Retro Kings Island souvenir book 1979
larrygator replied to pianojohn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I saw the 1,600 acre comment I was stunned until I read on and realized in likely includes the campgroun, hotel and golf course. Thanks again John, I added this Souvenir Book (like all of the others you posted) to the Park Index. -

Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!

^If I remember correctly, Divv was one of the people (like myslef) who was attacked by the restraints. It's hard to believe you called a spinning coaster amazing. -
^and Thumper is a bunny! "Thumping" just sounds like a roller derbesque term. Much personalized thought went into my suggestion.

and I downed all 3 of those beers fairly quickly. I had seen those bacon chips that they gave us with the beers all over Scandinanvian parks but this was the first park I tried them out. Outstanding! Overall, I have hard time deciding between Liseberg and Grona Lund as to which one was my favorite park of the trip. Both are so awesome but with completely different ride/coaster packages. -

It's great that it will have a unique layout. However, I don't think it is fair to blame B&M for not building unique coasters. I'm sure they have a portfolio of ideas that they share with parks (but not the general public). If a park has the money and wants something unique, if B&M thinks it is feasible they will build it. Unique coasters will always have higher costs than an existing model and many parks will settle for a tested product. -

Affected! It's hard to say for certain to what extent the project will be affected. At the very least expect delays. Many of the financial lenders have over extended themselves and now need "bailout" loans from the oil men. Projects are likely to get further scrutinized and those that are not far along could lose funding unless their success is certain. The success of an amusement park in a desert is not a sure thing.. There are a lot of articles from reputable sources regarding Dubai's current financial states. I would read those before trusting anything you hear on TPR. Just my opinion!

Reading Danny Rogers quote about wanting to build on the site of a former park in New Orleans, he should not give up. rcdb lists 7 others parks that were formerly in New Orleans. If at first you don't succeed try again. -

So they can rename the coaster after Alan Kulwicki. Polish Power! -

Do you have a picture of facade of the Spook House/Dark Ride/Ghost Train that is hiding behind the carousel in one of your photos? -

^^WOW, that's an incredibly awesome photo. Thanks for the in-depth coverage. -
I think lot of people just find coasters free of multiple and redundant safety features to be more enjoyable. I certain do. I could care less whether it is called an "ACE Classic Coaster" or a "old school coaster free of multiple, rendundant and unnecessary safety features". However, I must admit that "ACE Classic Coaster" sounds better.

The craziest ERT (or if this case EFT) of the day was about 8 of us bum rushing the Mexican Buffet as soon as it opened and having only 20 minutes the stuff our faces and rush back to the bus on time as to not be left behind in the middle of Sweden. -

^damn I remember sliding all over the bench/seat, guess the seatbelts really didn't do much for me. I'm sure larger people fit into the seat (and belt) more snuggly. I guess the fact that the seats were relatively high in comparison to the sides of the car played a factor also. -
^I agree with you about dead ends but: Golden Kingdom conects to Boardwalk and Plaza del Carnaval. The entrance to Kingda Ka is at a dead on, possibly purposely done due to the nature of the launch and the length of the ride. However, the exit is not that far from the paths to the other areas. Plaza del Carnaval connects to the a few areas. Possibly when you were there the bridge behind El Toro was still being refurbed and not re-opened yet (in which case El Toro and Rolling Thunder were at a dead end). However, the whole Movietown area dead end is a mess until they re-open the passageway through the old German area that is now Rental Cabanas.

^No seat belts or restraints of any type. Those riding with their arms outstretched would then brace themselves with their hands in your back when the speed of the ride adjusted. -

^I added a 1/2 cup of sugar and a 1/2 cup of Hershey Dark Chocolate Syrup to the batter and it turned out awesome (tastes like a brownie now), except for the fact that it needed to stay in the oven longer now. It collapsed like a bad souffle in the movies when I removed it. It was a little undercooked, but yummy. My test tasters said it needed to cook a little longer, but they kept nibbling at it. I'm going to try again on Wednesday night by cooking it an extra 15 minutes and using a toothpick this time to test it before taking it out of the oven.
