Post your milestone coasters
CreditCrazy replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1 - Little Dipper (Castle Park) 50 - Medusa (SFDK) 100 - Diamondback (KI) I know #75 was Superman The Escape's Left Side and #125 was Tony Hawk's Big Spin at SFDK, but those aren't exactly "special". -
Went to Magic Mountain yesterday, expected it to be completely empty, and it was. Creepy empty. I didn't really have any lines to deal with, and the park was even open until 10, so I got there at opening, stayed till closing, and got...26 rides. Could have gotten more, A LOT more, but throwing up in trash cans just isn't that much fun anymore... If you're wondering how empty the park was, X2 ( ) and Tatsu had empty station's around 8 (along with everything else), and Superman had a completely empty queue and station at night (that's where the creepy part came in). Got to stay on Terminator at night twice in a row, and I could have ridden it about 38 more times...but yeah, I was pretty ride-ed out by then. It was pretty great being able to ride whatever you wanted, whenever you wanted, so this is definitely the day to go (except next year they'll probably be closed on this day since it'll be Monday). I also begged to ride Percy, again. Still won't let me...but I will not give up. Ride Count: X2 x4 Terminator Salvation The Ride x6 Riddler’s Revenge x1 Batman The Ride x1 Jet Stream x1 Ninja x2 Superman The Escape x3 Orient Express x1 Viper x1 Log Jammer x1 Yosemite Sam Sierra Falls x1 Goliath x2 Gold Rusher x1 Tatsu x1 Sounds like the perfect day, and it pretty much was, but I was really disappointed with Terminator's crew. There was completely NO LINE all day, yet they were making everyone watch all three pre-shows ALL DAY. Near-empty trains kept going out, and when you'd get to the station you'd find it pretty much empty, but every single time you had to go through all the pre shows. That got very annoying. Pictures: Here is Terminator's train coming into the station for my first ride on it yesterday. This is new. There are now two doors in Terminator's pre-show queue blocking people from going to the next one. I guess they had a problem with this...possibly because the pre-show is boring? Stuck? Actually it wasn't this time. Riddler's was running good. Felt rougher than usual, but the hang-time was insane. Rode Batman in the rear... I thought my legs were getting ripped off. Didn't ride Scream...really not a fan of this ride. It is a decent looking coaster...from inside the park. I tried to get Superman and Tatsu in the same picture, but right as the train was coming a big crowd of GP came by and messed the shot up. GP... X2's empty switchbacks. First saw this sight going down Viper's first drop...it was lovely. This shot came out nice... ...this shot didn't. Didn't get too many pictures because I mainly focused on video. Video:

Most Photogenic Coasters
CreditCrazy replied to darklingscribe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Besides what has already been said, I find Diamondback very photogenic. My avatar has to be my favorite picture I've taken of the ride. -
X2 is a great ride, and yeah I'd say it is as good as it looks on video. If you want the best/most enjoyable/smoothest ride possible I recommend sitting in the first few rows on an inside seat. I've ridden the ride towards the back in an inside side and it was rough, and I've ridden the ride on an outside seat in the font and it was rough. Just don't make the mistake I did and watch a ton of POV's. When I first rode the ride, it was great, but there was no surprise as I knew exactly what was coming when.

I called the park a couple days ago and was told by somebody in group sales that they had decided not to stay open for the day after Halloween (Sunday) because it was very slow last year. I also just called the park information line and it is very specific (as is the website) in saying that Fright Fest is only for weekends in October.

The "Say Something Random" Thread

^ SFKK's Greezed Lightnin' is still there. -
If I were you, I would split Cedar Point and SFGAdv into two trips, and do other parks in the area for each trip. For Cedar Point, you could do Waldameer, Kennywood, Kings Island, Holiday World, Indiana Beach, SFGAm, etc. (depending on how big you would want the trip to be) and then for SFGAdv also do Dorney, Lake Compounce, SFNE, Knoebels, and also go down to Virginia if you want (I left out Hershey since you said you already went). Since it seems like you want to include CP and SFGAdv into one trip, and keep the trip to about 5 or 6 parks, I would drive up to Virginia, do BGW and KD, drive up to PA/NJ, hit SFGAdv, drive over to CP (hitting another PA park on the way, Dorney, Knoebels, Kennywood or Waldameer, depending on what you like most) and drive back down to Atlanta and possibly hit KI or Dollywood.

^ Thanks, I agree. Plus elephants, what more could you want? -

I know I'll be making at least one last trip to SFMM before 2010, and there's also a chance I could get to KBF or SFDK again. Since SFMM is the only one I know I'm going to at the moment though, I'll just say X2 (favorite coaster in California, 3rd favorite coaster overall, one of the best rides at night, why not have that end a great season?)
-
I would pick SFMM and Disneyland/DCA (and just get a park hopper for a day). I haven't been to Universal but that could possibly be a good choice (especially since you've been to DLP twice), just make sure you experience SFMM and make sure you don't experience Knott's.

Northern California 2009

Roar was good. Not as good as my night ride in December though. V2 disappointed me. Twas once a Top 5 coaster... Ahhh, so SFDK has M&M stairs too. OVERRATED. I was really looking forward to this, and I kept waiting for something to happen, but it was simply just talking about the tigers and feeding them... UNDERRATED. I didn't even know about this show. It's great, a definite must if you visit SFDK. You were lame. Butterfly house Dolphin fountain Since when are waves colorful? Skyline from the parking lot. The lake That's all for this report, thanks for reading! -

Part 3 - Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. My 4th visit to this park and it seems like every visit gets better! This park is amazing, and my favorite SF park. It is exactly what SF parks should/are trying be like; clean and family friendly. There are some really good shows too, and the coaster collection isn't bad at all. Never got to go when it was Marine World...no Zonga for me. My 125th credit. This coaster is definitely in my Top 120. Moving on to a coaster in my Top 15... Medusa was great! A lot better than I remembered it. Smooth...fun...re-ridable...un-original...no, I did not just mean to describe B&M. Pre-lift I don't know why I rode Kong...especially since I already had the credit...and a re-ride...and a ride on it's terrible cousin in Kentucky... Oh right I remember...I used to like it! Well not like it...but not hate it. It was in my Top 30 when my count was 70, so I guess it was okay. It sucked, but it's still a lot better than T2. Overbanked turn is fun though. An overview of Kong...from the ground. Didn't bother riding Boomerang after Kong. But I do remember it being a lot better than KBF's Boomerang-with-Arrow-trains-POS. The cobra roll (or is it called a 'boomerang' on a boomerang coaster?) goes right over the path. Reflection shot fail. This rapids is one of the best I've been on! It's fast-paced, there's two waterfalls (one which half of the raft actually goes in) and after several turns and random ways of getting wet, you get SHOT with the water guns. And yeah...I know I used the wrong picture to describe this. SOAKED. But...sorry SFDK, I just have to take a moment to show how much better Disney is than Six Flags (even if this is a SFDK TR). Here is SFDK's water. And here is Disney's. Notice any difference? And if you're thinking SFDK's looks like chocolate milk, I agree. -
I don't completely believe this yet, and I think it's a really weird/bad move for KBF/CF, but if this is true, I won't be devastated. It's a fun ride and would definitely be a must ride for me every visit (if lines don't get too long). Plus, they could make it look really nice and theme it to a mine shaft.

Photo TR of four Australian Parks
CreditCrazy replied to capnkyle1's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice trip report! Looking forward to seeing the rest. Australia definitely has some interesting coasters that sadly never seem to get much attention. -
The park does have a lot of space, and there are a lot of rides that can be squeezed in certain places, but I just can't see another ride on the mountain... Possibly on the other side of Superman (back side, closest to Jonny Rockets and Gold Rusher), and have the entrance be somewhere where the metro station is, but I can't see a record breaker in that spot and there's no way they could make the entrance for a coaster over there in Samurai Summit.
-
Well, the first one sounds a lot like a Tony Hawk big spin right where Freefall/Tidal Wave are/were. The second one sounds very un-realistic. What big coaster does the park need? I can't think of any spot on the the mountain for a big new coaster, just a flat (like a DROP TOWER!) which is what I am hoping for.

First thing that came to my mind was Dive Machine. It could break a record by being the first one with a vertical loop. -
What's your favorite Flat ride?
CreditCrazy replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pretty much the only Flat Ride's I ride are Drop Towers. Intamin 2nd generations are my favorite but S&S Turbo Drop's are also fun. Here's my Top 5: 1. Drop Tower - Kings Island 2. Drop Tower - California's Great America 3. Pit Fall - Kennywood 4. Power Tower (drop side) - Cedar Point 5. Supreme Scream - Knott's Berry Farm -
