  1. This is stereotypical New Orleans politics. Idiot people trying to trick the idiot citizens of NOLA into believing their idiot plans. And they get away with it. William Jefferson (you know, the guy with $900,000 bribe money in his freezer?) got sentenced for 13 years of prison, with a minimum of 11 served. OHGOD, the consequence! He'll learn. SFNO should be paved. I hate to say this about the only major park in my area, but I don't care. This horse has been dead and beaten for too long now. Rip all of that bad investment out and let nature reclaim the land. Plant cypress trees, pick up the litter, and vamanos. Try to recycle the coasters (or at LEAST the metal involved) and be done with it. Honestly.
  2. - New Orleans' "Jazzland" (SFNO) park was built, bankrupt, bought out by Six Flags, flooded, ignored for three years, and then involved in possible scandals surrounding new possible owners all in a 9-year period. - Audio elements were added to rollercoasters, as well as fire and lighting effects unprecedented to anyone in the industry until this time (looking at X2 and Bizzaro). - The "our wooden coaster goes 90 DEGREES" boom. - GCI and their Millenium Flyers. - The failed (correct me if otherwise) Rollersoakers. - The lesson of "Don't Rush The Prototype" is learned the hard way by SFI when introducing Vekoma's Giant Inverted Boomerang (De'ja Vu) coasters. - The only monorail crash in Disney's history happened. Also, guys... ASTROWORLD CLOSES.
  3. I'm tired of single life, and I'm definitely tired of the horrible hookups that I've been put through. Settling down with someone for a few months is completely ideal. I've realized I have a dilemma when it comes to dating: The guys I like don't like me back since they're either straight or taken. The guys that like me only want to use me as a f*ck-and-run checkpoint.
  4. Thanks, everyone. It would rock, except for that he ended it four days after it started because he got scared. So he basically lied about liking me to not turn me down/hurt me, but I'm sure this is worse. Whatever, c'est la vie. Vintage, at least you can admit it to yourself. I came out when I was 14 and nobody's cared, but I've heard horror stories. Goodluck telling the 'rents when it happens!
  5. I'm gay, out since I was 14, and just started dating my first boyfriend last Thursday. This is definitely the happiest I've been in months.
  6. You can check out City Park if you have any time. The place is simply beautiful, no lie. There's also a small amusement park if you'd wish to do some credit whoring. Audobon Park is closer to the Quarter, and is also conveniently located nearby the Magazine St. shopping areas. Check out the 9th Ward. Recovery in progress is worth watching. Museums! Definitely take a ride or two on the St. Charles Avenue streetcars. It's the oldest streetcar line in the world, so that's a definite culture credit. I live here. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me sometime.
  7. Quick update. A few nights ago, random threads on the SFNO site forum would pop up. We're talking two-year old threads from the very beginning of the whole Southern Star saga. Why, you ask? All of the posts in these threads made by Danny Rogers have been edited so they contain no information Nothing to quote him by. Nothing to dig up. Anywhere. Nothing. This went on for a period of around two days, and now every post made by Rogers has been wiped. The SSA website has also been taken down for some sort of "redesigning" work. Sketchy? You bet your mother's pancakes. Some of the people have figured out how to retrieve some of the posts, via searching cached data files using search engines. So all of the terribly-penned posts and promises are there if you dig for it. Hmmmm........ Maybe the new "merge" (for lack of a 100% appropriate term) with Viacom's Nickelodeon has some catch where all of the memories of "Old Danny" have to be wiped to prepare for the "New Danny". Or not.
  8. From SFNO Batman: The Ride (Relocated to SFFT as Goliath) MegaZeph - SBNO The Jester - SBNO Zydeco Scream - SBNO Muskrat Scrambler - SBNO The Vekoma Rollerskater - SBNO From other places... Minor Mike at a Celebration Station that shut down. Old Space Mountain at WDW Big Bad Wolf
  9. After blindly following him once before, I'd be an idiot for not paying attention the second go-round. Yes, it sounds too nice. Yes, he just might be making it up. Yes, I know. Thanks for checking. Alex
  10. Danny has said before that Martin & Vleminckx, the crew behind the construction of the Boardwalk Bullet, has done inspections and has said they will be able to restore Zephy. Danny has also said that, if the coaster goes live, it will be running two Gravity Group Timberliners. I think SFI gutted the buildings sometime within a year or two ago. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. The remaining coasters (Vekoma Hurricane, Vekoma Boomerang, Vekoma Kiddie, and the wild mouse) are all repairable, and will be if the park opens. He said some of the flats are repairable, but I'd just buy new ones. I believe it was that they were supported by AMVEST, but then they backed out right before the economy tankage happened at full tilt. And so you know, I'm not 100% supporting this again Jeff. I meant that I'm surprised they've gotten this far along in trying. I still have major doubts about this project succeeding.
  11. Well, I'll be damned. This is farther than I thought it would go.
  12. If you could explain to me how uploading to TPR works, then I'll upload my stuff.
  13. Congrats to everyone for discovering KD would be getting a Giga Coaster 100 pages ago. @ Themeparkman25: That video is SO cool! I've never heard of a B&M bubble cart. Hell, I'm surprised the maintenance guy even bothered using the manufacturer's name in the video since he was probably the only one there who knew what he was talking about.
  14. - Batboy! - The Legally Blonde Musical - A Very Potter Musical (win!) - Starmites - The Who's Tommy - Jane Eyer I have a huge love/hate relationship with FAME and RENT. They're tolerable.
  15. I'm honestly ready for this fiasco to die. It'd be nice to have a park open in time for the 2013 Superbowl, but I have my doubts that we'll see that area of the city coming back any time soon. Though I'd really rather not have to drive to San Antonio, Dallas, or Atlanta for huge coaster fixes.
  16. This is a sad day in the enthusiast world. I agree with SeaWhippet. They could have Vekoma/Premier fabricate new track pieces that can handle the higher stress points and gotten new trains from Vekoma (open air!). Well, it's a done deal. So long, wolfie.
  17. You're... you're kidding, right? Right?? Doing this is, like they've said above, completely illogical and a waste of time and money. It's not going to happen. KD is getting the Intamin that is being delivered to the park. They won't be moving the track to another park. End of story. Who said anything about moving coasters or tracks. I just said don't be banking on a Giga until it is announced. How about we end this at "Carowinds and KD are both getting new roller coasters for the 2010 season, and it's gonna be TOTALLY AWESOME" ?
  18. Wow. Next up on the Disney Dodge-it List: An onslaught of Dumbo the Flying Elephants.
  19. Thanks for the clarification, sir. I should have been following this more closely. Here's $0.02: The rumored Carowinds hyper is said to be bringing the name "White Lightning" back to the park. If this is true, would red really be the color associated with lightning? Methinks the yellow track would be more appropriate. Whatever, just some thoughtless speculation.
  20. I vaguely remember the red mystery track being pinned as Dive Machine track, which doesn't seem like a Cedar Fair order...especially since they have intentions of selling Valleyfair anyway. VF might be on the list for a hyper.. but who knows?
