  1. Its more depressing to see the average weight of Americans that high. But if your weight is causing you problems and preventing you from doing things that you'd like to do, the park shouldn't have to cater to you. You need to work on you.
  2. ^ You're effectively doing what it sounds like these restraints are doing, which is pushing you into your seat. If it works, sweet.
  3. Some of those images are absolutely stunning Jds03, any way you'd be willing to send a high-res version out for some of them as wall paper images? Those are truly fantastic!
  4. Last year on the 4th it was packed to the point where Magnum had an hour wait, and that was hitting interval pretty consistently. Our line spilled out into the midway as did Dragster, Maverick, and Millennium. I can't hope to guesstimate what crowds will be like this year, but if last year was any indication it's gonna be packed.
  5. You're lucky it wasn't shattered. You have no idea how many phones I picked up last year that were completely destroyed in the low zones! Glad you had a good time
  6. Thank you for the signature kind sir. You have made my day!
  7. Crystal Maze looks AWESOME. Sad to see something like that go, looks significantly more fun than Magiquest! I love these updates, thanks for posting for those of us that can't go. They're appreciated!
  8. Busch Gardens, hands down. Its a gorgeous park, fabulous rides and shows, and extremely friendly staff. KD is ok, but if you prefer quality - Busch Gardens all the way.
  9. It was so very annoying. The day they filmed at Magnum we had to constantly setup our trains so they could get the shots, it was frustrating - not to mention they gave us an hour long line to deal with after they left. Still bitter about that. It was funny though, when he jumped on the railing like that our leadership about died.
  10. I did the math on Falcon (just for kicks), on your page it says its O scale, so that would make Falcon 192 ft tall in person. That is epic sir. Nice job on all of these!
  11. ^ Love your avatar, btw I'm a big Raptor fan, the others I've ridden (Batman, Great Bear) while intense don't last as long for me. I just hate the brake run transition! Bleh.
  12. We need a Snuffleupagus smilie to inidcate sarcasm now. I get the feeling we'd be seeing that a lot! Regardless, trims or not I'm going to ride the ride and I'm fairly certain I'm going to love it. It's still faster than Maverick, and it still has the height factor of Millennium Force. I'll pass judgment after I ride this summer, but I doubt I'll hate the ride, nor will it be the end of my world if it isn't as good as I hope it to be. I advocate working rollercoasters.
  13. Oh Club X...so many good times there. Thanks for the pictures
  14. ^ That's how I view it too. I view an engineering failure as something catastrophic, as in the ride collapsing upon itself or the mechanics just plain not working.
  15. Not really sure what to say on this one. The band certainly used poor judgment to invite that many people on stage, but at the same time we don't know how violent or rowdy the crowd really was. If you were security for that show what would you have done? We can't even fathom that question, there just isn't enough information. Six Flags says one thing, the band says another. Is Six Flags in the right for telling to the band not to perform the next show? Considering the public comments the band said, yes. However, if what the band said is true, then Six Flags should not have lied to the public and just come out and said that they did not want the band to perform. We will never know though...
  16. I don't remember, was the SOB accident related to the engineering of the ride itself vs the day to day maintenance? Because those are two VERY different things.
  17. If they didn't have "something going horribly wrong" then they could only do so many fun things! Then again, I wouldn't mind a ride being based on the concept of flying broomsticks. We almost even have the technology for it! Now if only we can figure out how to combine motocoaster and kuka arms....
  18. ^^^ That's really, really depressing. ^^^^ That's a fair statement. They always told us that it was for safety reasons. I just roll with what I'm told And I wholeheartedly agree with the not goofing off part. More crew members can make queues move so much faster, but if they're just socializing....yeah. Edit: I'm pretty sure Raptor only has entrance during ERT and some mornings. I had a few friends that worked there and they didn't have entrance as a consistent position. To that extent Disaster Transport also has temporary entrance, my roommate last year worked there.
  19. Working at the ride. On platform on Maverick there are four ride hosts, plus one in controls. Then you have one at crowd (station entrance) and one at entrance (queue entrance). Mantis has five on platform, one in controls. The last is at crowd, I'm unsure if they have added entrance back to many of the rides. If they have then you can add one more ride host to all the coasters except Maverick, Millennium Force, and Top Thrill Dragster.
  20. ^ Holy crap sprayer action. ^^ I'm not sure I understand your question, I'll try to answer it best I can though. In terms of how many people are trained at each ride its only limited to how many people management finds. There is no cap on how many people can be trained at a location. On a per-ride basis, each ride has different systems and different manufacturer requirements for safety reasons. Maverick has seven crew members at any given time, Mantis also generally has seven. I can't speak for Top Thrill Dragster or Millennium Force as I was not trained at either location. Those numbers are if every ride position is filled. On days when the rides aren't running at full capacity those numbers can go down. For example: Magnum XL-200 normally runs a three train operation, which requires there to be seven crew members working on platform. If operations go down to two trains the crew can eliminate one position, and if again reduced to one train operation can even cut another position. Most of the coasters and rides are similar in this system at the park, but there is a minimum amount of staffing per-ride based on manufacturer requirements.
  21. Yes, I worked on Maverick a couple of times last season.
  22. I'd also like to point out that the Poker Face cover is actually the version Gaga sings live for the most part. Its a very rare occasion I hear the studio version live. Oh, and checking in - total Gleek. I love Kurt's character, and Mercedes...yeah just another gay guy here
  23. Trust me, you'd know when you're launched. A ride op has to come down to the tunnel and make sure everyone is alright. Kyle, correct me if I'm wrong but then we had to manually launch the train from the panel in the tunnel. If I'm remembering this correctly.
