  1. Having not ridden the bull, I would have to say Maverick's first airtime hill or the hill after the photo spot on Bizarro.
  2. Opening day was today. Cannonball was really anemic, but it's the first day. For those who care, the Mine of Lost Souls had all but two stunts working (the talking heads right before the Egypt bit and the boulder stunt before the collapsing ceiling were nonfunctional) and everyone seemed to be in good spirits. EDIT: It appears that the new for 2016 addition is a petting zoo behind Untamed.
  3. Absolutely NOT! I have two words for you: ZONGA! Do we need to relive that whole mess about what happens when pussy American's get a kick A$$ ride like this in from Europe? They screw it up because the "American Idiot" audience can't handle such rides. Also see: Skyrush. Keep these kinds of rides OUTSIDE of the US parks where they can be enjoyed by people who aren't stupid. Amen, brotha! although Zonga is only one word...
  4. With regards to phones on coasters, I highly recommend the SCOTTeVEST brand. Their clothes have about ten trillion pockets each, almost all with zippers. No losing your phone, iPad, wallet, or anything else! Note: I have not received compensation, financial or otherwise, for plugging this brand of pricey vests with a bajillion pockets. I just wear mine all the time now and think others might want to know about the brand. The website is www.scottevest.com. Mods, feel free to remove the link if I have violated the forum rules by posting it.
  5. I think my first "big" coaster was Kumba. I don't remember too much of it.
  6. Here is the so-called boat, for those who were late to the party. I spent an hour searching for the thing. Edit: Quote didn't get image.
  7. WHelp, this cements my decision to get a Lake Compounce season pass instead of my usual SFNE one. Let me know if they beat five-minute dispatches. Ever.
  8. Something about that view irks me. I know it will look much better when the landscaping is done, but right now it looks like someone plopped down a Standard Dive Machine in the spare spot in their RCT park.
  9. As if this expansion needed to be even more Elissa-friendly.
  10. So, I was reading back in this thread about New Texas Giant's construction. Watching all of us stumble around in the dark is pretty entertaining. I recommend reading it (starts around page 53) if you have some spare time.
  11. I don't really get the hate that has engendered towards SLCs. The layout is one of the most insane devised for an invert. Shame it's ruined by the rolling stock.
  12. Merlin do actually take good care of their rides. Name one which is not taken care of. Smiler. Too soon? I mean is there something i missed or are you one of those who still think it's a mechanical fault? I was actually referring to the track issue in 2013-4 that caused it to close for a bit.
  13. Merlin do actually take good care of their rides. Name one which is not taken care of. Smiler. Too soon?
  14. Yeah, there aren't very many wooden coasters that are about the laterals anymore. I guess they're just going out of style? Well, Schilke said he wants to bring laterals back, so at least we'll have that.
  15. In terms of coaster as comedy device, I humbly submit this gem from 1936, featuring the legendary Cyclone Racer. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Classic slapstick on a classic coaster. Requiescat in pace, Cyclone Racer. EDIT: fixed typo
  16. RAIK's layout reminds me a lot of a family version of the legendary Bullet. Taron reminds me a lot of the second coming of Jesus.
  17. LG G4. Mewtwo asks, "On behalf of everyone, what purpose does this key serve?"
  18. I was just thinking that Hollywood Dream has both a dual loading station and a MCBR to increase capacity as well as being faster to load than a flyer and that still had long lines. It'll be interesting to see how this does on opening for lines. I've heard of 6 hours for backdrop when it opened and HP still has 3-4 hours. Has there ever been a world record for longest line recorded? I know Top Thrill had lines in excess of 12 hours when it first opened. CP crews were up until 3 in the morning clearing out the line.
  19. On the subject of Anton's supports, how about his "cone-plug" system that enabled rapid assembly and dismantling of huge transportable rides? From his patent.
  20. The point on the 2013 Midwest trip where I corralled some random kid to ride Jr. Gemini. I spent most of the day marathoning Maverick, though, so that was worth it.
  21. Get a SCOTTeVEST. They're basically fisherman's vests designed for gadgeteers. Here's a link to their site (mods, feel free to remove the link if it's against forum rules): www.scottevest.com
  22. Cedar Point, without a doubt.
