Computer illiterate people that think they know things

That's just mean. -
"New York" was really well done though. You can't have a show stopper in every show. Also, balls in mouth.

Geauga Lake Discussion Thread

That's where I was going with the Six Flags side of things, you said it far better than I could have. A lot of hate for Kinzel and Cedar Fair it seems eh? I honestly don't think they were going to lose any money even if Six Flags had decided to retain the property. Think about it, what did GL have that could even compete with Cedar Point or Kings Island? Villain? Raging Wolf Bobs? Dominator? The list of attractions was just pitiful compared to the offerings both north and south of the park. -

What more proof do you need then the fact that it happened? If the park had been financially viable for Cedar Fair it would still be open today. Six Flags sold it because it wasn't financially viable for them. It was bad planning on all parties involved at most stages of the park. To buy the park, and to then pick and choose rides from it to remove and move to your better parks I would think would be more expensive in the short term than leaving them and seeing what happens in the long term. If Robb's example applies to any large ride (See Dominator, Possessed, Firehawk, and Thunderhawk) it would cost them quite a bit to move those rides out if they didn't already see that the park was going to be heading southward. I'm fairly certain this has been discussed in great detail earlier on in this thread though. Its sad, yes. But business is just that, business. -

The funny thing is, the backlash hasn't been nearly as bad as folks seem to be making out to be (from a PR standpoint). Yes, there were a good bit of sad people in the area, but for the most part folks have moved on with their lives and don't seem to have nearly as much regret about the whole thing as some of the enthusiasts do. There is, maybe, a news story every four months about the park and whats going on with it and the SBNO rides within. The locals aren't raging or complaining anymore (and that phase only lasted up until the waterpark side re-opened iirc). The park was nice, yes. Did it have potential? Probably. Was it financially viable? No. Big Dipper falls into pretty much all of those same categories as the park did. Just time to move on, in my opinion. -
I would LOVE this. I love my iPad!

Maverick at Cedar Point also has it, but not for the front seat. They only offer a picture there. -
Its been awhile since I've checked this thread. Last time I posted I was openly gay to just close friends. Now, I pretty much could care less. I have a government job (which seems to be turning into a career), going to school, and I have a decent social life (can has moar friendz in DC area?). Last summer when I worked at Cedar Point I got a LOT more comfortable with myself, versus in high school....not so much. So many supportive people there, all the way up the food chain. The other thing that was really encouraging was getting myself into my first real relationship with another guy. I'd had a few on-off things here and there in high school, but nothing like this. It ended kinda badly, but the guy was a jerk and I learned something. So all around I think it was a win. Glad to see so many people are still here, and if anyone wants to hang out in the DC area just PM me. A lot of my friends are still up in OH, or are in school (online courses fail). Moving back to VA has seriously hurt my social life!

To answer your question: I want to be able to take better photos of parks and things, I also live next to DC so Id really like to be able to go out in the city and capture the things I see and do. Particularly at night. Budget is reasonably around $600-700. Thanks for the responses so far guys!

I'm looking into starting into some Photography as a hobby and had a few questions regarding it: (I checked the search function and there didn't seem to be any answers for these questions) I have little to no experience, so everything is new to me, please be gentle Whats a good starter camera to go with? I'm thinking starting out simple is smart, with features to get a little bit more complex (digital camera of some kind I *think*). Price range would be nice to be reasonable, but I'm willing to splurge a bit. What are some good general tips for taking shots? I've looked around the web, and gotten some advice but I'd like to ask you folks. When it comes to photography I've seen some stunning pictures here. Lighting, angle, and positioning all seem important, but everything is slightly overwhelming to read through. I'll be taking pictures of just about anything really, no focus on any one thing. What is a good area to start in to work my way up? Should I just start taking pictures of things I find amusing or interesting or focus on a certain aspect? What is some good editing software that is easily accessable to 'clean up' photos? Thanks for your time and advice

Backlot's helix has always been intense to me. Then again, I'm the guy that randomly greys out on Millennium Force's first overbank. Go figure, right? I'm really looking forward to Medevial Macabre, if its anything like the Scarezone up at Cedar Point it should be fantastic -

That happens every once in awhile, there was a fault within the hydraulics room. It'll probably be back up fairly quickly, no worries. Last year when I was working they had forklifts and things in there all the time, beats me what they're doing. -

Yamez replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't a lot of the animals brought to Sea World either loaned to from other parks, born there, or brought to the park to be nursed back to health. If they can't be nursed back to health they keep the animals. Perhaps I'm wrong though. -

^^ Cedar Fair didn't install either Flight of Fears, I know they fixed the one at Kings Dominion. Not sure about Kings Island. -
Crystal Sands Amusement Park [RCT3]
Yamez replied to Yamez's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
October 31, 1998 Sorry about the delay in updates, things got busy very quickly as soon as the construction crews arrived. I've got a ton of things to show you today, with details on the two coasters being built and a number of other rides! First off I'll show you the construction site for the children's area: Just bunches of dirt and sand now. But there are a few structures growing out of it! Pieces have already started arriving! I'm told this is where the coaster will be going. The two buildings are the station and the on-ride photo booth. Getting your picture on the coaster with mom or dad is going to be a great way to remember your visit! Here's some concept art for the children's area, it will feature a small rodeo marry-go-round, a spiral slide themed to a rattle snake, and the family coaster "Gunslinger" Gunslinger is going to be great for attracting families. Standing only 45ft tall, its pretty easy for the younger ones to tackle. It has a top speed of 35 mph though, so it still gives quite a thrill! This is where the GCI twister is going. They've already started digging to get ready to pour footers! "Untamed" is the custom GCI twister ordered for the park. It features an 85ft spiraling first drop, 10 moments of airtime, a top speed of 51 mph, and various crossovers and head choppers! Its sure to thrill the masses! The other view of "Untamed", showing off its twisted layout. The twisted first drop. This is where you hit the max speed of 51mph! The overall layout of "Untamed" Current progress of the entire construction site. We're getting there! I'll have some more details later on the other rides coming to the park, and quick construction update when I swing by the offices. A.R. -
I've twittled my twanger for too long watching other folks' parks and commenting on them. So I've decided to start a new park, and offer it up to the TPR greats. All suggestions are welcome, I have a lot of learning to do, especially when it comes to terraforming and structure building/themeing. With the introductions out of the way, I'll give you the story! I hope you enjoy it! July 19th, 1998 Hello there, my name is Alexai Rouvert. I live in the city of Cortez, Colorado and just to the northeast of here a section of desert just went up for sale! I've gone ahead and bought it out for a fairly cheap price and I'm planning on making a small amusement park to hopefully draw some of the tourists from the nearby Mesa Verde National Park, Monument Valley, and Four Corners tourist destinations. Hopefully if all goes well I can make a nice profit and make Cortez a premiere tourist destination in CO! If I can get big enough perhaps the city will be willing to give me some tax breaks! I've decided to name the park Crystal Sands Amusement Park, as the sand around here has an almost crystalline quality about it. It glitters so prettily! Here's a few pictures of the land: A beautiful mesa juts out toward the back of the plot. Its quite high up here, isn't it? The height varies so much, I lost my breath frequently while touring the property! Even on top of the Mesa the land just can't stay completely flat! Construction is slated to begin soon, but here's what I have planned: Several small carnival rides, bought from a traveling fair that stops near town every year. A small family roller coaster, from the ride manufacturer Vekoma. A custom built wooden roller coaster, to be my flagship ride built by the wonderful folks over at Great Coasters International. I think it'll make great use of the terrain! I'll have some pictures of construction and the concept art for the coasters tomorrow, but for now here's a picture of the entryway that's already been built: This will house our offices and the small path leading through it is where you'll be going through to enter the park! A.R. Thoughts?
