  1. From the pictures and videos it looks pretty good, but can you post a download so that we can "dig in"?
  2. Wait guys, were getting two steps ahead of ourselves. I need to know RIGHT NOW if the rings are up yet? haha I am very interested to see how this ride turns out, that double spine thing is pretty cool too.
  3. Uh, what? I thought Manta was the first with a MCBR? Maybe you are counting the two separate braking platforms as an mcbr and a brake run but Tatsu definitely does not have an MCBR. Lets just agree to disagree on this one. Vid_W posted some stats a few pages back, they would say that this ride is anything but "forceless" or "not as forceful"
  4. At this point only the tapes will tell, and I hope that I parked within the cameras view so that we can see what happened. Anyways, thanks for keeping up with this project, I guess this minor detour will only allow me to make the project better. I have reassembled most of the supports and have the track hanging in place to be mounted tomorrow. Over four hours to replace the damage, but now I have the supports more accurate! Prior to the break, the supports ran completely vertical and now they will run at a slight angle inwards, more characteristic of the real coaster. Expect an update with incomplete paint on everything, but a completed model soon. Thanks again!
  5. ^I do not know if that directly affected that job, but it was brought to my RA (resident adviser-the boss of the dorm floor) interview and my ride operator interview and I believe it helped in both. The IAAPA interview was a phone interview so it wouldn't really do much, but they did ask what I do on my free time of which I responded make coaster models. Side note, I am scraping all the glue off of the supports so that I can recreate good connections and make them look good. I am making a mess!
  6. ^Ya Sid, pressing the green button is sooooo illegal.
  7. ^Well, I brought it in then walked into the park to the interview, so a handful of coworkers did see the model, most of which also applied for the position. So it could have been for reasons like that. I am not sure, we are pulling video feed on the parking lot to see what really happened. But, the reason I brought it in is because I was applying for a position that a first year ride op normally wouldn't get. So I figured if I bring this in, I would be able to show my passion for the industry and that though I lack experience at the park I make up for it in knowledge in travel, statistics etc. It also helps me stand out, cause that is always good. Do you agree?
  8. We will start with the first set of good news, since no one should start out on a bad note. Good News 1: IT'S BACK! After finals from second semester and taking a class in may, I had no time to get Insane going. But now that summer is in full swing, expect more updates of Insane, Top Thrill and _______ . But now, I have to announce some awful news that still upsets me a little. I wish it were not true, in fact when I first found out I double taked to make sure it was in fact true. Bad News: I was applying for a promotion at Elitches and decided to bring in the model of Insane (since it is 2/2 so far) as reasoning. After the interview, which I hope gets me the job, I returned the model to my car and changed into work clothes to work. After getting back to my car at 10pm, I had found that my car window was forced down into the door and the model was smashed. I am not joking when I say this. It did not melt, hot glue melts at like 200 something degrees, and there is no way the damage that occured or the lowered window happened by an animal. So, unfortunately I have to reconstruct most of the supports, rebend the track and hope to Kraken (#1) that I can restore it to its original shape. So in order to lighten the mood, I have one more piece of good news. Actually TWO! Good News #2-3 I started building the station buildings and all the other decor pieces that come with my models! So far I am very pleased with how everything looks. And the other good news, thanks to mcjaco is, B&M styrene red aquatrax track has been spotted. Just playin, but I did receive some samples of styrene that will hopefully allow me to create my best model yet! WRONG! After taking it out of the car, this is the damage done to it. Weak. Super weak. This is what I got to see after getting off of work. Doesn't look too bad right?
  9. I think you make a great looking model!! Jordan "the other model maker" Darrington
  10. Elitch Gardens Ride Operator!!! I have so much fun at work, it should be illegal.
  11. ^^You are better than I. After looking at the picture further I found 5, silly me. Still don't know where the sixth is though. ^You want me to send a big copy of it?
  12. This was Monday at around 11:00. Keep in mind the park has been open an hour already. See the first picture, I do not know how to make words than a picture than more words etc. I didn't know that, thanks for pointing it out! That is good to know next time I start pointing the finger at copies. Its just too bad that the restraints can't just lock and then stay put, it got so tight by the end of the ride. I thought it was a pretty nice park for sure, and like I said before it was nice for what surrounded it. I haven't been to all that many cedar fair parks though, only CP and Knotts so I can't deny or confirm it as the prettiest. Check out the second picture, it was definitely pretty. ^ and ^^ I wouldn't say that it was a bad coaster by any means, I did ride it more than boomerang haha. I thought that in the front it supplied great airtime and a pretty fun little ride. In the back though it still had the air but just seemed to be getting yanked around every where. If your at the park ride it in both places, but expect a different ride. I am glad that people like my TR, I wasn't exactly sure what I was doing. And I agree, the Patriot picture is pretty cool, if I may say so myself. I spy with my little eye..only two trash cans? Empty.

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy as much as I did! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After doing pretty good my first year of college, I decided to reward myself with a trip to Kansas City to visit Worlds of Fun. I flew into Kansas City and was dismally impressed with the bland airport and the huge storm that was dumping rain outside. However, by the time I got to the park the first day the clouds were gone and it turned out to be a beautiful day. I got to the park around 10:30 and stayed til 10:00, though the park closed at 7:30 for lightning. The next morning I was at the park at 9:45 and left at 4:00 to catch my flight back out. To begin, I thought that the park was fairly pretty considering what it is surrounded by. Most of the grounds were engulfed by mature foliage and the park did a nice job with the themeing, it seemed like the Busch parks but not so perfectly executed. Overall I thought the park was well balanced with thrills offering both big thrills, moderate thrills and stuff to entertain the kids. The layout was a little spacious though and that got annoying as it took so long to walk from one area of the park to the next, especially from Prowler to Patriot. Anyways, this is my first TR and I hope it is cool. I tried to take some cool pictures and stay balanced with what I rode. I failed epically. 32 rides on Prowler and Patriot. The next highest was Mamba with 6. There are also some panoramic pictures, I think they look good and I hope you think the same. ENJOY! I hope I didn't post too many pictures, I don't know if there is a limit. Prowler...is...awesome... Tony Hawk in disguise! I caught you spinning dragons! T wolf and mamba doing what they do. The park looked nice in this area. Sea Dragon at night. Bamboozer at night. If you're going to ride, heaven forbid ride in the front. The back sucks. Mmmm, I don't know about this ride. It had crazy hairtime but it also felt underbanked and just awkward. The 540 helix was lame too. The one thing I didn't like about this ride is that the harnesses just kept tightening. By the end I felt like there was no blood in my legs. Another one of my favorite pictures. I like the girls face. The drop from the train, sorry no train on the course I didn't have a choice. It is lame that the ride rocks and the only pictures you get are either the lift or from the train. The ride packed wicked turns and crazy airtime. It was awesome, and this section was definitely the best. On the second morning after the big rain the night before, the entire area smelled of fresh cut wood and awesome coaster action. GCI knows there stuff. This ride felt like it had a brick on the gas peddle the entire ride. Someone just posted a TR of WoF, and I agree with them. It was a sweet drop, loop, blah blah blah but it just felt an element short. This is one of my favorite pictures I took. I have big pictures of all these, pm if you want one. Lots of supports in this area. Patriot also packed some airtime over the station, thats a different feeling on an invert. The view from the station. The looped packed quite a punch, the zgr was smooth as butter and the immelmann was cool. The big helix really freaked me out, I legitimately was afraid my hands were going to hit the supports. Mamba was pretty fun, with full trains. The front provides some nice air over most of the hills, and the back only over the first two drops.
  14. Just got back from a 2 day trip to the park, and I have to say I love this ride. Over the course of the two days, I got 32 rides in (20 this morning without every leaving my seat) and I thought the first drop was awesome, the airtime was sweet and the speed was crazy. Overall, I really loved this ride, though I do look forward to riding renegade later this summer. Worlds of Fun got a winner though in Prowler!
  15. I don't know if there will be. It isn't like TTD or KK where there is a big hill to climb, this hill is rather short (compared to the others). I think some massive mechanical failure would have to happen, and then there would be a lot of other issues...
  16. They haven't, but they just recently developed a new 4 abreast configuration that utilizes a track similar to that of intamin and b&m meaning that the wheels no longer are on the inside of the track but on the outside. This new design, though the pictures vekoma has released do not match the pictures posted here, could still possibly be the track we are seeing now. I think that the possibility of this being a vekoma should be considered solely based on the fact that vekoma has said they are going for a new approach on trains (and I guess in turn track) while intamin and the others have not. Pictures of the new trains can be found here. And a quote from their site that proves they are going for a new approach.
  17. I know but I think it says somewhere in the rules to have the park off the ground. Its ok though, I was kind of joking around with that comment, hence the construction site review comment.
  18. How about some pictures of the theme park? I don't know, did robb change the site to construction site review?
  19. Those supports are unique, but can they actually support a coaster? I am not sure. The ones at the very top that just jut out seem to me to be weak and not very sturdy. Am I just taking crazy pills?
  20. ^Am I missing something? Those videos have already been posted on the KD thread, and this is the carowinds thread. I know that there is a rumor that the coaster was delivered wrong, which I think is a lie, but what do those videos even have to do with that?
  21. That would be so sweet! As long as it is open by november I will be happy!
  22. I am not sure if it was just the video or if it was pumpy, but it didn't seem ridiculously smooth. Also, you should try to make the final brake run at an angle so that when you stop the ride it doesn't need friction wheels to get going again. Looks like a fun coaster though!
  23. ^Even if they were delivered to the wrong park, which I highly doubt is the case, why on earth would there be a big clearing in the back of the park if it was all a mistake?
