MrX8991 replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Deal! In fact I'll throw in a free pen to all orders that go out this week! --Robb -"And there was much rejoicing. Yay." ~ Monty Python and the Holy Grail -

Wow, I didn't realize that was random. My brother got one with the first DVD he bought! -
Favorite first drop on a Steel Coaster
MrX8991 replied to SpectralN's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd say my three favorite in no particular order are Millennium Force (you're basically dropping for 5 seconds), Maverick (20 mph launch into 95 degree drop = lots of ), and Raging Bull for being very steep with a small tunnel at the bottom. -
Funny Things That Go Unnoticed

One of my favorites from a while ago from a safety sign for Space Mountain in WDW that said Space Mountain is "out of this would!" -

Wow, I think that's the last idea anybody would've guessed for that coaster. It's a very interesting ride that I'd love to see in motion! -
Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
MrX8991 replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Best Endings -Maverick: Really, the whole second half of the ride is insane! -California Screamin': I consider the airtime hills the beginning of the end. -Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Paris version): You're going fast through the caves under the river with no real idea of which direction you're going until you suddenly fly up and into the brakes. Much better than the American versions. Worst Endings -Raptor: Don't get me wrong, I love the really intense helix at the end of the ride, but there is just something wrong about the banking at the end of the ride. It's like it goes from banked to straight too fast. Even when I knew it was coming, I still banged my head into the restraint. -Gemini: Similar to Raptor. The end helix is intense, but something is weird with the track's banking right before the brake run. -Mean Streak: This gets a special place on here because my brother and I actually got splinters thrown in our face heading into the final stretch. -Also, Revenge of the Mummy (Florida) and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (US versions) for reasons already stated. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

Yeah, I'm well aware that that's what the dad was thinking, but I thought it was funny that the kid was right. -
Top 5 wood and steel coasters
MrX8991 replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Steel 1: Millennium Force (CP): I love its speed, its height, pretty much everything about it! 2: Maverick (CP): VERY CLOSE second, it's insanely fun, but with the quick turns, you really have to work to keep your head/neck from hitting the restraints. 3: California Screamin' (DCA): Just plain fun all around. I love the airtime hills! 4: Raging Bull (SFGAm): My first hyper coaster, and a very good ride all around. 5: Space Mountain: De la Terre a la Lune (RIP) (DP Paris): It may have been rough as heck, but the theming and soundtrack made this ride amazing. Too bad it's been replaced by Mission 2. Wood 1: Viper (SFGAm): I've been on only a few woodies, and this ride is great all around. 2: Blue Streak (CP): Lots of airtime. Did I mention I've been on only a few woodies, hence why this is second? 3: Screamin Eagle (SFStL): I went on this probably over 10 years ago. All I remember is that I like it. 4: American Eagle (SFGAm): I actually don't like this ride. I've just been on so few woodies that I have to put it down. 5: Mean Streak (CP): Yeah, it's in my top 5, but only because I've only been on 5 (My sig says 6 because it counts both tracks of American Eagle as separate rides, and I don't). I really need to get to Great Adventure and ride El Toro. -
It's been a while since I've posted any rides here (I guess just "ride"), and it's been a while since I've made a coaster on No Limits. For those of you who were here about 7 months ago, you may remember a coaster I was working on called "The Twist". It was a spinning coaster with a half-pipe element, and a first ever "spinning lift hill". Well, 7 months later, I decided to can the "spinning lift hill" and actually finish the ride. Here it is, my first spinning coaster, Typhoon! [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Typhoon_d888[/coastertube] The half-pipe element. Close-up of the first drop. Overview of the ride. Typhoon.nltrack Now ride it yourself!

The park is looking good right now! For some reason or another, when I look at that coaster, it seems to me like it's an Maurer Sohne X-Car coaster, but with B&M trains. -
Most Overrated coaster?
MrX8991 replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I guess I'd say Magnum XL 200. Some people believe this ride is amazing, and while I think it's good, it's not the greatest ride ever like some people claim it is. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
MrX8991 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This was a conversation between a dad and his son overheard by my brother in a Disney's California Adventure bathroom. Dad: That Tower of Terror sure was different than the one at Universal Studios. Do you know why? Kid: No. Dad: Because on this Tower of Terror, the floor opened up and you saw yourself drop. Another one took place in an Epcot bathroom between a dad and his son. I always like this one because the kid was smarter than the dad. Dad: Boy, Epcot sure is great, and tomorrow, we're going to Disney World! Kid: Aren't we already in Disney World? Dad: No, today, we're in Epcot. Tomorrow, we'll be in Disney World. It's a common mistake, but I love the fact that the kid already knew they were in Disney World. -
NL - British Invasion
MrX8991 replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Awesome ride! My only complaint is that it was a bit too short, but the constant speed, nice use of the terrain, intense elements, and wonderful pacing made this ride spectacular! -
[NL] Stand-Up Contest!!

Although both coasters were really well done, I voted for Eric_Smith and Voltage for the uniqueness, pacing, and for the heartline twist drop. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
MrX8991 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, but I'm still not sure how the Lion King roller coaster got into it. Then again, that kid always told stories that weren't true at all. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

My top 3 are as follows. 3) Some guy coming off of Millennium Force last summer - "Wow, I think that's the tallest coaster in the world!" (Talking about Millennium Force). Never mind the fact that there's a giant yellow and red coaster 100 feet taller right in front of him. 2) Some kid at school - "My favorite part about Batman the Ride is when you drop into the tunnel and go through the three corkscrews." 1) I once got in an argument at school with someone who claimed they went to Disney's Animal Kingdom in 1992 and really liked the Lion King Roller Coaster. No matter how hard I tried to tell him that every single word of that statement is wrong, he said I was stupid and didn't know anything. -

Which Orlando Waterpark is The Best?

I'm not a huge water park fan, but I like the atmosphere of Typhoon Lagoon the best. Plus, the Wave Pool is good. -

...You're having fun with this, aren't you? It looks a lot like Steel Hawg track, but I just can't figure it out. I'm not giving up just yet though. -
