  1. Yet they are spending $25 million for I305. I'm sure Volcano wasn't a cheap investment either especially with all the set backs the project had. RCDB does not list the cost as they sometimes do when they have the information. Volcano was $20,000,000. Which when it was built, no B&M Hyper was at BGW, so Paramount could have pushed B&M to make them a Hyper for roughly the same price, but instead went with Volcano.
  2. Best- riding Alpengeist 7 times after the park closed cause nobody would get in line for the back row, and chanting "AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN" as the train returned was effective. Or riding Loch Ness Monster over and over without having to get up in the rain about 11 times. Worst- riding Thunderhawk. No more needs be said.
  3. It was pouring on Big Bad Wolf's closing day, and not only did the rain hurt (not to mention I kept riding it over and over, soaked, cold, and shivering like a fool), I got hit with a hat. I don't know if that counts as weather, but it sure as hell hurt.
  4. I don't think Big Bad Wolf has a chance, because in Arrow's contract it stated to only run it for 25 years. As much as I'd love to see Big Bad Wolf last as long as Nessie or longer, I know it's not gonna happen.
  5. 20/20 that was rather easy...
  6. I know it's just a kiddie coaster, but with the size of it, it definitely needs more than two brake sections, though I'm by no means an RCT2 pro. (NoLimits is better )
  7. I haven't had a problem with any rides except for HUSS rides. The Crypt may be fun and all... but DAMN it hurts. Shockwave is actually really comfortable for me... the bicycle seat isn't that bad. And on Berserker the lapbar hurts like crazy... because there's only one setting, and that's what the ride wants it to be not what you want it to be.
  8. ^I'm fairly sure this topic is for SFGAm not SFGAdv In response to the whole Demon/Whizzer debate, just from my personal Virginian-who's-never-been-to-SFGAm point of view, I'd rather see Whizzer stay. CGA kept their Demon and got rid of their Whizzer, and SFGAm still has both. Whizzer has more history behind it, and is one of those rides that everyone enjoys. Not everyone likes going upside down 4 times. Most of the family will enjoy a smooth (difference between Demon and Whizzer..) ride with lots of turns and hills/
  9. Thunderhawk at Dorney Park. Never before had I been bruised by a coaster. Just... ouch. They must have smoked some pretty powerful stuff in the 20's.
  10. If y'all will notice you can see that the track and supports have been painted. SF is also copying CF's trademarked red track and yellow supports... someone call Mr. Kinzel I think we have a lawsuit on our hands. (From RCDB) when it was at Great Escape. Notice how it looks crummy and the supports are blue.
  11. Honestly I have no opinion. I love Arrows. I don't care if it's not as smooth as a B&M. The one Vekoma I've been on is considered one of the worst (Sidewinder) but I found it to be smoother than a lotta coasters. Honestly I could care less how rough it is. I just don't like roughness on wooden coasters cause it's constant. Arrows and Vekomas just have one or two spots where you scream a very naughty word into the sky and be done with it.
  12. ^Last I checked, Loch Ness Monster wasn't slinging a train that can swing around at 50 mph over tight turns and quick banking changes that yank on the track and supports. Loch Ness Monster is a much more conventional coaster that requires little maintenance, is good on parts, and doesn't put too much stress on the track. By that logic, Corkscrew at CP and VF, Carolina Cyclone, Demon (CGA/SFGAM), Dragon Fire, Dragon Mountain, and DL's Viper would be gone by now because they're all older. But they're sit-down coasters that have been tried & proven reliable, Big Bad Wolf was one of those things they were still trying to get right. Bat was the initial prototype, that went after two years. Big Bad Wolf was the second prototype, and it lasted 25 years, which is pretty darn good.
  13. All of the Backlots have weird supports on the helix. It's just a giant pole with random little poles sticking out of it.
  14. It's now Loch Ness Monster, with 15 times in one day. On Monday.
  15. Big Bad Wolf on September 7th around 7:45 p.m.
  16. ^Especially after having so many problems with the prototype. Dodonpa doesn't have those problems, does it? So S&S seems to have air launches down (Shot Towers, Dodonpa) so what exactly went wrong? I got my friend who speaks German to translate parts of the article and it was something about explosion... in which case one of the air tanks just went poof.
  17. "Does this have a launch?" "Am I gonna fall outta this son of a bitch?!" -My mom on Alpengeist.
  18. To KDCOASTERFAN, Shockwave's wheels do not touch the track at all times. It runs only on road wheels. If you watch the wheels while going up the lift you see the guide wheels don't move at all. And on some Arrow coasters, the straight line banking to turn is actually much smoother if you sit in the back. Loch Ness Monster's fan turn will throw you to the side if you're sitting in the front, but it doesn't if you're in the back. Also you can watch the cars vibrate around and jerk side to side in the back. The only disadvantage I've found to the back is the fact that it made me black out at the end of the first loop. Other than that, all drops =
  19. On Arrow coasters, the reason it provides a rougher ride is because the trains only run on the road wheels when not turning/upside down. The guide wheels are used only for turning and the upstop wheels are used for hills with airtime or inversions. This allows for the train to be able to jerk up/down and side to side. Banking is another factor, different methods determine whether or not it'll be rough or produce high lateral forces. Unless shaped correctly, banking on the bottom of a drop is bad for lateral forces, which causes you to thump into the side of the train.
  20. My guess is it's just something about being below the track, Big Bad Wolf definitely feels like it's going 60 around that curve, but the 48 mph is accurate. Alpengeist doesn't feel like it's just 67 but that's what it is.
  21. On Busch Gardens' Facebook post reminding people to bid for the last train of the Big Bad Wolf- "I HATE THAT COASTER! i'm so glad it's going! they should buy the old hyper coaster from kings dominion that they took down a year or two ago! (;"
  22. My best friend is a supervisor on Flight of Fear at KD, and this wasn't as much entertaining, but still funny nonetheless. He grinned at me, and I shoulda known him being the joker he is would do something to me. He said "HEY BUDDY!!" then clicked my restraint down twice (thus stapling me to an insane amount) "Enjoy your ride!"
  23. Overall would be Anaconda at Kings Dominion with well over 100 rides In a day is Sidewinder at Hersheypark at 10 rides Without getting off is 7 on Alpengeist.
  24. No she didn't mean time in the park cause I talked to her earlier in the line (I waited 2 hours) and she said today was the only day they were spending at KD but they were on vacation for x amount of days.
  25. This isn't coaster-related, but in line for Flight of Fear today the woman said "We got 3 days left! Only 15 hours!!" Seriously... days are only 5 hours long now?!
