  1. The alligator actually used to be in Boo Blaster's queue back when it was Scooby Doo, or at least I assume so as it is no longer there.
  2. Six Flags Great Adventure's Facebook just confirmed that Great American Scream Machine will close on July 18th They're doing a contest for "Show us your scream face" and the winners will get ERT on GASM's last day. And their status
  3. I've checked Expedia, TripAdvisor, and Hotels.com and I cannot find any hotels near Great Adventure. The closest that it's giving me is 30 minutes away and I was wondering if any of y'all have stayed anywhere that's within 15-20 minutes of the park and not totally sleazy. Thanks!
  4. Yes, I have suffered a smack to the tunnel on Grizzly. It really freaking hurts. I figured that since it was a tunnel it'd have adequate clearance so I kept my hands up and ended up smacking the top of the it on the airtime hill in the tunnel. Also I used to love Dominator, but it's really nothing spectacular. There's a bad weld in the loop and the train jerks violently when you hit it, which really is no fun at all. I don't get how B&M did Interlocking Corkscrews on Kumba 7 years before Dominator and somehow Kumba's are so much better. As a matter of fact, I much prefer Arrow's Corkscrews over B&M's.
  5. 50- Air Grover at Busch Gardens Tampa I miscounted, my intentions were for it to be Kumba.
  6. Drachen Fire had those because it failed its first test run (stalled going into the Wraparound Corkscrew) to allow it to run when cold.
  7. Awesome to hear that Kennywood is onto such a winner with Sky Rocket. Everything about this ride looks awesome, the Cilffhanger, the surf curves, and the inversions. Going back to the thing about airtime during the Corkscrew, Joker's Jinx and both FoFs had that sensation so I'm assuming it's the constant forward rolling that Premier uses on their Corkscrews (as opposed to Arrow's Corkscrews, which shift backwards slightly instead of constantly moving forward)
  8. If you go to Kings Dominion Monday the 28th, you will most definitely get all the credits and rerides in one day. Busch Gardens will be the same, no matter what day you go.
  9. So will they be keeping Expoland's old coasters (Space Salamander and the 2 kiddie coasters)?
  10. According to Kennywood's Facebook-
  11. I think they edit:should reconfigure and have all the cars facing the center of the train, so that there are two "back rows". so they would do this > > > > < < < < instead of this > > > > > > > > That would be rather painful as the initial launch would throw the backwards-facing riders forward (possibly causing whiplash/neck damage). The only reason it can launch backwards is because it already has speed and it's a gentle boost, not a full-force launch.
  12. I doubt the MCBR could let it move much faster, because it appears the airitme in the back row would currently be really strong, bordering on painful.
  13. I rode once in row 2 and once in row 15. Row 15 was much harsher cause it had started the whip then the trim hit and threw you forwards.
  14. I rode Intimidator 305 for the first time with the trims on the first drop today. Keep in mind that even though KD is my home park, I am in no way partial to it. When Intimidator 305 opened and I rode it for the first time I knew that KD had something good, something that was possibly the best in the world. Despite having the trim on the final airtime hill, everything was perfect. All the very sharp transitions were perfectly engineered so that it didn't hurt your neck/head, the airtime was abundant, and the forces were just amazing. So then the ride melts wheels... who would have guessed it, it travels at 94 mph around sharp turns. Common sense, correct? It happened with Millennium Force and that has very spread out elements. Trims are installed and yadda yadda. There are also little hoses in the station and on the brake run that don't really do much except wash the cars and the riders, they ain't exactly aimed at the wheels. So Intimidator 305 was running one train and I figured hey, how much of a difference could a couple mph make? Wrong wrong wrong. There was absolutely no airtime. Whatsoever. Over any hill. Not to mention the fact that it felt like a holding brake in the manner that it was dragging so hard that it forced you into the restraint. After that the turn had just as much force as a B&M Mega would at the bottom of a hill. The 150' airtime hill had no airtime at all, not even floater. It hardly rolled over the top. After that my favorite element was coming up, the thing in which you exit the banking over a small hill and go back into the same direction of banking. There was mild floater instead of airtime mixed with laterals. The rest was just so un-intense and un-twisty. The 75' hill had the no airtime as it had with the trim on it. The final banking change still whacks your neck pretty badly. So yeah, it's still a good ride... but a B&M Mega would have similar intensity and level of awesomeness. It's positioned wrongly to give the "OMG 305 FEET IN THE AIR!" feeling. The forces only cause blackouts now due to the fact that they're sustained, not because it's that forceful. I still like the ride. I still like Intimidator 305. I just no longer love it as much as I originally did and it's just not the awesome world-class coaster it was is my point.
  15. I felt the exact same way minus the giant bruise. It's really aggressive for a GCI and that type of layout is not meant to be taken aggressively. Hersheypark invested in Millennium Flyers and I'm sure that Roar can't be too far from it, since PTC trains are a lot harsher on the track and structure than Millennium Flyers are.
  16. Yes, that's a possibility. Generally they'd keep them separated when storing them so that they don't make a mistake and send them to the wrong park. More than likely all these pieces of track are for the same coaster, as they're all the same track style.
  17. Yes, Batman The Ride clones are very intense due to the speed the compact elements are taken out. Graying/blackout out is normal and it's not killing you or anything like that. What happens is that when positive Gs are applied (by changing the degree you're traveling at) you're forced into your seat and blood is forced downwards in your body, causing you to feel heavy (if you weigh 100 pounds, 4 Gs make you feel like you weigh 400 pounds). When the blood is forced away from your brain, you start to lose your vision and when sustained high enough (over 7-9 Gs) for long enough, you can suffer brain damage or die. Lateral forces (applied to your side during turns) and Linear forces (applied during acceleration) cannot harm you but can cause injury/discomfort. No coaster, however, would have the capability to kill you from Gs unless it were very poorly designed. Bolliger & Mabillard is known for its immaculate safety record, returning every single rider alive for 20 years. Blacking out can happen for multiple reasons, it can happen from lack of nourishment (food/water), lack of sleep, small body frame, prolonged period of high Gs applied to the body, or just a low G tolerance in general. I've ridden Alpengeist, Talon, Great Bear, and Montu, and I've yet to black out on anything except for Intimidator 305. Talon is the most intense of them. However, most newer B&Ms are designed to not be as forceful as the older B&Ms (Batman clones, Kumba, Montu, Alpengiest). For some reason, Inverted coasters always give a greater sensation of Gs. The layout doesn't necessarily dictate the forces that will be applied, it's the sharpness of the change in angle and the size of the elements. Schwarzkopf is notorious for small rides with very high Gs. Hope that answered your concerns.
  18. Although I love B&M Hypers, one of the support connections The one on the left, is that of an inversion. Also the ties are the same as the Sit Down/Floorless ties, which are also straight. Notice the support connection on the loop. And the straight ties.
  19. Nothing, they're just continuing to let their incompetence shine through. I may be incorrect, but I'm pretty sure they're trying something that was done many many decades ago, with little information of the originals to be gleaned. I may be incorrect again, but none of them are even still around and I'm sure Knoebels would enjoy something that they've put a lot of time and work into to last a long time. How exactly are they incompetent? They have gotten a one-of-a-kind ride that hasn't been built since the 1930's built. They're currently trying new things to make sure it won't damage itself. If they were incompetent it would have opened years ago with shoddy construction and trains, damaging the ride and possibly becoming a hazard with a short life.
  20. I was going to say something along the lines of "S&S is lucky they didn't build this thing in KD, those kids would lynch the execs".. but I thought it'd be in bad taste Well the ride already had trims. Right after the launch, trims quickly slowed the train to under 70 mph to allow it to maneuver that element without killing riders. The "fastest" thing was only held for like half a second til the trims kicked in.
  21. Honestly, as a teenager personally, they deserved it. If you're gonna let all those rambunctious young hooligans ( ) go nuts there has to be a limit. You can't just let them be up there attacking for something stupid like a hat. I didn't like All Time Low before now and I really don't like them now, especially for their comments in reaction to something that they caused. Grow a pair.
  22. Depends, really. KD has lost all of it's "I'M GOING TO KD TODAY, IN YOUR FACE!"-ness. If I'm going with a friend it's definitely still as fun as ever, but going alone just doesn't do it for excitement. That's not to say I don't have fun it's just not the same as when I was little and went to KD. BGW still has all of the excitement. No matter whether it's alone or with a friend I still love going because it never gets boring. KD bores me (alone) after a few hours.
  23. Well as far as Kings Dominion's is concerned, it's all the roughness with none of the airtime.
  24. Hurler at KD already has the trims there, and they're supposedly to keep it from tearing up the structure as much as it does to make it "smoother".
  25. That is insanely cool and awesome of SFGAm to do, especially posting all the things about its history so the GP aren't like "OOOH SHINY NEW COASTER!". On another note, Demon's train looks horrid; having something bright pink, orange, and green on a coaster that's supposed to be all demon-y doesn't work.
