  1. Was at Cedar Point yesterday, didn't go in the park but hung out at the marina and grilled at my family's boat. Park seemed pretty busy, all the lines visible from the outside were packed. The rain and storms messed with the rides a lot so they were up and down all evening making the lines worse. Cleared up around 8pm and that lasted till midnight or so. Great fireworks show by the point this year, and a weird after-finale esque thing where a bunch of fireworks that didn't get shot off during the show went off about 15 minutes after the show had ended.
  2. I sincerely hope its not the arcade! That place is so much fun on rainy days
  3. As someone who does security every day I have to ask, do you have any idea as to how much work it is to try and detect things like this? You can't just wave a magic wand and catch every scumbag that wants to do harm/create chaos. You can only do your best to gather information and execute your standards as effectively as possible. I'm confident Disney did their best, and these incidents (with zero injuries) should have zero bearings on how people view the parks. They caught the idiot responsible, and that's the important thing.
  4. Fun fact: The causeway everyone drives over is actually a bridge. That said, to the right of the causeway is the actual land (and some very nice houses) that the park is connected to. Its actually rather pretty, and if the causeway is super backed up you can use it to get in (there is a parking gate at the end of it as well.
  5. That looks amazing. How much for one of these in my backyard?
  6. I was secretly hoping for a fountain. Still though, I wonder about what they're going to do with the old food stands. The blog post hints at them changing things up over there.
  7. I could tell you that, but then I'd be lying. That said, you should bring that park back over here sometime. I know you restarted it recently, and your work is top notch. As for the OP, they both have their good and bad features. I personally play RCT3 more than 2, mainly because I really hate the limitations that you can do with the CS (fixed number of objects) with it. RCT3 on the other hand lets you use as much as you want, but you can ruin your own framerate if you're not careful. You can't go wrong either way.
  8. Just wanted to chime in and say how cool this is. I don't have the patience for these kinds of projects, but they're always awesome to look at. It looks great so far, can't wait till you're finished!
  9. Happy to see my top two coasters on there (Maverick, I305). Verbolten appearing at 104 seems like a nice spot for it, but I think it could move up a bit in future years. Millennium Force isn't really all that great past the first drop. Its fun, but not spectacular. I'm curious about the Backlot Stunt Coaster's positions in the poll. They're all exactly the same coaster, yet they're ranked 7+ slots apart. Any ideas?
  10. Its hard not to be excited for the first coaster since 2007, and especially one that is so photogenic. Regardless of how it rides, it'll certainly make for some great photo ops and ads for the park.
  11. They seem to be working on the inclined dive loop today, given the pieces nearby and position of the crane. Looks like the entrance to the inversion is already up. If they keep this up, they'll be at the MCBR by the end of the week!
  12. Not that its exactly the same, but I heard they built this ride called Windseeker...
  13. Second keyhole is going up right on schedule: Edit: Beat me to it!
  14. You're forgetting a few things: 1) The success for this park will rely on Ed Hart's ability to get the park back into usable shape. People will not flock to a trashed up park when Holiday World is only a few hours away. 2) KK hasn't been open or upkept for several years. The market may not respond as favorably as Ed Hart would hope, and many customers may be more impressed with what Holiday World has offered in the years that Kentucky Kingdom has been closed. 3) If Ed Hart's company ends up going bankrupt in the deal, you're basically back at square one. You may even have a situation (heaven forbid) like Hard Rock Park did where the ride companies are looking for money - the state would have to either pay that or give the rides back. Then you'd also have to deal with the fair board again and find a new investor for a park that just went bankrupt. Odds are not good here. 4) The park has to open first for it to even be considered a threat to Holiday World. 5) While Holiday World saw a nice boost in attendance and profits when Kentucky Kingdom closed, they were doing just fine when they were open as well. Don't get ahead of yourself. This park has a long way to go.
  15. This is an awesome layout. My only comment is I think that RCT3 really let you down on this one. If you are able to build this in no limits or have someone do it for you it would be absolutely spectacular. You did a great job with the medium you worked with, so kudos!
  16. ^ In fairness it could have ended several pages ago. But they keep coming back. And as someone who ran their own website (albeit for a video game) I can understand Robb's frustration with posts like these. You do have a point though, it does seem to happen quite frequently.
  17. I'm just trying to fathom why this thread even exists. What you're asking is someone to change what they love for your own personal gains. As much as you agree or disagree with me on this, the content Robb produces are firmly in the art category. He shares that with the world, and his own views free of charge. You don't have to pay an admission fee to view 90% of the material on this site, you don't have to go out of your way to enjoy the videos and photos posted from their trips. I just want to emphasize this paragraph. The internet is not a kind place, most news publication websites have far, FAR worse comments than here. I don't see you complaining to them that they should clean up their act. I'mma let you finish, but... Congratulations. You just told the internet that your posts are completely worthless to read. Any other site you would be flamed, ignored, or otherwise trolled. Which leads me into this section right here: Referring to the opening of my post: Frankly I do. This is what Robb does for a living. Telling him that he should change something because you don't like the way it sounds is actually a pretty big insult. Especially to someone who works incredibly hard, and really doesn't hear any feedback like this ever. If he hasn't received comments complaining about the audio before, why should he believe some random person on the internet that he speaks for the community? Ok. Go to a high traffic public forum and show me where the nice people are. I'd love to meet them. Really. I should. I'm sorry, allow me to respectfully introduce myself: I could be far more abrasive than this image, because you just insulted me personally. Do I go out of my to respond to people with those sets of insults? No. I'll be right back and cast a wide net over the users of this community and insult them all at once while using sweeping generalizations to make my argument seem better. Maybe you should be ashamed of yourself, seeing as you basically just sank to - according to you - our level. There is nothing here that says you must be respectful. Normally I'd happily respect your opinion, and just ignore this topic entirely, but this is entire thread is ridiculous. It deserves a far more "abrasive" response than you have been receiving so far. I agree, there is no reason for anyone to be rude and obnoxious at one another. But let me ask you, when you see someone cut another person off on the highway and they honk their horn and are throwing the middle finger at the car that cut them off do you fault that person for getting angry? Do you tell them they should be ashamed of themselves for being angry that someone was a complete tool on the road for nothing but getting to their destination .0000005 seconds faster? You shouldn't have gotten on the soapbox in the first place. When you attack someones livelihood, their creativity, creative control, and the things they enjoy you should expect nothing but an aggressive response. Then folks seemed to have the idea in their head that they could speak for the community. You do NOT represent me, my opinions, my viewpoints, or my personality. Robb has every right to be mad, and now the community does as well.
  18. Raptor is my mother's favorite ride at Cedar Point, when we went to BGW over the summer we rode Alpengeist. After it was over she just looked at me and said, "That was underwhelming". I'm not sure if its just that she's been to a fair share of parks and enjoys the forces, but she is pretty much GP level and she noticed that it was rather forceless. I'm not so sure the GP doesn't dislike the intense rides necessarily, but that they don't really feel the need to re-ride the more intense rides like we do. I can ride I305 for hours on end and love it. My family though? They love it, but they have to catch their breath afterwards. To those who have ridden B&M wing riders: Can you really compare the experiences of an invert to a wingrider? Are they really that similar?
