CGA Photo Tour 6/14 and more shots from 8/9
CreditCrazy replied to KGA29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great Invertigo pictures! Glad to see Flight Deck running again, the park is really dead without it. -
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, the 5th park of the trip. I hate to start off negative…but this park was very bad, and definitely one of my least favorites. I've seen a lot of people defend the park because it has a good collection of rides. First of all…I don't agree with that, but that's an opinion. Let's say the rides are good though, okay. It's the operations and slow staff that made this park bad. Everything ran one train except Roadrunner Express, and it was horrible to wait in a long line (that shouldn't be so long), get into the station, see a one train operation, and watch the coaster slowly come into the station and watch the slow ride ops. They were in no rush to check restraints, open gates, etc. This is a perfect example of people that simply just don't care about their jobs…and they were everywhere. Onto the rides. Coasters: 1 – Greezed Lightnin'. 1 time. 2 minutes. I enjoy Montezooma's Revenge so Greezed Lightnin' was a fun ride. Trims in the station were disappointing though. 2 – Thunder Run. 1 time. 2 minutes. An okay wooden coaster. I wouldn't call it too rough but after the first air-time hill it was kind of pointless. I will admit that that air-time was very good, I just wish the rest of the hills had that much. 3 – Chang. 1 time. 30 minutes. Not a fan of stand ups, didn't enjoy Chang. I like the first drop, and it had a great layout, I just hate standing up on a coaster. 4 – Roadrunner Express. 1 time. 10 minutes. Ya know…Wild Mouse coasters are almost so bad, so horrible, and so uncomfortable, that they're actually kind of fun. 5 – Roller Skater. 1 time. 2 minutes. I've ridden enough of these. 6 – T2. 1 time. 15 minutes. Probably tied with Invertigo for my least favorite coaster evah. It was terribly rough and wouldn't end. I still don't think Kong is nearly as miserable though. Other Rides: 1 - Deluge. 1 time. 1 hour. The one good thing about this park! Deluge was awesome. It beats Downunder Thunder as my favorite waterslide by far. It's just a ton of fun…I wish I was on the 2007 Midwestern trip so I could have ERT on it… 2 - Penguin's Blizzard Plunge. 10 minutes. Decent rapids. Kind of slow and boring but there's a little bit of theming so that's a plus when you're at SFKK. 3 – Tornado. 1 time. 30 minutes. The only other waterslide I rode. I've ridden some before and really liked them but this one was lame. 4 – Sky Wheel. 1 time. 5 minutes. I don't even think they ran half of the cars on this…very frustrating. Although it did give a good view. That's all for the review. I am having trouble uploading the pictures but I'll try to get them up as soon as possible.

It's a nice amount of land, but I don't know what good of use it would be for a hyper. If the station went in that land, the lift would pretty much have to go over that whole back area by the bumper cars which I think would look pretty bad...then do the rest of the course back-stage and come back next to the lift. I think the only way they could get a hyper would be to have the station on the edge of the park, right by the back entrance but I don't see how they could squeeze that in without removing Bigfoot or some buildings over there. I don't think building a hyper would be the best idea for Knott's. A lot of people already are mad about Knott's losing its charm with all these coasters and a hyper would pretty much take all of what's left of that charm away. I think it would be a much better idea to remove Perilous Plunge, add something there (an El Loco, ball coaster, GCI woodie?? (it is a boardwalk area afterall), anything that can fit) and leave the rapids/back entrance area alone.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Doesn't agree with this statement: SFFT and SFOT both have Tony Hawk coasters, but, they are approximately 4 and a half hours away from each other while KBF and SFMM are about an hour away from each other. If SFFT and SFOT were that close to each other I wouldn't think they would both have Tony Hawk coasters. It's like a Southern California and Northern California situation. It'd be fine if there was another Supreme Scream clone (or something close to it) in Northern California because both are a pretty decent distance away from each other and like one of your quote's says most of the time the gp doesn't know what's going on. But a ride just like Supreme Scream, an hour away, at SFMM? I'm all for SFMM getting a drop tower, but I like the gyro drop idea much more than the idea of an S&S tower just like Supreme Scream. A gyro drop would probably be different enough for the gp to not think the two are the same (different height, seating, tilting, etc.) while still adding a fun, intimidating flat to SFMM.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

A giga coaster. Millennium Force is a great ride that nearly everyone seems to love. Whether it's their #1 coaster, one of their favorites, or just a really fun ride that they think is forceless ( ), it's good. I don't think Manta even has a chance of beating it in the Mitch Hawker Poll (because MF has been very highly rated in the past couple years) and there is a good chance that this giga coaster will be even better than MF...it has been 10 years afterall. -
Haven't been to Indiana Beach, but I went to Cedar Point and Kings Island for the first time in June. I would think all the parks would be pretty crowded around this time, but that is just a guess. Obviously July would be the busiest month in the summer, but in August people could be getting their amusement parks in right before school starts, or they've already gone to their amusement parks and aren't going again. I really have no idea, but I do know that when I went to both parks in June it wasn't as crowded as I've seen in PTR's from later in the summer. At Cedar Point, on Thursday I would hit up the rides that you want to ride at night since you won't have another night there. Millennium Force and Maverick are a must, and if you have more time I would try Magnum and TTD. At Kings Island, if you are going at opening, make sure you do not go to Diamondback first. It can wait. I would suggest going to either Invertigo or Firehawk first because both get very long and miserable lines for in my opinion the worst coasters I've been on. Diamondback's line moves very fast and usually isn't too bad because of that. It's a shame you won't have a night at Kings Island, because that's really the only way to experience the Beast, and also make sure you sit towards the front on Magnum. It gives a great ride in the front, but the back gets a little extreme and rough. I actually think the back is good because of the most insane airtime evah, but the front is more enjoyable and will hopefully make you a Magnum XL-200 fanboy, and not a hater.

Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
CreditCrazy replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
BEST: (in no order) Maverick. After the launch (even when you slow down) you have so much speed and the sharp turns are great. The airtime hill is also great. Maverick's ending is perfect. Beast. Like someone said above, the double helix flying into the tunnel at night is amazing. Magnum XL-200. Those hills one-after-another at the end combined with great tunnels give the best air-time I've ever gotten and make an awesome ending. Batman The Ride. I love how you fly through the corkscrews with so much speed and intensity. WORST: Voyage. I really do like The Voyage, and I think is a great ride, but it is just...too...long...sure a long coaster is great but with Voyage's non-stop extreme intensity and roughness you just want it to end at some point, but it just keeps going. Silver Bullet. Not a fan of the helix. Goliath (SFMM). Not a fan of the helix. Tatsu. Not a fan of the pretzel loop. Ninja. Laaame lift hill. Adventure Express. Laaame lift hill. -
What is your next park?
CreditCrazy replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well...it's time for my 'off season'. I like to go to a lot of parks in the winter and spring because they're empty, and usually the trips in early summer, so now I probably won't be at another park until November...except random un-planned Knott's trips. So Knott's I guess. -
The 'old' Space Mountain at Disneyland - scared Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom - don't remember it, but I know I disn't ride it (scared) Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom - don't remember it, but I know I didn't ride it (scared) Barnstormer - didn't even know it existed, but I would have been scared Incredible Hulk - don't remember it, but I know I didn't ride it (scared) Dueling Dragons - don't remember it, but I know I didn't ride it (scared) Flying Unicorn - didn't even know it existed, but I would have been scared Revenge of the Mummy (USF) - wasn't built yet Woody's Woodpecker Nuthouse - didn't even know it existed, but I would have been scared Lightning Bolt (MGM) - don't remember it, but I know I didn't ride it (scared) Psyclone (SFMM) - scared Flashback (SFMM) - SBNO, but I would have been scared Spider (Lagoon) - closed, probably wouldn't have ridden it anyway because of spinning Exterminator (Kennywood) - skipped it because of spinning Son of Beast (KI) - closed Percy's Railway - too tall 18 missed credits.

What Do You Think Of Morgan
CreditCrazy replied to coasterfreaksrttd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've ridden Santa Monica West Coaster, Quicksilver Express, and Phantom's Revenge. Phantom's Revenge is an awesome coaster, Quicksilver is pretty fun (when I was scared to ride big coasters I rode it 13 times in one day ) and Santa Monica West Coaster is very boring. Just because I like hyper coasters, big drops, and air-time, I think I'd really enjoy the rest of their coasters, but I don't think they make the best. -
