  1. A big thank you to Six Flags for giving us the humor of people going nuts over if this a woody or steel coaster.
  2. That makes more seance as to why they had a full street party at the test for the virtual queue system last year. Time will tell if Animal Kingdom gets something for Summer Nightastic, as they are the only park left out.
  3. This story can only end well when it comes to entertainment. What it does make wonder is if the case goes into 2011, will it prevent Six Flags from adding Chang to some park as a 50th anniversary gift?
  4. Nice to see they are aiming for it to open this year. The race track/hotel next door is amazing from what was shown on the V8 Supercars broadcast last weekend. Can't wait to see more when the UFC hits the place later this summer.
  5. Sad to see the Disney-helped part of the park go up in flames. I love the bingo hall there and had a blast. I hope the park can restore the area and make it look better than ever.
  6. This also seems to be very true of BB. You don't just get a little wet on BB, you are soaked head to toe. Mix that in with the very cool weather in 2009 and the ride was destined to have a bad first year. My biggest problem with the ride is just the location. It is almost halfway between the parks other water rides and the water park. In theory it seemed like a grand idea, but it might have made more seance to do the ride like the huge flume at Holiday World who's name is escaping me. Half water park and half dry park. But oh well, the ride is still fun and great that it is always a walk-on.
  7. I've been wondering this same thing. My Manager, my District Manager, and another DM from our company were talking about it a couple weeks ago. They were trying to tell the other DM what it was and I over heard my Manager describe it as "They basically took IOA and re-did the whole thing as Harry Potter". Man, wont they be disappointing when they get there and find out it's only one of the sections in IOA that have been Harry Potter-ized! I've heard a decent amount of people talk about it like this. I hate looking like a knot-it-all, so I just keep my mouth shut. I'll have to tell my Manager though. This has been my concern with the entire project. People I know that want to go have thought the same thing. Even the local AAA travel office promotes the it that way. I worry for Universal, people will get there and think "that's it? I thought this was an entire park" and never return.
  8. ^ I can see it now..."Ride the Smashing Hammer and help bring the Demon down by the end of 2010 for a new major roller coaster. Only $45 a person ($40 each if two are riding) and trips to the hospital at the more flags, more fun price of only $25."
  9. Nothing says smart like trying to physically hurt yourself to get healthcare
  10. I love every part of this. A good idea to change things up during the summer to better stuff to get the guest to want to come back. Kudos to Disney for everything involved.
  11. So what happens when shares plummet again down to $9 or lower in a few months? I mean, an investor should know the stock price will jump to that of the sale price if there is an offer out there. However, some investors did/do not get that all. Of course the sale price was on the lower side, but this is also a company looking down the barrel at over 1.5 Billion in debt with shrinking profits.
  12. ^Even with the land on the other side of the road, they do not own all of it. The Thunder Run area, water park and Giant Wheel are large areas of the park. I'm willing to bet there is a part in the lease that says they must improve the park by X amount of dollars each year. Removing Chang (or any other ride) would count against that number. So even if they own it doesn't mean it is theirs to do with as theme please. One does have to remember there are not many rides in the park that Premier or Six Flags put in. Outside of the water park and some kids rides, only 5 rides are post 1997 in the park: Twisted Twins, Greezed Lightin', Road Runner Express, Blizzard River and the Sky Coaster. Even then, it is debatable on who paid for the Twisted Twins ride as it's timing based around the sell.
  13. ^I agree in a seance, but state fair boards tend to have a ton (and way too much) power in southern states. Got to wonder if the city and state had no real power over what the fair board did. The only way I can see the fair boards side is if they get to keep all the rides. I know at one point recent the original owner of SFKK wanted the park back. This would be a chance for them to sell the park to someone and get a new lease. This is all dependent on how much of the park gets to stay.
  14. Apparently the fair owns all of the rides and screwed the fair grounds out of Chang http://www.whas11.com/news/business/Whats-next-for-Six-Flags-Fair-Pres-says-rides-might-not-be-going-anywhere-83772172.html
  15. Another one bites the dust. But according to their employment application, they are owned by Mega Fun Parks, LLC. So who knows if they still own the place or not.
  16. I think it is HUSS as it is the same type as Cedar Point. The enterprise was oddly rough though, it could use some work.
  17. With the mayor's quote on rides, did they ever own the rides that were there before the park was bought by Premier? Or was it a lessee agreement that if they sold the rides their before they bought the park, they had to put X amount of dollars back into the park?
  18. That's a really cool deal. It's like a mini-study abroad program and coaster mixing.
  19. ^I was thinking the same on the Flex ticket, but who knows if Legoland will be added. Right now, from what one of the PR people said, the park will run by itself with no cross promotion with the Blackstone parks. They are treating Merlin and Blackstone as two different companies despite Blackstone owning Merlin.
  20. ^That entire section of the park has been closed for a year or 2. You can see one of the cars (or just the body) under Twisted Twins if you walk around the structure outside of the park (as in the sidewalk, no trespassing.)
  21. ^A nice breakdance, a wooden shoe ride and the carousel is about it. A lot of the flats were broken when we went in August.
  22. Six Flags St. Louis would be a perfect location. Right now the park has the mine train and Tony Hawk's Big Spin as their "small" coasters. Would be nice to see them add the roller skater. Plus it would only be a 4 or so hour move for the ride.
  23. ^That and their carousel. The international carousel is a work of art and amazing. Also sad to see the wonderfully theme rapids ride go. I wonder how many rides SF STL and SF Great America end up as they are the closest parks. I enjoyed my visit their last year and was planning to hit the park again on opening day this year (and get their $29.95 season pass.) Oh well, what can you do.
