  1. They could make every ride have amazing queue's. That important thing is maintaining the queues and things they put there. Disney does a great job with this. Six Flags however does not.
  2. Fellow Marylander here!
  3. Baltimore Pride this weekend! Can not wait even though its supposed to storm both days lol
  4. Roar is running great this year! I see them giving it the RMC treatment before putting in a new coaster because its cheaper. Six Flags Inc. always seems to take the cheaper option for this park. Plus they have a really good assortment of coasters for the people that come to this park. They still fawn over Jokers Jinx for gosh sakes. They know they do not need to put a lot of time and effort into this park because the same people are going to come back every year. For a lot of the people that go to Six Flags America this is their summer vacation. Most of them are from lower income areas so that season pass is their escape. I have had many conversations with some of the management at the park. They have a table at Baltimore Pride sometimes advertising the annual gay night so that is a great way to talk to some of the management outside of the park.
  5. Six Flags America Hershey Park Kings Dominion
  6. Had a blast this past weekend at the park. This was my first visit since back in 2011. This is definitely a better ran Six Flags park (keep mind I have not been to them all). The employees actually seemed like they wanted to be there unlike at my home park of Six Flags America. All of the coasters were running. Joker went down for a bit Saturday but they had it back up and running very quickly. Quick notes Good: - The park was beautiful with very little trash on the ground. The flowers were taken care of and well landscaped. - All of the rides looked like they were in decent to great shape - LOVE LOVE LOVE the new trains on Mind Eraser - its like a completely different ride. I wish Six Flags would replace them all with the new trains/restraints. - They have an awesome water park - Loved that I would use the season food option at Johnny Rockets - Loved all of the Gold Peak iced tea stands that have been added since I try to not drink a lot of soda. - Goliath was surprisingly smooth Bad: - Not enough food options. They have LOTS AND LOTS of food stands but they all sell the same things. I was tired of seeing fries everywhere. At least Six Flags America has way better side options with the main meals. - I would not pick my seat on Goliath, Flashback, and Batman. Not a big deal but I like to get a front and back seat on every coaster. I especially wanted a front seat on Goliath. - Another Six Flags with the bag storage rule but only on certain rides. - They should move all the fun activities they do in the main square to less crowded part of the park.
  7. Thank you everyone!! I did notice the prices - so crazy! We won't be riding single rider lines. I am obsessed with coasters but not enough to not enjoy them with my BF. I do not go to parks just to ride rides. I go to actually enjoy them and have a good time with the people I am with. I've been to the park back in 2011 with TPR so I know all about the front and back of Superman - we had 2 hours of ERT on it.
  8. ^ That is a A LOT of people for this park. When I was there 5/20/17 that only reason it was crowded was because there was a music competition in DC that weekend so they all had tix to the park. ...you know what, nevermind. And what is this supposed to mean? Why can't roar get the treatment? Its sister did in Discovery Kingdom and that park looks better then ours but is run like ours. The best run Six Flags that I have been to is SFNE. I will compare it this weekend to when I was there back in 2011. Even though they have A LOT of coasters at this park they have nothing that is stellar anymore. Superman is fun but I can ride more fun rides at Busch Gardens, Kings Dominion, Hersheypark, Kennywood, Six Flags Great Adventure, and Knoebels - all within 4 hours of Six Flags America. Same goes for the woodies - You have to step up your game when you are so close to Knoebels and Kennywood. Both parks consistently have some of the top rated wooden coasters in the world. The rest are just blah here. I just want to see them put some awesomeness in this park. Unfortunately, due to the clientele they do not need to. The people that go here eat up everything they already have. There are so many people that still rave about Superman. After I tell them about rides at the parks in the area they get quiet. The people that go to this park usually do not travel to the other local parks. Once I tell them Apocalypse and Ragin Cajan are used rides from Chicago they look baffled - most normal guest do not know they move rides around. We all can sit here and say "the park needs this" or "the park needs" that. Unfortunately, unless we are on the management team at the park we have no idea what the park truly needs. Apparently something is being done right because Six Flags has not sold it off yet. I do know though the park may stay with them for a while due to the ground it sits on being worth so much money. Six Flags used to have a table every year at Baltimore Pride and I had an awesome conversation with two managers from the park a few years ago about this.
  9. I live right outside Baltimore and I have such a love/hate relationship with this park its not funny. I went for the first time this season just to get my refillable cup so I can use at SFNE this weekend. This will be my last year getting a Six Flags Season pass. During my morning drive this morning I was actually running through in my head all the things wrong with this park. The park itself is not bad at all. They try to take care of it as much as possible. The grounds are usually pretty clean which sounds small but its actually huge because when this park first became a Six Flags it was not taken care of at all in regards to trash everywhere. Now you will see managers out walking around picking trash up and some do try to interact with guests. The overall feel of the park is lackluster and dated. Most of it just looks old and not taken care of. However, the guest that come to this park do not seem to care. Most of the people that come here live outside of DC in the worse off areas. So many of the buildings need a fresh coat of paint or some sort of remolding/fix. The lack of having a behind scenes area bothers me. I hate how you can see all of the storage area behind Ragin Cajan. It just looks tacky in my opinion. When I am visiting the park in the summer I do not want to see Halloween and Christmas decorations laying all over the place back there. There is also lots of broken up rides, buildings, quick serve food stands, etc. Mind Eraser needs a paint job bad. Actually lots of rides need a paint job bad within this park. The antique cars are pretty pathetic here at all. Where is the theming? Where is the amazing gardens that you could be driving through? Even a small park like Waldameer has impeccable gardens. When riding the swings I should not see skeletons laying on the roof of the theater next door. Why they never use all 3 sides of Voodoo Drop is beyond me. Every time I go 2 of the sides work and its never the same ones. The customer service in this park sucks terribly. It has gotten better over the years but it still needs an improvement. Many of the employees are more focused on their social lives then checking restraints. They constantly are bickering and things over the microphones at the rides. It really should not take more then 5 minutes to get a train out of the station on almost every run through. When Superman had the VR it was terrible. It literally took anywhere from 10-20 to get each train out. The line was constantly 2-3 hours when they were doing VR. Now that Mind Eraser will have it I am sure it will make that line just as long. The gleaming part of this park is the the wooden coasters - Roar and Wild One. Two of the best woodies in the area. Hopefully Roar will get the RMC treatment.
  10. Six Flags New England this weekend!
  11. For the locals... does this park tend to get crowded over Memorial Day weekend usually? I've only been to this park once and it was with TPR so we had lots of extras. I am from Baltimore and used to Six Flags America never getting crowded where you need the Flash Pass. Trying to get a really rough idea if we should get one Saturday or not? We'll be at the park all day Saturday and Sunday until closing and we want as many rides as possible on the coasters - especially at night. We're making Saturday a dry side day and Sunday the water park day.
  12. Went to Holiday in the Park on opening night (I know I am late with my response). It was raining all night so it was dead. Everything but the mouse was a walk on. I loved that they had pretty much the entire park available besides Gotham City. I almost wish they could have closed the kids area down since no one was there and opened up Superman and Jokers Kinx The lights in the park were very well done. We tried to watch the show about the kid being selfish but thought it was way to cheesy. I do not care what anyone says about this park. I honestly just take it for what it is and still have a blast every time I go. I ignore the employees negativity. So many employees were complaining about the cold and rain when we were there.
  13. I am excited for the Trioka. I think its a relaxing fun ride.
  14. I just put the cup in my sling bag and carry it with me that way. But I know most enthusiast are anti bag. Also, why doesn't Six Flags as a whole sell real brewed un-sweet iced tea?!?!?!!? I just do not get it. So many people drink that as an alternative to soda. That is my favorite drink and I HATE the nasty sweet Fuze tea they serve. I miss when they had Chick Fil A and I could get tea that way. I loved being at Darien Lake and them having Tim Horton's so I could get my brewed un-sweet tea. Also, Knoebels has it too, at least last time I was they did. Also, places do not have to legally serve free water.
  15. Hello everyone! I know I have been really quiet this summer on here but I have a favor to ask of all my fellow theme park lovers. There is a regional magazine in DC called Metro Weekly and this year they started their weekly cover boy of the week again. I was picked back in July to be a cover boy. They do a professional photo session and lengthy interview. Also, you get to be the the first page of the nightlife section of the magazine. Then at the end of each month people could vote for cover boy of the month and somehow I won July!! Now I am up for cover boy of the year! If any of you don't mind using your email address and zip code to put in a vote for me I'd love that. I am robert on the list. You can click my picture to read my interview and see more pics from my photo shoot. If I win I get to do another photo shoot and get to be truly on the cover of the magazine. 16. ^ Looking good sir!
  17. The loop is a great addition for this small park. Its good to see them putting more and more money into the park. I do think its funny that a carnival ride that has been around since the 70's (Super Loop) is finally taking over the amusement park world... whats next a takeover of the tilt a whirl, round up, scrambler, octopus as the "new" ride of the moment? lol
  18. No huge trips planned, going to try to scale back and do lots of mini weekend trips. Already renewed my Six Flags season pass. Next summer the BF and I are planning on hitting many of the Six Flags near the east coast. -Six Flags New England -Six Flags Great America -Six Flags Over Georgia -Great Escape Maybes: -Six Flags St. Louis -Six Flags Mexico And even further out we plan on skipping Six Flags seasons passes all together i n 2018 and moving on to Cedar Fair since hes never been to most of their parks in the area.
  19. I'll be going this Saturday night after going to the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord Hotel near DC. I know this park gets lots of hate. However, its my home park and I try to stand behind it. It is a lot better then it was about 5-6 years ago. They cleaned it up and are at least trying to have better service. The park itself is nice - decent coaster line up and great water park. Its honestly the people who work and go there that make it crap. I am excited for this new Xmas celebration they are doing and I hope it does well so they can continue to do it. When I talked to the park earlier in the summer they said almost everything will be open for this HITP event, however I know things change.
  20. Six Flags America this Saturday for their first Holiday In the Park.
  21. Awesome addition to this park. This park is such a great place for families.
  22. It's called personal preference. Height speed and steepness do not make *always* = great ride. Many people would think I'm crazy that I rank Runaway Mine Train and Skull Mountain over Kingda Ka at my home park but its simply because I enjoy them more. It's not that I don't like big and fast - look at my top 10. I, and I feel like many people in this community are open minded enough about all rides big and small, especially classics that have aged well, and can appreciate a ride regardless of its speed and height. This, and also the more coasters you ride the more you come to appreciate unique experiences. For example, I love B&M hypers / gigas but when you ride 10 of them they all kind of blend together (except Fury of course... OMFG that thing is perfection). The same can be said for a lot of other coaster types by other manufacturers too. Take GCI for example, they're all great but they're mostly all pretty similar experiences. Then you come across something like Whizzer or a really weird Mine Train and in a way it's a breath of fresh air. YES!! I could not have said that better myself. I LOVE classic coasters, sometimes more then the big thrilling ones for this reason. Look at somewhere like Kennywood who has several old classic coasters that still to this day rival many of the newer ones. Sames goes for flats for me. I rather ride Demon Drop then almost all over drop rides.
  23. Six Flags America: 1. Superman: Ride of Steel 2. Roar 3. The Wild One 4. Mind Eraser 5. Joker's Jinx 6. Ragin Cajan 7. Batwing 8. Apocalypse 9. Great Chase
  24. Who cares if its considered a coaster or not... Any who... I think this would fit great in a park like Six Flags America where it doesn't get crowded and the general public eat up everything, gotta push my home park hehe Also, I think this would be a good fit or Knoebels., Waldameer, or Delgrossos.
  25. Going to the park this Saturday... ...do they offer any discounts (buy one get one, etc) for season pass holders for Flash Pas during Halloween? Six Flags America and Fiesta Texas have in the past.
