  1. In the 90's things starting going south for the place. It went from just Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Sea World to 7 world class parks in a period of 10 years. Add to that Sea World adding thrills to their park, all the water parks built and Busch Gardens not far away and the place never stood a chance. Cypress Gardens time has come and gone. The idea of a garden with a ski show as it's headline attraction is over. The Legoland idea is not a bad one, but they must get deals with a shuttle service or it will never work.
  2. CNL owns the land as a landlord and each park is it's own PARC LLC company. PARC is the one that owes here according to the note. The ScreamScape figures are a little off as what is owed is part of the Deferred Amount and not the annual payment. It is actually over $2 million plus interest SF is looking for. Also, the only way SF gets the parks back is if the judge rules it in third cause of action in the claim or PARC defaults. The other claims (1,2,4) all just want money and interest.
  3. If you can avoid being shot and flagged down for drugs, it might be a fun place.
  4. I just wanted to let everyone know that John Pagel from Kings Dominion (as well as Dani Swords from Carowinds) will be on In the Loop tonight at 8:00 EST. If you have any questions about the newly completed ride, this is the time to ask.
  5. So not only would Dick double his money on stock he bought at $5 and change, but make $20 million as well? Not bad for increasing the companies debt by over a billion in the last few years and stock tanking in the same time.
  6. If gay people want to miserable like every other married couple, let them
  7. This hotel recommendation is going to come out of left field but the Super 8 on W. Irlo Bronson right by Old Town/Fun Spot (It's HUGE) is amazing for 35 bucks a night with tax during the summer. The rooms were remodeled 2 years ago, the place is clean and the staff is great. The staff even called in a tech guy at 3 am with when their routers crashed. The same trip we spent 2 nights towards the end at All Star Sports and will never go back. If you plan well with a good touring plan (Unoffical Guide to WDW being the pick of the litter) you will be fine without extra magic hours at WDW. The only negative is the $15 parking fees unless someone in your party has an Annual Pass.
  8. And here I thought they drove a monster truck.
  9. ^Added to the list to buy along with an extended battery and memory card. Any advice on a case to protect the camera on ride? Not for POV's at all, but for riding in my pocket during the ride.
  10. I got the Sony HDR-CX100 yesterday and LOVE IT. It is outstanding and the size is perfect. I want to thank Robb for all his help.
  11. ^I'd imagine easier then finding a good woman that loves them
  12. T2. I hate the ride, the black paint is falling off and it is the only ride I kicked in anger as I got off.
  13. Over 100 theme park postcards on EBAY for around $60.
  14. The two best places to start for me are: 1. Shane's Amusement Attic here on the site at http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40361 The post is a treasure trove of information. Plus the 2008 IAPPA sections would help you get to know what manufactures are doing now. 2. The Incredible Scream Machines book by Dr. Robert Cartmell. The book was the bible of roller coasters when it came out in the 1980's. It was a book the was informative, but easy enough to read as well. It's been out of print for years, but is a great piece of history. Well worth the price if you can find it used. Check EBAY as I got my copy on there in late 2008 for 11 bucks shipped.
  15. In 2006 my fiancee got me a filing box. I had said I wanted one, as in get one I had at home (I was in college.) Thus it was the first time I was ever stunned with a gift in a bad way.
  16. I got cash from everyone, the gift that keeps on giving. Should be getting my Sony HDR-CX100 video camera on Tuesday or Wednesday.
  17. Thank you very much for the video. It puts any worries I had to rest. I am trying to find a store in central IL to play around with it, but looking like I will have to wait until I back to Chicago.
  18. Robb, if you see this, I got a question. You have any videos online that were made with the Sony HDR-CX100 camera? I was reading ok to below average for it's use with moving objects. Thanks
  19. My fiancee okaying a move to Orlando was my best gift
  20. No, but my fiance did make Blueberry muffins today Have you ever eaten at Waffle House?
  21. ^ That's good to hear. The memory card format is the only other issue for me as everything I own is SD. Dirt inside the cameras from the factory getting on the lens was a huge problem with them. With the point-and-shoot style cameras, they are a pain to get open without breaking anything and no camera place would work on them. I also had one of them that just flat out erased everything on a memory card when the camera was shut out. Needless to stay, I moved onto another brand.
  22. ^My problem is the amount of issues I had with Sony digital cameras I've had over the years. I've had 2 different camera models that I had to return multiple times for issues with them. However, this was 4 years ago, so maybe things have changed. Right now I am leaning towards the Sony due to low light. I just want to get into a store to play around with each before I decide.
  23. Thanks for the link Robb. I am not a Sony fan, but the price might be too good to pass. Right now I am between that and the Canon VIXIA HF200. Decisions, decisions.
  24. ^I'm looking towards a flash or internal hard drive model. More of a convince thing then anything else. My main problem with the reviews is lack of low-light reviews. This would be my best guess as to a place where people have used a camera in a theme park in low light. Thanks for the advice so far, I'm always open to any suggestions.
  25. I'm not even sure he has spent 100's of thousands of pennies on this. Apparently, Danny forgot the part where P.T. Barnum actually produced something to the public instead of all talk. This whole thing does show the power of the internet. Some nut with a url he bought for a few bucks, some basic press releases and just being annoying can be seen as a real prospective business to some.
