward to seeing more!
  16. That is a fair statement. The problem I have with that board in particular is they don't recognize the difference between a mistake on the manufacturer's part and a mistake on Cedar Point's part. That then leads to lots of folks angry at the wrong group for the wrong reasons. And I agree with your above point. I'm just chuckling at the start of the outrage yet again. That's all.
  17. It does indeed. Ever since the ride was built I was always wondering what the big deal was. I was much younger then though I grew up right next to Cedar Point, so my perspective is a bit odd. I've always thought the European coasters were cool and used terrain to great effect. I'm just very much used to the U.S.'s thought process, "Hmm...I want to build this. Lets do it!" versus what seems to be the European thought process, "Hmm...I want to build this. How can we do it within the limits?" In my opinion you guys are far more creative when it comes to ride placement and experience. Not knocking all the U.S. parks, just giving credit where credit is due Nice TR
  18. I've never been outside of the US, so I'm curious - where does Stealth rank for you? The general ride experience, etc. I'll be honest, I'm failing to see the fun factor of getting launched up a very small top hap and coming back down. I think in this case, bigger is better.
  19. They would be valid points if not for every ride that Cedar Point builds (opening late or not) ends up like this. It's laughable at best. I'm no expert on ride building, but I would think that the amount of snow and cold weather they had would have an adverse effect on how quickly the concrete dried. I think that alone would push the timing back on everything else by a pretty good margin. And trust me, I'm all for Cedar Point moving away from Intamin. They need more variety.
  20. Go visit the pointbuzz forums and read the end of the Shoot the Rapids thread: "I Knew in the back of my head Shoot The Rapids woudnt open opening day,Its just another bad thing with Intamin,I agree get another ride company,I think also they should pull all the Shoot The Rapid Promo Commercials on Television,What a Dissapointment." "5 Days before the park opens, and still no height requirement yet. Sounds like they are on the ball this year...Smacks forhead... Has intiman ever built an attraction that has not had problems or delays in opening in time? This is a simple water flume ride, and they can't even get this right. If I were a park owner, I think I would use another company next time. Maybe they should have used arrow/S&S." And more!
  21. Problems with an Intamin?! Never!!! I'm not bitter that the ride isn't going to open, I'm more entertained by the fact that yet another Intamin ride has yet another problem. Don't get me wrong, I love their rides, I just think people put a little too much faith that Intamin rides will run *perfectly*. Yes, for all we know it could be an issue with the pumps, or a building didn't get finished on time, I'm just laughing at all the folks that are freaking out over this.
  22. ^ Fairly certain no B&M coasters are named Wicked Twister or Volcano, I believe those are both Intamin. Correct me if I'm wrong. 1) Montu 2) Afterburn 3) Raptor 4) Alpengeist 5) Great Bear
  23. My jaw dropped. That is, quite frankly, amazing. Disney has really upped the bar with this!
  24. I can speak from experience, polite but firm only works to an extent. We're trained to keep that tone, but eventually things do come out. The job often times can be stressful, dealing with the GP, their children that refuse to think that they're just not tall enough to ride, and the angry parents that follow suit can get very grating on your nerves. It may have just been a bad day for the ride operators (this is not an excuse, nor do I condone the actions of the ride op), maybe check back another time and things may be better. (P.S. I still think the ride ops acted like crap! Just trying to give folks some reasoning behind their actions.)
