  1. Fantastic photos! Windseeker is a great looking ride, day or night!
  2. Great update! Looks like everybody had an awesome day at Tobo and Hanayashiki! Kawasemi does a good job at packing a lot of awesome into a small space; I'm still somewhat surprised that only 4 Mega-lites have been built with the great ratings TPR has given them (although that keeps them unique and exciting).
  3. ^^Thank you! Rainbow Magicland is one of those parks that you really wouldn't know about if you didn't see the construction update because it is so new and TPR hasn't been there yet. I do, too. ^That's great to hear that it's a good ride! I hope I get on it before June is over. I completely agree: the park should've waited a little while before opening, but once everything is completely open it'll be a lot better. I wanted to post the two videos I took while at Rainbow Magicland. I took a partial POV of Drakkar (that is, until my camera got wet and I had to turn it off to inspect it; thankfully it's fine) and a second POV of Cagliostro, this time with the strobe lights on. Subscribe to me on YouTube if you'd like to see more POVs and videos!
  4. ^^^The park indeed does have a lot to offer. While being more child-oriented, it has top-notch theming and a few good thrillers, and in the big picture I agree that it's good competition for Mirabalandia and Gardaland because it'll draw people from all around southern and central Italy. I'm sure the kinks with Shock will be ironed out over the year... I just need it to be open for 1 day that I'm there just so I can ride and get a POV. ^^I hope I do, too. It was a bright day, but my camera's flash was also going off unusually often, so that might've contributed to the problem. They've improved the situation with shade slightly as you may have noticed with the park entrance and Bombo Run's queue, but I certainly agree that it needs some more. All the park needs to do is install a fan on the roof of that switchback (very low roof, though) and that'll get it a lot more comfortable. Heat with V:tBC makes sense, but not for MC Escher: The Ride (or Cagliostro as you said correctly ). ^It is a nice park! I hope you can visit someday when Shock and Mystika are open. The line for this was too long, and Marco wasn't exactly interested, so we skipped. My dad, being the crazy guy he is, found and threw this random bread roll at me. This is your common flying ride, themed to flying fairy girl things. Seriously, everything here is is named 'Pop' something! Is it just me, or is this water area something new that's been added in the month since I was last here. Time for Pop Tower! Marco and I try to have a good time, despite the fact that we were probably the oldest kids on the ride. WHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Marco insisted on pulling, so I just focused on being sad and pathetic looking. Freaking out on Amerigo, too. LOL! That girl behind us probably thinks we're insane. Hey, Ronnie! How's it goin'? Ronnie does a pretty long cycle, and everybody seemed to be having fun. That's the highest he goes. Marco decided to leave Ronnie's line, and we noticed this while heading toward Cagliostro! It's testing! Will it be dropped? Nope. It was just brought up and lowered down. This interruption of the the test shots of Mystika is brought to you by Ignarra Motors. We now return to previously scheduled nerd shots. I try to look over the bushes To get a shot of the vehicle. There we go!... sorta... Cagliostro makes its brief outside appearance before heading back inside. I'm guessing that's apart of the queue, but who knows....? Could this have an onride photo, too? This ride just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. Take the tunnel! (Translation: Marco and I were able to withstand the tunnel's heat once again to get another ride on Cagliostro.) I decide to take a look at Mystika's queue. The entrance once again. Can you tell that I like to take vertical shots of drop towers? Mom, dad, and I get ice cream form that little shop. Marco decides against it and gets a water instead. Has this become the world's most beautiful LIM-launched lawn ornament? L'OV's camera is working! They need to work on the flash... as you can see, my face was overdeveloped. The children seem to like the airbrush painting. Marco and I decide to ride Yucatan again. Dad takes pictures from the observation bridge. This head was very interesting... Mr. Dragon dude was NOT happy! Here we go! SSSKLOOOOOOOOSSSHHHHHHH! Drop 1 got us wet! Time for drop 2! They have some weird animatronics in there. Drop 2 got us completely soaked! Dan would die in the seat that I am in. Goodnight, everybody! More testing. Hey little mechanic dude! How is it to be standing ontop of the catchcar? This time it went all the way to the top! Two guys having a leisurely conversation 70 meters in the air.... that's almost like standing ontop of Goliath's lift hill at SFMM! Some more weird faces! Marco takes some artsy shots from the grass... That non-inverting loop is so nommy! This area has already sunk down a little bit! That lady down there gave us a few more specifics about Shock's downtime. Apparently, a part broke yesterday (when we first arrived) and a new one had to be sent from Germany. She said that it would most likely be down for 4-5 days. Why the heck weren't we told this yesterday at the front gate?!? Blarg. Flying Island (now with its more suitable Italian translation) has been broken as well. No panorama shots today. It'd better be open next time I come! We might as well check out Shock's arcade. Racing game where you can have your own picture. Prepaid cell phones as prizes? Interesting... Ben 10 is popular in Italy, too. Gettoni = Tokens in Italian. Basketball game. Awesome Shock shirt, reasonableish price. 12 Euro = about $18. See 'ya later, gargoyles! Hope to see you again when Shock finally works right! Arrivederci, Magicland! Anybody want a few park maps? We leave the parking lot, stop at a gas station, grab some snacks, and hit the road heading north for Spello. Thanks for reading!
  5. ^^^Agreed, and you have no idea how much anticipation I've had to ride it! Overall, though, Rainbow Magicland is a pretty good park. All it needs is a couple of decent flats and I think it'd be a well balanced park. Thank you! ^^The coaster lineup is pretty small, but I think they did a good job at getting the coasters to 'progressively' become more thrilling. I'm sure this is one of few theme parks in Italy that actually has a few English signs; big parks like Gardaland will probably have some English signs, but if it isn't very big or is not near a tourist destination, I'd doubt that it would has English signs. ^I've noticed that too! Schwarzkoph Shuttle Loopers are not only very reliable, but are also very compact and pretty thrilling, too. I think LIM/LSM launch coasters are the worst for reliability, so this shouldn't be too much of a surprise to me. Part 2 I spotted a few employees being used as the test dummies for the new picnic grove. They put a fence around this tree as well! Hey dude! Is it hard to stand up in that raft? Just like before, short line and decent queue music. This trip report is brought to you, in part, by Spoken Beer: You'll get so drunk, you'll think our beer can talk to you! The fact that the original view has changed is a sign of progress! Raft storage is still in its development stage. This queue system could use a little big of redeveloping, though. Soooo..... much...... water! Group 'Dan would NOT approve all this wetness!' shot! German print of awesomeness, Intamin seal of approval! Lift hill shot for you lift hill nerds. One of these does not belong... Ba humbug! One of the catchnets has been mounted, as you can see. Up Down Stop! Artsy time! Thanks to Marco for those two shots! As I said on my 1st TR, this ride isn't quite as gracefully supported as other accelerator coasters... but it's twwWWWWWIIIIIIISSSTYYYYYYYYYyyyyy! And that's what matters most. Wait, did I say anything about how fast this curve looks? Obligatory 'Mystika-from-all-possible-angles' shot. Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts! It's time for the Vekoma Roller Skater! This one's for you, Hanno! Another angle... Hey, is that a shed? Totally diggin' that wheel assembly. Should've waited another 1/2 second... Aachooooo! Don't enter this building if you have a monster allergy! They've added some shade to help protect you from the sun. We noticed all sorts of trash below the ride, including a pair of sunglasses and a few water bottles. 14? Doesn't this train hold 16 people? Ready for some more Vekoma awesomeness? Lift hill, shed, and new direction signs. Magnetic brakes are so smooth... if only there weren't blocked by the new shed. Instead of a POV, I'll just take a few onride photos. Here is the beginning of our ascent up the lift hill. Are we ready to go? You get a nice view of Shock from Bombo Run's lift hill. Bwwwoooossshhh! How's it goin', Marco and dad? Comfortable, simple, and Vekoma are all 3 words that could be used to describe the restraints on this coasters. Shed: The Ride was pretty good, too! I'd definitely consider putting one of these in my theme park! In fact, I could almost be considered a true Vekoma Roller Skater fanboy! Part 3 will come soon! Stay tuned!
  6. That's funny; I submitted a guess that Bassotto was the coaster that deathbydinn posted on the Guess this Coaster game. Is it just me, or do those child-sized ATVs seem to be popular at Italian mini-parks?
  7. I visited Rainbow Magicland again last weekend with my friend Marco, hoping that a month would be enough time for Shock - The Steam Machine and other rides to open. But was it enough time? We get there on Friday night, hoping to avoid the crowds and heat, as well as get some night rides in. While waiting on news from the info booth, I noticed the new arches over the entrance turnstiles, as well as the new Hyundai (I SPELLED IT CORRECTLY!! OMG!) parked out front. What I found out: Shock had been open since June 8th, but was operating relatively unreliably. It had just broken down a couple hours before and we were told it *MIGHT* operate the next day. So we headed for our hotel in Rome and were hopeful that it'd be open tomorrow. FAIL for now, but will things be better tomorrow? Next day..... Have things changed at Rainbow Landmagic? SFMM could seriously use these! They help keep parked cars a lot cooler, they help define parking spaces, and they are a great way to help the park save on energy (Environmental Enthuseast much? ). Now that the park is in high gear (or is it?) for the summer, the parking system is now working. Parking cost is 5 Euros, but instead of paying when you arrive, you come in and pay before you leave the parking lot. You can pay before you enter the park if you'd like, or you can pay after you're done. We're back, this time with many more people. Current admission prices. Sadly, Shock was not open today, but we still decided to make a day of it. They managed to get the shades on; already an improvement since last night! Looks like they finished some landscaping since my last visit. Gargoyles still sit atop their perches. Tick Tock! Crik Crok! Dufour's mascot is a chubby dolphin. Just thought you'd like to know that. I walked up with my camera and he just made a pose with the cotton candy! These Italians are awesome! So, let's find out what's going on. The firefighters told us that both Shock and Isola Volante (Flying Island) were closed today. Such a hard credit for me to get! It's still nowhere near as good as CP's afro fountain! Picnic grove under construction near Drakkar. Yucatan is open. "RAWR! I am a dinosaur! Give me 5 Euro and I'll let you in!" It's time for L'Olandese Volante! Olandese Volante = Flying Dutchman Both trains were running, so lines weren't bad. We probably waited 20 minutes at most. Obligatory lift hill shot. Vekoma's newer lap bars are very simple and somewhat comfortable. A far cry from SLC OTSRs of death! They've set up the onride camera, but it didn't work for our ride. The angle of the camera makes it hard to see unless you're looking straight to the left. Rainbow Cat has been replaced with boring Olandese Volante bowls and mugss. Olandese Volante logo. Pretty cool, if you ask me. OV's landscaping is ok, but you can tell it's new. Stuff on the stage... wonder what's going on over there... Mystika seems to be progressing along smoothly. This ice cream shop has also opened. The fencing has been taken down and lots of landscaping has been completed. The entrance is kinda cool. The queue is short but windy... I'm assuming a few railings will be put up to increase its capacity, though. MC Escher: The Ride, here we come! One reason why we should've known that Shock was going to be closed today! Wall has already been broken. That switchback way down there should have a fan; it was very hot and we actually stood back to keep from having to experience it. In fact, somebody passed out from heat exhaustion. Much rather hold up the line (and the people behind us agreed) than go into the hot, sweaty tunnel. Batman queue theming? I need to lose weight or else I won't be able to ri.... oh, those kind of bags. (H)ALT Instead of taking an onride video, I took a few onride shots. And yes, they finally turned on the strobe lights. Brake run before the last lift hill. You go up slightly sideways. Volcano Helix of Death! IT FALLEN? NOT HAS WHY Helix is so twwwIIIISSSSSTTYYYYYYYYYYyyy! They put gates up around the alligators to keep people from ripping them apart. Yucatan again, this time with a much shorter line! Pissed off dragon will show water at you! They did a fantastic job at making the speakers and lights blend it. Ideally, each boat holds 20 people. 2 lift hills, 2 splashdowns. Construction going on over there.... what could it be? We'll find out later; right now, it's time to get wet! Before... After. He didn't get us wet at all. He missed our boat. Looks like they have an onride photo planned for this, too. Pay 1 Euro and you can dry off in this thing! I am SUPER WET! We head over to that restaurant with the dinosaur ontop to see if we can find something to eat... (Anybody notice the fail?) They just sorta rip the meat off of the hunk for the kebabs! Prosciutto sandwich, drink, veggies, and fries! Weird bendy straw spoon device. Part 2 coming soon!
  8. Nice photos so far! Zoomarine has been advertising a lot lately, but I haven't had a chance to see much of the park yet. Aside from Vertigo I knew nothing of the parks ride selection; looks decent for an animal park. And I'm glad the shows are good. I hope I can visit soon! I can't wait to see if you got a ride on Shock at Magicland.
  9. Hypersonic XLC, Big Bad Wolf, GASM, Maliboomer, Chang, Invertigo, and Stealth's removals were all pretty shocking to me. HXLC was a major attraction at KD; although not the most reliable, it certainly drew guests to the park. BBW was a classic ride, and it's sad that it left. The park said that it had reached the end of its life, but I could've seen it operating for at least another 5 years. GASM was another classic, and I never heard of many problems other than roughness. It could've easily gotten a refurb to make it better. Maliboomer, while certainly not the most popular ride at DCA, was good Space Shot. I'd buy it if Disney isn't planning on doing anything with it. Chang was the main reason to go to SFKK, and I knew something fishy was up with the park when it was removed (although the fishyness turned out to be a bit different than what I expected it to be). Even with the problem last year, I wouldn't have expected Invertigo to be removed. Of course the problem isn't the real reason behind its removal, but it's rather weird that CF just removed it as apart of a business decision, as it looked like it was doing well at CGA. Stealth also seemed to have a bright future as one of CGA's star attractions, but business decisions again thought otherwise.
  10. My favorite woodie is definitely Termina... I mean, Apocolypse at SFMM. So smooth, so fast, so awesome... and so many tunnels. My favorite steel is a good tie between TTD at Cedar Point, Xcelerator at Knott's Berry Farm, and X2 at SFMM.
  11. Great video and pictures! I really like the new additions DC Universe got, including, of course, Green Lantern. At first, I didn't think GL would be a good fit for a large park like SFMM, mainly because of its low capacity. However, I think the single rider line will definitely help to maximize the load for each car, and it looks like the public response to this ride is pretty good. GL has a neat theme, IMO. A few of the Zac-Spins I've seen seem to lack good theming, but the 'Power Ring' ACTUALLY makes sense. I, like anybody who hasn't ridden it yet and knows that it's not right to completely judge a ride before riding it, agree that the arm guards aren't a big deal. I've never ridden a ride with them before, and I tend to be a hand raiser, but a Zac-Spin is the kind of ride I'd honestly want to keep my hands down on. And besides, Intamin restraints are comfy; an arm guard isn't going to make them suddenly suck. Overall, I'm glad an American park finally stumbled on the awesomeness that Europe had to itself for a while, and I hope a couple more American parks can take advantage of its many benefits.
  12. The expansion to the zoo sounds like a good idea. Dania Beach Hurricane looks like a great ride and I'd love to see it go to a new home. However, as said above, Miami needs a bigger anchor to draw people before Zoo Miami can expand. A waterpark would be a decent start IMO, and if it bring in lot sof people, expansion to the zoo can compliment it.
  13. Good report! I went to SWO in February and I had a great time, but these new shows look fantastic! I caught the Believe show; disappointing after it had to be toned down. The new One Ocean show looks great, and the Clyde & Seamore seemed to be great as always. If only I could've gotten a frozen lemonade...
  14. TPR had a GOOD day at Fuji-Q? THAT is news. I've honestly thought that this was a good looking park that simply had bad operations and was located in an area that had a lot of precipitation. This is proof that a good day with 'decent' operations and low crowds can make a world of difference for a park. Great update, can't wait to see more!
  15. This comes as no suprise to me, but I still hate to hear about a big park like that was turned down because of 10 decibals of noise and some neighbors who like to complain. A NASCAR track was supposed to come to my home county back in Washington... but neighbors concerned about increased traffic and noise for a week shot it down. I do agree that this is more like a 'Vegas-style' attraction, and I'm sure that more will come from this project.
  16. Great TR! I am rather familiar with Hopi Hari; I've played with a recreation of it on RCT2 and I've looked into the park a lot. It's a good looking park, and I'd definitely consider a visit if I was ever down there. Welcome to TPR, and thanks for sharing your pictures!
  17. Looks like it was a great event! Another winner from TPR!
  18. Unfortunately, I dragged building rides and advertising out too long, and I haven't payed off the loan. I also didn't get enough guests in before the March 1st, Year 6th. Although the park is certainly not 'complete', I feel rather satisfied with how far I got and I'd like to post it at least for 100 extra points. My version of Vintage Acres (link to the exchange) has a much larger and more well rounded selection of rides than when it was started. Teh Big Dipper is completely intact, with its original name and some new paint (on the trains and the railings), but the two other coasters were improved and moved around the park to increase the efficiency of the space. Several newer rides were added, including a Vekoma Mine Train, an Intamin Drop Tower, and a Maurer Sohne Wild Mouse coaster. But a few classic rides were added, too, like a Carousel, a slide, a Ferris Wheel, a vintage car ride, and a Crazy House. My park has 5 main areas: Vintage Alley, Corkscrew Corridor, Gentle Gardens, Mine Town, and Kinder Park. SCR30.BMP The park entrance, Kinder Park, and the beginnings of Vintage Alley and Corkscrew Corridor. SCR34.BMP Lightning Loop and the back of Garden Flyer. SCR35.BMP Mine Train, Scenic Cruisers, and Eureka! SCR38.BMP Overview of the park.
  19. I'll be cutting the deadline really close, but I should be able to finish the park by 'Close of business Monday'. All 3 versions of the park I tried before failed, and I'm working on the 4th version which has a much better layout than the others. I'm going out today and I'll need to work on it when I get home, but once again I should be good to go before midnight tonight.
  20. My last coaster was Cagliostro at Rainbow Magicland.
  21. I was talking with a friend about Isla Magic today in math class; what a coincidence that a TR of it is on TPR now! Nice report! I like how the park is well balanced overall, but I agree that it could use one more good coaster. That's too bad that the Vekoma mine train never made it, I think it would've fit well in the park... While not 'extravagant', I think the theming of the park is actually pretty nice.
  22. Ha, I have the Wacky Worm credity before you do. Congrats on the milestone! I still have some catching up to do... Hopefully living in Italy will help me with that.
  23. I'd tear down either Mean Streak at CP or Colossus at SFMM, unless they could get decent rehabs.
