BGE vs. Kings Dominion
CreditCrazy replied to iplf's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ That is good advice. If you follow that plan, you can ride what you want at BGW and know you rode what you wanted to. Once you're happy with your ride-count, head to KD. Maybe you'll have a great time at BGW and stay all day. -
Favorite Water Ride
CreditCrazy replied to SFMM rocks my socks's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am a big fan of water rides, here's my Top 5: 1. Splash Mountain (Disneyland) 2. Perilous Plunge (KBF) 3. Grizzly River Rapids (DCA) 4. Shipwreck Rapids (I think that's what it's called...SWSD) 5. White Water Safari (SFDK) I have ridden Pilgrim's Plunge, which wasn't great at all. The lift is the best part, Perilous Plunge is much better. EDIT: Forgot Journey To Atlantis and Deluge! They are definitely up there. -
BGE vs. Kings Dominion

If this was my trip, I would choose BGW, for the whole day. I want to ride i305 more than anything at BGW, but BGW just looks amazing...with several great rides, where imo i305 at KD is the only one that really stands out. -
What's your favorite John Allen coaster?
CreditCrazy replied to ComfyNAD's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Blue Streak! Has some great airtime in the back. -
Nice TR. Glad to hear a really good review of Ride of Steel, and if you want a bad SLC, ride T2 at SFKK!

I think the park should get something new (which they already are, rumored coaster next year and Wiggles World soon after that) to hopefully bring people to the park, and then add another tram in the parking lot on a Saturday in July, or add more tables/seating in indoor resaurants, etc. That way when people (hopefully) come to the park for the new attraction, they will also notice how many improvements have been made and (hopefully) come back or even buy a season pass. SFMM got Terminator this year but they missed their chance to improve some other things in the park. People came (or are hopefully coming) for "the new ride" but imo not too much has been improved and while still not as bad as the "old Six Flags" it still has a lot of things that could be better (like B&M stated).

I respect your opinion too, but it was also a smoother ride than Scream is. I agree that Scream really isn't a ride that's going to knock your socks off but I think that it could be a very solid and enjoyable ride if management decided to introduce a Bizarro-like treatment. Sure, mist and fire only adds to the overall 'experience' like you said, but isn't it the experience that actually counts? It's like comparing X to X2. But as a stand alone ride, Scream and Bizarro both are only mediocre, there's just that fact that Bizarro has audio, fire, mist, and light effects alone with a smoother ride. I am in agreement with Bolliger&Mabillard here. Mist and fire effects do nothing for me as the rider. I think it just makes it more entertaining for spectators who are watching the ride. You hardly notice any of these effects while riding which is why adding a ridiculous Bizarro theme would not make me want to ride Scream any more. The only good thing that came from the X2 tansformation is adding the new trains, which are just as rough in my opinion, but are very cool looking. I agree with MagicMountainMan. X to X2 is a perfect example. I never got to ride X, but I've gotten some very rough rides on X2 and it's very unenjoyable. X must have been a lot worse. Sure, giving Scream! a Bizarro re-theme wouldn't make it smoother (because it isn't really rough to begin with) but adding some fire and mist to some parts of the ride can make it more exciting, popular and can distract you from some of the rattle. I actually think it'd be weird to have X2, Terminator and a Bizarro all in the same park, and I think it's getting a little boring to keep adding fire/mist/audio for re-doing rides, so I definitely want something different than a Bizarro theme but some theme would be nice. AND GRASS!

Best way to do Cedar Point...
CreditCrazy replied to rockbook2000's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Then I guess a lot of people are overplanners. I would hit one of the big three at opening and one before closing. I would suggest Maverick and MF, because TTD's line moves extremely fast. Raptor also gets pretty long lines but is least crowded in the middle of the day (like around 5). The rest probably won't be too bad (but I don't know about flats). -
Great pictures. I haven't heard one good thing from anyone about SFoG's staff yet, but the park looks very nice.

When I went to SFDK a couple weeks ago there was a BrainRush sign...not really sure if that means it'd come to SFDK or not.

WildeBeest looks awesome...that looks like a ton of fun. Too bad it'll get huge lines. -
Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"

Way to spoil the ending... -
Worth the credit.

I agree. Medusa is a great ride...and Scream just isn't (imo). It's not just the smoothness, Medusa has a great first drop and what I really like about it is that it's "spaced out" more than Scream. All of Scream's inversions seem too close together, and Medusa's are more spread out making the ride more smooth, enjoyable and unique.

You are not alone! The return through the loop is so intense! I love Montezooma's Revenge, and if Xcelerator wasn't around it'd be my favorite coaster at the park. Don't get me wrong, I still really like Montezooma's Revenge! It just isn't something I could ride all day. I agree that going through the loop backwards is very intense...especially sitting in the backseat. About Ghostrider, I go back and fourth with it. Sometimes I get some really good rides, sometimes it's horrible. Because of that inconsistency, it's pretty low on my woodie list. A ride should be good most of, if not all of the time.

The Best Six Flags Park
CreditCrazy replied to Axman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. SFDK. SFDK is one of my favorite parks. I've been there 4 times and each time I still haven't had enough time there (not because of not being there long, but because there's so much to do). The coaster collection isn't a huge deal (even though Medusa, Roar and V2 are all fun rides), but it's all the shows and animals to see that keep you busy. Imagine Sea World's shows, plus a zoo, and an amusement park...that's SFDK! The park has great flats and a good blance of family rides, and the rapids ride is just completely...awesome. The park is also surprisingly VERY clean overall a lot of fun. Btw, yes the park is great (like I just said) but there is one thing that makes it one of my favorites...the elephant show. If you visit SFDK without seeing the elephant show, you didn't visit SFDK. 2. SFMM. ... ... ... 3. SFKK. -
^KBF's family coasters aren't exactly smooth either. I'd say Jaguar is just as rough as Gold Rusher, Pony Express is extremely uncomfortable to point where it isn't even enjoyable, and I won't even say anything about Timberline Twister... That leaves Sierra Sidewinder which I think is probably the greatest thing ever. Even though I hate spinning it is a such a fun family coaster and is perfect for everyone. It's very popular and everyone just loves it! SFMM needs something just like it, but besides that I would not say KBF's family coasters are smooth. I just think it's great that they do have a good amount of them, as well as a great kiddie area, Timber Mountain, Bigfoot, and Calico Mine Ride. That is one thing that I'm very impressed with at KBF, and not so much at SFMM.

While I agree that Knott's has a better balance of rides (some relaxing, some thrilling) I find SFMM more fun to go to. There's more coasters and they keep you busy. I love to ride X2, Goliath, Batman and Terminator several times each visit and nearly everything else at least once, but I can't even get everything done everytime I visit the park! I get bored at Knott's. Even when I haven't been there in a while and I go I get bored. Boomerang is one of my least favorite coasters and isn't worth riding again (I've actually ridden it 4 times...ugh), and I find Ghostrider and Montezooma's Revenge to kind of just be "one ride per visit" type rides. Silver Bullet is okay, but the only rides you'll find me at all day are Xcelerator and Supreme Scream. Sure Timber Mountain Log Ride, Bigfoot, and Perilous Plunge are fun, but it all gets done really quickly and once you've ridden Silver Bullet and Xcelerator 20+ times each they get really old also. SFMM is a HUGE park though, with much more space. For the little park Knott's is (in size), it really does have a good amount of rides.
