  1. The actual ride vehicles being made out of snow/ice are more plausible than your "friend's" idea!
  2. ^and you're dead! Seriously, high quality Ahi Tuna not eaten raw/very rare is a waste of great food.
  3. You have to pay the PR people. It is likely that parks have made cutbacks in their PR departments and existing PR employees are overwhelmed.
  4. ^And I thought Ben was going to try to negotiate you down to $30.

    Cyprus

For questions like this it is always best to check the database on rcdb.com first. They are the definitive online roller coaster database. A quick search lists 3 coasters at two parks. Cyprus Coasters on rcdb.com I'm not sure if anyone on TPR has been to Cyprus, I know Robb and Elissa have not been there. Good Luck.
  6. RCDB also lists Expoland's Wild Mouse going to WalyGator in 2011
  7. Wow! I can't believe that you have known for months you were moving someplace and did not research typical weather ranges in the area. In the time it took you to write "any" of your 100 hundreds of comments on TPR about moving to Orlando you could have done some basic research. You would have realized very quickly that 30-40 degree temparatures in Orlando are not uncommon during mornings/evenings.
  8. Maybe it is due to the fact that there are not major capital ride installations at Six Flags in 2010. Or possibly the fact that the company is in fiscal turmoil and is focusing PR efforts in other major areas.
  9. Sometimes using an existing thread is better than creating a very similar superfluous one. Please use one of the threads you referenced to express your thoughts.
  10. ^You bring up a valid point. Even for the Americans who do travel a lot it is sometimes years between riding certain coasters. I went over 10 years between riding The Beast (and it deteriorated over those years) but I still ranked it very high until I rode it again. Now it has been 5 years since I rode Shivering Timbers and I still rank it very high based on my rides. However, many say it is not the same experience it used to be. I bet many are in the same situation. But still the Best Poll out there!
  11. Just use the Psychic Friends Network at 1-800-797-4477. Discriminating callers don't want to waste their time and money on phone actors and actresses, but instead want to establish a relationship with someone who can provide REAL ANSWERS for their important questions. All of our psychics undergo a rigid screening to identify those who really have the psychic gift, as well as to find those psychics who truly care for the well being of the clients, for whom they do their readings. www.psychicfriendsnetwork.net/ Thread Locked with Authority
  12. ^And then you have Dutch "Stroller"land and the Crayola "factory" in vicinity also.
  13. ^shhhh! Robb hasn't confirmed it yet. It will be groovy if he can pull it off.
  14. You would not paying to join a premium forum. You would be purchasing a benefit package. One aspect of the benefit package is a forum where specific info needs to be conveyed to these benefit package participants. Robb can not stop cliques from forming but he can and will limit the kinds of threads in this sub forum. Creating threads in the main forum to discuss events/opportunities that are not open to everyone can be both very boring and rude at the same time. As Robb has stated many times they are already multiple sub-forums on the site that revolve around trips. For example the Scandi Trip board from 2009's trip had threads about: coasters on the trip, dark rides, calculating how much spare cash to bring, help on finding a roommate, sightseeing trips, extra nights in the hotel, plane arrivals, passport info, get to know your fellow travelers, info on the overnight ferries. These threads are not important to people not on the Scandi Trip. Posting stuff like this in the main forum would make the threads less effective as there would be a lot of "I wish I was going" posts. Threads in the new "Club TPR Forum" would be similar, if R&E are scheduling a private trip to Edmonton for this group, this is where info would be posted. Why would the rest of TPR need to know what time to meet at the Edmonton airport? If there are additional benefits that Robb negotiates (i.e.: Discount to Bob's Funland), he is going to post that in the Main Forum for all to see as that might cinch someone's decision to join. Robb and Elissa are not trying to create a secret society with this new forum just a two way communication stream to disseminate information to the proper people and stay orderly. They are not going to be secret Trip Reports, Videos posted in this new forum. Robb: Apologies for repeating what you just said, I type slowly.

  16. ^About 10 people on the 2008 TPR Europe Trip took a side trip to ride the coaster at Parc St. Paul. I'm going to get my first taste of PAX this summer at Strasswalcen in Salzburg.
  17. Space Mountain at DLP - An embarrassment to the Disney name
  18. Even if that on-ride camera gave me a massage after the beating, I wouldn't let the camera affect my ranking.
  19. A little over 4 years ago I sent some guy and his wife, whom I didn't know, a check for $2,500 to take me around England to visit amusement parks. Robb and Elissa had never organized a trip for this many and my friends and family thought I was nuts, with me not knowing these people. I had the trip of a lifetime and learned as long as I trust them and follow some simple guidelines the Alveys would deliver. Robb knows not every perk will appeal to everyone. That's why he is trying to offer as many perks as possible. Quite simply I'm looking at it as $40 gets me $15 in TPR merch and the other $25 helps maintain the quality of the site and allows me to attend CoasterCelebration or CoasterMania, which I have not been able to attend in the past. If I get to meet up at a TPR trip (Bonus), if I get trip priority (Bonus), if I can save $5 on an admission fee here or there (Bonus). The thing I love about Robb and Elissa is that they are requesting feedback and responding. While the site is not a "democracy" our leaders do want to better everyone's park and website experiences. They realize that although they are experts on the industry, good ideas come from everyone. They btoh build upon successes and learn from mistakes to adapt accordingly. As a moderator on TPR, the other great thing about the thread is that we are hearing from a lot of lurkers and non-frequent posters. You all constitute the majority of this site's members and we value your opinions very much.
  20. I think Terminator was only at #22 because SFMM has a lot more well traveled enthusiasts visiting so Terminator's rank is not as skewed. I expect to see Terminator slide a little with the new coaster smell wearing off in 2011. By the way, how come wooden traditionalists have a problem with Intamin's Plug and Play technology but not Gravity Group or GCI's ability to do overbanked, particularly 90 degree turns? Riding GCIs and Gravity Group through overbanked turns certainly doesn't give you a traditional wooden ride either.
  21. I don't care how good a ride is at certain times during the day. My Top Ten coasters are all coasters that give incredible rides no matter what time of day I have ridden them. I have to rank coaster that is excellent all the time, ahead of a coaster that is good during the day and excellent only at night. Yes, Beast is very good at night. As a side note, that is my annual dilemma when ranking Boulder Dash. If enough people rank in the same manner that I do, that will hurt Beast's overall ranking.
  22. As was just mentioned Final results for the Wood portion of Mitch poll are in and can be found here: Mitch's Poll - 2009 Wood Results The Voyage is back at #1 for the third time in its four years. That ties the record set by Tonnerre de Zeus and later tied by Shivering Timbers for most years at #1 in the poll. El Toro proved to be stiff competition again this year, finishing in second place. The 181 foot tall New Jersey woodie has finished in the top three in each of its four years. The vote between the top two came down to the fact that 77 riders who had ridden them both preferred The Voyage and 67 preferred El Toro. After its debut #1 ranking in 2008, T Express fell to third this year while losing the mutual rider comparisons to The Voyage and El Toro 10 to 4 and 10 to 5 respectively. Boulder Dash was evidently running as well as ever in its 10th year as reflected by again placing in a relative best ever #4 finish. Ravine Flyer II followed up its 2008 debut at #9 by climbing even higher this year to #5 in the world. Worlds of Fun's new woodie 'Prowler' debuted very strongly at #6, just edging two time #1 Balder 6 to 4 among mutual riders. Phoenix finished eighth despite being old enough to qualify for Social Security. Happy Valley Song's 'Fireball', the first Chinese wooden coaster to ever be included in the poll impressed the ten well travelled voters who had ridden it enough to debut at #9 (with an asterisk due to so few riders voting). Aska won the mutual rider vote with Thunderhead 8 to 4 and rounds out the 2009 top 10. The other two new for 2009 rides also did well in the poll. Freizeitpark Plohn's 'El Toro' debuted at #20 and Six Flags Magic Mountain's 'Terminator Salvation' debuted at #22. Special thanks to the 730 people who took the time to participate in the 2009 poll (all 730 ballots) and more than two dozen great roller coaster sites that linked to the poll. Holiday World is again the park with the top wooden coaster duo (#1 The Voyage, #18 Raven), and trio (including #38 The Legend). At the other end of the poll, California's Grizzly made it 15 straight years at # 'LAST'. The Top 20 wood coasters are: 1 The Voyage Holiday World 2 El Toro SFGAd 3 T Express Everland 4 Boulder Dash Lake Compounce 5 Ravine Flyer IIWaldameer 6 Prowler Worlds of Fun 7 Balder Liseberg 8 Phoenix Knoebel's * Fireball Happy Valley 10 Aska (S) Nara Dreamland 11 Thunderhead Dollywood 12 Colossos Heide Park 13 Troy Toverland 14 Hades Mount Olympus 15 Tremors Silverwood 16 Evel Knievel Six Flags St Louis 17 Thunderbird PowerPark 18 Raven Holiday World 19 Rampage Alabama Adventure 20 El Toro Freizeitpark Plohn
  23. Looking at the results of Mitch's poll for 2009 Woodies I would nominate Coaster at Playland as most underrated. Of the 730 who completed a ballot, only 7 people rode it in 2009.
  24. Many larger Advertising Agencies are closed between Christmas and New Year's. My Agency is closed this week, but I'm on call if the client's send an urgent e-mail.
  25. I would just like to clarify a couple of things about the Premium Member forum. The forum would be just to discuss events that are exclusive to members, I think having this in a seperate forum will do more to prevent a schism between paid members and non-paid members. This will be similar to the trips boards that already exist for TPR Trips. Content in those forums is to help Trip Participants form a mini community (so everyone isn't a complete stranger before the trip starts) and also builds anticipation for the trip by providing details on what to expect. I envision that if this content was on the main board for everyone to see, this would create an elitist attitude and jealousy. Do people not going on a trip really need info about the trip posted ad nauseum and do they want to read a bunch of people posting about how excited they are for 9 months? Probably not. I trust from prior Trip Board experiences that Robb and Elissa will not let the Premium members become Elitist in their posting.
