  1. Merry Christmas everybody! I got a Kinect sensor for my Xbox 360, and that's it. Considering all of the stuff I got beforehand, though, I'm suprised I got anything at all.
  2. Totally awesome video, and I'm definitely taking that PSA to heart.
  3. Kinda random and off topic, but I just noticed this. Remember that quote from this update? Just a coincidence I noticed, since the ride would eventually become TS:TR... Too bad it doesn't get to keep the theme, although the preshow going away is welcome.
  4. Here are my favorite photos of 2010. Here's to some good photos in 2011! Wild Thing at Wild Waves Theme Park. I-5 Dive at Wild Waves Theme Park. Timberaxe at Wild Waves Theme Park. Extreme Scream at the Puyallup Fair. Big Sling at the Puyallup Fair. Aftershock at Silverwood Theme Park. Aftershock again. Boomerang at SFDK. V2: Vertical Velocity at SFDK. Panic Plunge at Scarywood. Me on Screamin' Swing at Rocky & Bullwinkle's Family Fun Center. (Credit to my parents for this photo)
  5. When I first saw this coaster presented as a concept, I thought it really was funky and strange. But now, as it's being put together, it actually looks pretty cool; that Figure-8 is certainly unique! I definitely can't wait to take some photos when I'm down in Florida in February!
  6. It's so nice to see this park again! I got caught up watching other topics, but I found it... and my, what a lot of change! Keep up the great work!
  7. Good, I guess. You just need to know how to ride it, that's all. I had trouble remembering my name after riding Kong, and it's nowhere near the worst!
  8. ^Ugghh... I haven't even ridden one and I can feel the pain as well.
  9. Ghostrider, definitely. My spine and the spines of many others would thank Rocky Mountain for it.
  10. A way tie between Aftershock, RRC, and Expedition Everest.
  11. I stopped by Coney Island while I was in New York for Thanksgiving, and I saw pieces for the new Zamperla flying coaster! I don't know if any pictures were posted, but I'll share mine anyways. A few pieces of track. Some supports, I believe. More supports, with the Parachute Jump Tower in the background. Even more supports, with some track. Overview of the entire lot. Closeup of the track on the right. Closeup of the supports on the left.
  12. I agree with the complaints on foliage, more tree varieties and a few bushes here and there will make it look better. But as above, I agree that this coaster looks better as I look at it more.
  13. This is bittersweet news for me. Wild Waves has become a lot cleaner, better managed, and more reasonable in general with PARC, but at the same time they haven't had many new additions. Not just rides, but better pathways, facilities, trash cans, and lights. Only time will tell, but I hope the new owners will keep up the good park managment, as well as add some new stuff...
  14. I'm thankful for such a thing as a theme park industry... but I can't help but mention Intamin coasters and drop towers.
  15. Timberhawk fits in perfectly at exactly 75', so I'd have to say Timberhawk.
  16. ^Same here, I didn't think about it too much either. If you look at the length of the brake run and imagine the train going into it at 120+ MPH (assuming the drag slowed it down that much), it certainly wouldn't have enough room to come to a complete stop. If the ride entered the brake run at a *SLIGHTLY* higher speed it would probably be able to stop, but looking at it now I guess the whole final bunny hop would have to be removed to install enough brakes to slow it down. Now that I consider the points brought up, I understand the ride can't quite go full speed ahead into the 1st hill. But I still think a few trims could be removed; just enough to give the ride a faster pace.
  17. Formula Rosso looks like such an awesome ride, even with the trims!
  18. ^I guess that's a good point; it wouldn't need trims if the 1st hill wasn't right after the launch. Maybe trims wouldn't be necessary if the hill was later in the layout or it it was much taller?
  19. ^I agree that the trims don't completely kill the ride (in fact, they add some braking force to the ride), and that they keep the ride from being overly intense, but wouldn't you at least like to know what this thing is like going all out? Maybe you're not a big Intamin Rocket coaster fanboy like I am, but I personally think that the speed of this thing should be kept for a little bit longer before just being taken away by trims.
  20. That noise seriously makes me drool. It's like Kingda Ka, but for an extra second, and a LOT faster!
  21. This coming from someone who is 15! I for one do not think IAAPA is better than sex. But... It is pretty darn close. I haven't even had sex yet and I still think it's better!
  22. IAAPA > All the pie, cheese, milk, Intamin, and sex in the world, even if it was combined into one big ball of awesomeness. Seriously. Those videos and updates were awesome! IAAPA always makes me exited for the next year, and I can definitely say that it makes me exited for 2011! Patrick "Helicopter Drop Tower in my backyard?" Carnahan
  23. I think the new coaster would be better if you got rid of 2 flat s-turns: the one before the 1st helix and the one over the water before the final sloped turn. Also, I think a better name could be used. Otherwise it's a pretty good coaster.
  24. ^Actually, I agree with you. I'm sure the layout will be the same, but I think that complicated, unreliable cable lift system needs to be replaced. I honestly think the cable lift was the main downfall of the GIB; the cable lift system was to blame for most of its downtime issues, its sensitivity to weather, and its issues with stalling. Somebody (I forget who) presented the idea of a LIM system instead, and if Vekoma was able to pull it off I think the GIB would be so much better.
  25. Wow, this IAAPA looks like a lot of fun! Did Robb get a chance to visit Silverwood's booth? (I have my reasons to ask )
