Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
Devious replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm excited because: A. KP Is putting in a new ride (Home park now) B. It's a premier, and all of the ones i've been on have been awesome C. It's going in in an area almost as exposed as phantom is, and sounds to have a compact, insane layout I'm stoked, now all they need to do is offer Season passes -
/\ The Small traditional parks are where i always have the best park days Me and steven about killed each other in the fly'o'plane, we'd get a good roll going and then it would stick upside down on the second And the cannonball, oh how i love you so, especially the evil pop of airtime going into the brakes

The "Preview" Thread

Preview of my latest project "X-force" Launched Vekoma flyer, utilizing brakes to create a "Fake launch" before the ride actually launches into an insane and intense layout Progress: ~5% -
For me, at any rate, losing a coaster is honestly worse than a name being changed and some theming being redone Honestly, it's going to be just as well themed as "Dragons challenge" because they have that previous theming level to come up to Times change, theming changes, it's still the same dueling dragons we know and love, just with a dumber name, i can cope with that BBW Was the first inverted coaster i rode, it's been a personal favorite of mine for a few years, and i'll be far more sad to see it go than i was when they announced LC Becoming harry potter

Six Flags Tournament Of Thrills

SOB With the loop was better than both, even if the ride to the loop was a bit evil sometimes -
I believe there is, along with a full POV

Lots of pigeon forge pics, and none of them feature the most f'd-up skycoaster ever? It was like 30$ to ride it, but completely worth it, it looked like you could grab the powerlines nearby as you swung toward them I really regret not taking my camera with me when i went out through there

What is your next park?

The one-off trains for Phantom, Oldschool B&M Hyper trains, Gen1 Standup trains, and the Vekoma flyer trains (Dutchmans) -
As my favorite comedian would say "F*ck the children!". I'm not paying $50+ for mild rides (Ok, maybe I am also, but that's besides the point! ). BBW had some intense moments and that's what I loved about it. If they are tearing it down, it better be for a kick-as* coaster. I want an intense terrain coaster, no messing around. If they are going to replace such a great ride, it better be with something BETTER, not worse. And yes, that is my enthusiast opinion. It's the only opinion I really care about. It's very possible to build a BBW Replacement that is enthusiast-friendly WITHOUT Raising the height req. I mean, look at Phantoms Revenge, it's over 200ft and 60mph and STILL can be ridden by the average themepark family WHILE being a pretty intense ride

Wahahaha, Blazing fury ERT was the greatest thing ever, next to the cinnamon bread death Gotta love getting everyone drenched at like 9am (Especially since a few of us knew you could actually "Redirect" *cough* the water jets in the ride) Also, The mad dash of doom for the last train of thunderhead was BRILLIANT!

The one single coaster that is rough enough for me to hate it is Manhattan Express Everything seems smooth after you've ridden it a couple times and gotten that amazing neck chop in the helix

Deep south trip is over HOWEVER! Highlights! -My skillet food from Dollywood was the giant hotdogs of death, buried in cheese and decent chili, i love the food there -My tail belt making it on every ride, AND starring in a ton of photos, Turned heads at a lot of parks -SFOG Being a wonderful ending note, 13 rides on mindbender in a row then 5 on goliath before we had to leave -Dixielands kiddie coaster of death being awesome as usual -RAMPAGE ERT! Jesus, STILL my #1 wooden, and the INSANE night rides of ejector-airtime craziness just kept making it harder and harder to top in my list -ERT In general being amazing, excluding the whole walk-around-to-ride-again policy at Dollywood, that kinda ruined the kick from chain rides since we had to sprint incessantly to get a lot of ERT Rides in Theres more, i'm just tired while waiting for my flight home, i'll post a full TR At some point

Best Re-ride Roller Coasters
Devious replied to AviatorCoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Phantoms Revenge @ KW: 20+ times in one day and i never got bored of it, it's just too fun to get old, since every seat gives a different ride (Defunct) Raging Wolf Bobs @ Geauga lake: My #1 wooden coaster, and now honorable #1, i could ride it over and over to the point of losing count and never have a bad ride -

Argument Smiting time I Can handle rough coasters, My #1 spot was tied between RWB At geauga lake and SoB For several years They were both Rough & Tumble woodies, But SOB Made up for it with the epic loop and RWB Was a fun, rerideable coaster with a fun layout RWB Is now Defunct, and they removed the ONE good feature about SoB (the fact that it was the ONLY looping wooden in operation) Now? it's a big drop, a meh helix, another meh helix, etc. and it has it's really horrifyingly rough days and some smooth days But, i'd rather go ride a wooden like Thunderbolt @ KW or Wildcat @ Hershey, that makes up for being rough with a fun, Airtime-laden layout, with massive reride value Sure, SOB shouldnt really be torn down, it is still a record holder (It is still the tallest pure-wood coaster in the world, is it not?) but it SHOULD be worked on heavily, and should get it's loop back Why? It becomes the only looping wooden coaster again, they could smooth out the areas where it is almost always rough as heck (First helix comes to mind) and would make it a much better ride overall I'm pretty sure just about any enthusiast will agree with me that removing the major selling point of the ride was a stupid idea -

They need... To bring back the loop with some better trains, and reduce some of the trimmage It might actually become my #1 wooden again (New version is very bland and Meh compared to other wooden coasters to me) -
Post your milestone coasters
Devious replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
#1 Raging Wolf bobs (I logged over 400 rides on this thing before it was torn down) #100 Great white I should hit 200 on the deep south trip this year at dollywood assuming no coasters are closed or unrideable at any of the parks <,< -

Keep in mind it's a schwarzy, so lap bars would lessen that a bit (it'd still kick you around a bit) Great job Real -
[NL] The Shuttle Loop - Evolved.
Devious replied to A.J.'s topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
So, you contradict yourself with your own statement it wouldnt be overly hard to place or create a long curved set of brakes that could stop a train on a hill when we are talking about this being nonintamin so whats to say his engineers wouldnt have made a custom braking system for that hill, hmm? edit: on that note This: is no different (beyond being 90+ degrees) than this: it's essentially the same thing (easier, actually, from a physics standpoint) so i see absolutely no issues with it, Pic from RCDB, copyright it's respective owner -

Devious replied to A.J.'s topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Keep in mind, he's talking about Steel venom-esque holding brakes Standard, central, under-train fins, not intamin side brakes Good track, relatively smooth, just had a few minor issues with the spike and loop, no real problems elsewise -
Josh's Kennymeer (Waldawood) Extravaganza - Photo TR
Devious replied to StormFreak's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Yeah, it's really not *THAT* Bad, especially if you ride several times it "Kicks" you out of your seat for that second drop, especially with your hands up, if it does bang your side a little
