  1. I doubt Ultra Twister will be rebuilt. It's been cannibalized for spare parts. And I seriously doubt the park's getting a B&M, whether it's Zepplin, the Mystery Coaster, or custom. SFI wouldn't do that for a park below flagship-status (like SFMM, SFGADV, etc). I could see a Tony Hawk clone, at best. I could see Eagles from HRP. And I could not see anything else going here. Maybe some used flats, but nothing big. $0.02>
  2. Why does the paint already look faded? Did they decide to age the color scheme by 5 years to add to the "rustic" feel of the ride? Come on, it's not a painful ride It's a rustic experience.
  3. Because coaster enthusiasts like ourselves would snoop the manufacturing plant/construction sites, take pictures of stickers with the ride's destination, and reveal multi-million dollar secrets that weren't meant to be found out. So B&M switched to barcodes. And soon they'll have to do another switcheroo, because I'm sure we'll have this system busted before this ride's announced officially. And I got word from the Dip-n Dots guy: -- This is a mini-dive machine going to Cypress Gardens.
  4. Why would SFI change the layout of an already existing coaster? That involves new footers, and a lot of other work. SFI is focusing on refurbishing their old rides, not rerouting them. I'm stumped. I don't know where it's going, but Cedar Fair's probably behind it. As to the Texas project Tatum mentioned, I hope not. I don't think parks should start out Season 1 with a B&M (coughHRPcough)
  5. I LOVELOVELOVE the drop on Loch Ness Monster. As well as MegaZeph's. I miss it. And I really enjoyed the last time I rode GASM at SFOG.
  6. I caught EE in the early summer of 07. Luckily, the yeti was still alive. The mist was working the first day, but when we came back two days later it was off. I can't recall if BOAS was working or not, because I was turning around trying to watch the switch. Which I really couldn't do well. Yeah, nerd. I think the strobelight gag can hold the ride over until rehab. Nobody really notices unless they know it's there. I was talking about it with my cousin when we had exited and the girls behind us went "A yeti almost attacked the train?" GP, gotta love em. Alex
  7. This sucks for the HRP investors, but I can't help laughing at this. And I like how the enthusiasts called this months ago.
  8. Forgive me for going off-topic with this, but was there some issue between Intamin and SFI after Kingda Ka/El Toro? Nothing's been made since, and I vaguely remember reading somewhere that SFI had to build 3 major Intamin installations for SFGADV..... Throw down your wisdom.........now.
  9. Gravity Group said that BB can withstand a Cat 3 Hurricane...... but can it stand a Cat 3 followed by trainloads of ACErs?
  10. I remember only doing the smaller version of the regular kit, and then quitting it. Question, can you give me the name of the song please? It's catchy :] Thanks! And Merry Christmas!
  11. I wouldn't see why not, but it's all a matter of distributing the train's weight. Plus, I'm sure Bolliger & Mabillard is sticking with the Pretzel Loop for continuity's sake.
  12. Thanks Robb! This is looking nice, but I hope that drop isn't going to get rough at the bottom like MegaZeph's did. These two drops look the same. I mean, it doesn't have Gerstlauer trains so I'm sure it'll be FAR much better than anything MZ could be. But thanks!
  13. Sorry to revive a dead thread, but does anybody have any construction updates with Fireball? They must have made significant progress since this time last month... Kthanksbye! Alex
  14. I just found this thread today and it took me more than an hour to sift through the whole construction process (the burned slide!) and I can't find any words to describe my attitude towards this. Maybe "wow", but that seems a little to generic. This is what waterparks should be like. Lincow, thank you SO much for all of the updates with construction and operations! Quick question, do you know anything about the two proposed coasters that are supposed to be built in a few years? I wouldn't be surprised if that gets pushed back a year or two. Thank you! Alex
  15. So basically, SharkTums means that Gravity Group is the equivalent of Woodie Purgatory.
  16. Robb Alvey, I utterly and officially love you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
  17. Thanks for the pictures Robb! I remember going to USH last November for Thanksgiving with my family, and the weather was VERY nice compared to New Orleans. I wish we had something like his down here. USH, not the Christmas event. Pipe dream. But thanks!
  18. Thanks guys! I know everyone appreciates it :] There's one curve on the return run that looks MIGHTY fierce. Does anybody else think this thing is going to whip you around a bit?
  19. Blue Bayou/Dixie Landin' of Baton Rouge, LA is expanding. They're adding a whole new area, including a new coaster. Rumor has it that Jester or MegaZeph from SFNO are contenders for the new addition. When SFI was ripping the drop towers out of the park a month or so ago, a SFNOforum-goer noticed that a small part of Zephy's track was missing. Not ripped out, but possibly carefully removed. Why? It's not like either coaster is worth a buttload of cash. They've been sitting in the same spot for three years straight. Without upkeep. It'd be expensive to rehab, but cheap to purchase and transport since both coasters are from SFNO, which is defunct. There's a little more than 80 miles between the two cities. It'd be cool......Zephy seems to big. And they already have a Vekoma.
  20. - Saw the ultimate death (and near rebirth) of SFNO. - Rode my first Arrow: Loch Ness Monster - Got my first non-B:TR invert...Aplengeist! - Apollo's Chariot. - Arrow suspended: Big Bad Wolf - Went to Waterville USA (Gulf Shores, Alabama) to ride my first woodie/CCI ever: Cannonball Run. It still runs great for being 13 years old. - City Park's Carousel Gardens is building new rides =] - Witnessed three EPIC, though predictable, failures in the amusement industry: HRP, Cypress, and Celebration City. Decent year. My most eventful since 2004.
  21. Technically, not all of the coasters at SFNO are dead, per se. Jester wasn't reported with any major damage. So maybe DL bought it for cheap off of SFI and they're willing to pay for the replacement electrics? Two Vekoma loopers in one park. Hello, Advil. Still! Let's hope it's a long-desired woodie! Cross your fingers!
  22. It's cool living in New Orleans, because everybody down here is too down to earth to let things as unimportant as sexual orientation get in the way of things. I mean, we have really conservative people who think otherwise, but for the most part people don't really care. I'm 16 (came out at 14), gay, and go to an arts high school. Surprisingly, I'm one of two gay guys I know about. But nobody cares, I have tons of straight friends. It's really nice to have the luxury of going to a straight friend and asking them for help. And they'll give me a hug or ruffle my hair or give me advice or anything. It's just really amazing how people can act. C_W Shockwave, hang in there kid. I'm still dealing with homophobs at my school who have known me for three years (and going). They're adjusting. They realize I'm not a threat :] Goodnight, foos!
  23. Hopefully they'll be able to build a new park (hah, not with this economy) somewhere in a better location. Goodbye, SFNO. Goodbye, awesome-though-slightly-painful CCI woodie. Goodbye, only Vekoma Hurricane in America. Goodbye, tourism revenue. Hello, Disney-knock-off sports center!
