Six Flags New Orleans. Gerstlauer trains on CCI coasters. The loss of CCI and a large chunk of their coasters. Six Flags whoring out with advertising campaigns. I feel like train skins ruined part of the park experience. SFI's lack of theming on certain installations, as well as their rushed installations. Vekoma's Giant Inverted Boomerang. Losing Astroworld, though I never visited and have no opinion on the park.

You guys, you guys, you guys. You have it all wrong. All wrong. Cedar Fair is taking a nod from Six Flags' past and starting a Ride Rotation program. I305 and Son of Beast are switching parks, and the other Intimidator is swapping with Diamondback. Sheesh. Noobs. -
Bawl o lawl, that was the best one-liner I've read in a while.

PTR: Waterville USA, Gulf Shores AL
The Alex replied to coasterer's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Word. I've been riding Cannonball Run since it opened, as my family's ritual was spending a summer at Gulf Shores for a week. Here's the history of the train colors, as I remember it. 1. Fire engine red with flames and cannonballs scrawling down the sides of the train. 2. Super sassy PINK. 3. Two summers ago, she ran a Midnight Blue train. 4. This one. Fire engine red. I have a picture somewhere of its first year. The track hadn't been painted white with blue accents yet, and it ran very well as I remember. That turnaround is a little shuffly, but nothing terrible I guess.. -
SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread

One day many months ago Councilman Arnie Fielkow came to the coffee house I barista at. I took a second to go clean the condiment bar after making some drinks and introduced myself. Eventually, I brought up SFNO and what he thought about Mr. Rogers (since Fielkow is one of the politicians that would be giving this project a GO) and he kind of laughed and shook his head and said something along the lines of, "He's serious about what he wants to do, he just can't get things together in the funding department." Now I believe that sir Rogers is kind of screwy. Yes. From what I remember (I read about the history of the park once or twice) the whole thing was done as a political move to bring people into the city and get one of the people higher on the food chain--I think he built it back then?--some more dough for he and his family. It tanked, switched to PARC Management, tanked, got bought out by SFI, and was then pulverized by the worst natural disaster our country has ever dealt with. That said, the area still hasn't come back. This gives even less reason to rebuild. Because if the park kept tanking with a full population around it, WHY WOULD IT SURVIVE WHEN NOBODY LIVES THERE ANYMORE? -

This needs to stop. I agree with stingrock23. The NO East area is beyond unstable. Sure, it's *somewhat* back. But in no way to support a theme park or resort complex. And the park sitting there idly whilst waiting for the support to be built is a total waste. If there's a park in NOLA, it would work best on Pontchartrain (maybe) or on the Westbank of the city somewhere. Otherwise, move anything salvageable over to BB/DL. They could use some spare Vekoma parts anytime of the year. And PS, I caught wind from I can't remember who that Walmart has been communicating with NOEast representatives about building a store there. Could be good, ultimately bad. Ehhhhhhhh, c'est la vie. -

There's no security for the SFNO site. Not one bit. I have friends who drove right into the parking lot and walked right in to the park. They even made a whole Facebook photo album about it. Needless to say, nobody was there to notice. Except, of course, Bugs Bunny and SongeBob. -
WHO DAT Bless you, Boys. VIVA LA NOUVELLE ORLEANS, TPR. VIVA NOLA.

Aaaaaand the New Orleans SAINTS are going to the Superbowl. Can I get a WHO DAT, TPR? You don't realize this, but New Orleans will never be the same again.

It's the end of a decade as we know it....

- Favorite new coaster The B:TR clones manufactured by B&M. - Favorite new ride S&S Screamin' Swing? - Favorite new park Personally, Six Flags New Orleans. - Most memorable park moment Getting my little brother addicted to roller coasters at SFMM and SeaWorld Orlando. - Most memorable coaster moment Convincing my brother to ride Kraken (weeks after conquering SFMM's Ninja) and him instantly falling in love with the ride. - Best ERT session I've never experienced this. - Least favorite coaster Tie between Mean Streak and Son of Beast. Such a waste of trees on both accounts. - Least favorite ride Chance Chaos. - Least favorite park Cedar Point really aggravates me. - Most interesting ride you've seen introduced Gerstlauer Eurofighters. - Least interesting ride you've seen intoduced Accelerators. A la Kindga Ka, TTD, and Stealth @ Thorpe. - Your favorite TPR moment (favorite post, trip report, video, whatever!) Being around for LSHoF. - The decade's biggest flop Danny Rogers from Southern Star Amusements. Either that, or Hard Rock Park. ...tie. Disney's California Adventure gets Honorable Mention. As well as Knott's. - The decade's biggest success Bolliger and Mabillard, although that seems to be coming to an end. - The best meal you've had at a park SFMM. Can't remember what. Just good food. - The worst meal you've had at a park I've never had a bad one. - Best park turnaround SFMM is wonderful. And DCA is promising...I hope. - Worst park turnaround Again, Freestyle Music Park. Knott's. - What was the biggest trend of this past decade? The battle of the record breakers. and "...theming? What?" -
I stumbled upon this interesting video of Lady Gaga on Youtube. Some person took her single "Just Dance" and removed all of the instrumental tracks, leaving just her voice. So it's a completely accapella version of the song. And it's strangely soothing and hypnotic to just hear her voice. Especially near the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nenyCft9CSs

My name is Alex, and I love the Title Fairy. Like, profusely.

^ At this rate, I'm sure the seat that Marcelo Torres died in has since been replaced, as well as that entire car. I saw photos from the crash site on the internet a year or so ago, and there's no way that exact car is in service. It had to be entirely rebuilt for that thing to roll the rails again. There's really no way around this issue. People die. And they die where they die, as said above. Folks fail to realize that you are, in fact, taking a risk by hoping on an amusement ride. No matter how flashy it is, the thing is still a machines. Machines break, no matter what we do to prevent it. The circle of life. So you can cower about what has (and possibly could) happen, or you can realize that the chance of you dying a theme park death is very, very minimal. You're more likely to die in a car crash or from food poisining. Back on topic, I agree that more posts should be added to the lines if this is a true issue. Rear-facing cameras/personnel should have been done already, in my opinion.

To the ever-pensive, all-knowing, and uber-titular Title Fairy with whom I sleep well at night: May I request of you a Custom Title? I trust in your judgment more than I trust my New Orleans government. Please make my subtitle one worthy of me logging in to this online, website establishment with pride. You may use in your literary arsenal such devices relating to: - Homosexuality - Lady Gaga - Rhinoceroses - Coffee - New Orleans - Or Antartica In the spirit of ChristmaHannaKwanzika, Alexander

So here's my shameless band plug for the day. The band is called EMPIRES, and they hail from Chicago. And what a band they are. Rock fans, prepare to do your thing. Though, in my opinion, the older acoustic demos are better.

^ No, he's still quite serious about convincing the world that this spot should be his. I don't even consider it a park anymore, it's just a spot. I mean, if the Saints can get this close to the Superbowl, maybe SFNO can reopen afterall. Who knows? -
Patriots got banged, 'nuff said. 11NO, just so you know :]

Nothing ever said it was gonna be themed to Hulk. I kind of doubt Universal has the rights to use the Marvel characters in that part of the world. It was just supposed to be a clone lay-out wise Getchya gotchya, good It's always amazing to have someone with information to dish. Thanks for all of the tidbits!

Mine's still Lady Gaga.
-
But The Hulk is not yellow. Paradox. Iron Man?

Don't forget, SFI isn't allowed to take anything from the Six Flags New Orleans park that was built before they got there. Anything pre-SFI belongs to the City of New Orleans. Not that it's stopped them before, but now that the lease is terminated I'd assume them removing rides wouldn't be that great of a plan.
