  1. I didn't realize that this park had a TakeOff.. This park has a great selection of flat rides.
  2. They are getting the Windstorm from Old Town.
  3. NO! YES!
  4. At this point in time, I agree and have never rooted against them, even when they had overhyped QBs like Akili Smith and Joey Harrington. I'm sure some West Coast football fans feel differently though. However, a few years of sustained success (and the relationship to Nike) could change all that. I remember when Florida State was adored and admired by most fans outside of their biggest rivals.
  5. How? Do you remember how horribly run this park was from 1998 when you got your pass to about 2005? They added a ton of rides in 1999 as part of the "War on Lines" and they were ALWAYS, ALWAYS closed. Great Adventure was nothing but 2 good coasters, a ton of bad - mediocre coasters, and a TON of closed flat rides (and a few closed coasters). The rides that were open always had huge lines and there was no such thing as Fastlane so you were forced to wait in them while the park purposely avoided shade canopies so they could come by with those stupid popcorn buckets and icees to sell them to you for $4 a pop. On a typical visit to the park, Viper was closed, Chiller was probably closed because of some catastrophic failure (like the time it caught on fire) and in the first few years you had a pass it had over the shoulder restraints and was terrible anyway. Pretty much every flat ride with a few exceptions like the 3d theater and Twister were closed almost every day. They had Evolution sitting in the middle of the park as the largest lawn ornament ever... Season Pass processing was a 4 hour long process every year back by the (of course closed) Double Trouble ride... the place was awful back then... really awful and the only reason anyone put up with it was because of Medusa and Batman. Now they've removed the rides that were never open and you rarely see closed rides except the water rides when they're not scheduled to be open in the Spring or Fall or the Skyway or Parachutes when they have to close due to high winds (speaking of Skyway and Parachutes they NEVER used to be open between about 1999-2005... ever). Great Adventure used to have more closed rides than open rides and that's absolutely not an exaggeration. Even though the theming is basically non existent it's better now than it was then simply because of areas like Plaza De Carnival and Golden Kingdom. Plus since you got the pass they added a ton of amazing rides and attractions (as I mentioned before) including the tallest and fastest coaster in the world (when it opened), an 80 MPH hypercoaster and the #1 coaster in the world with El Toro. I guess you could argue that the park has gotten worse since about 2006 (you'd be wrong but you could argue it) but to say this park is a shell of what it used to be when you started going regularly in 1998 means you either forgot how much of a disaster this place was back then or you loved looking at 15 different versions of a scrambler that looked slightly different and having 14 of them be closed every visit (slight exaggeration but you get the point). This is so true and some people really don't remember how it used to be in the 10 years prior to El Toro, walking past all the closed rides every visit. The park has lost some flats since 1998, but that has been addressed in recent years. The only big decline I see is in the entertainment line-up through unused theaters and arenas, and the park does have a lot of them. 3D Theater, Showcase Theater, Movietown Arena, Lakefront Arena, Fort Independence, Golden Kingdom Stadium. Other points to add: Food prices have always been pricy and lines were always long, but at least there is variety now. People complain about cleanliness, it was a disaster during those years, I know many people who refused to use the bathrooms. Smoking in the queues was more prevalent. Line cutting was an epidemic back then, it is still an issue but nothing like the good old days. The price of a season pass has hardly increased over the past ten years.
  6. So FSU, Oregon and Alabama will all have new QBs next year, while OSU we have 3 starting QBs. Glad to see FSU go down, but not seeing how people can say Alabama was overrated. Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes just came in with a great game plan and executed to perfection for a majority of the game. I still would have preferred that the Rose Bowl stayed a Big 10/Pac 12 match-up with the two regional teams staying in the Southeast.
  7. The superlatives have and will always be part of marketing. It will always be there for amusement parks. I still remember billboards in Florida in the days of the Florida Hurricane promoting it as the fastest wooden roller coaster in the Southeast US.
  8. Most kiddie/family can easily have a Hello Kitty overlay applied. Operator Booth Tea Cups different Tea Cups at Universal Japan One of three existing Hello Kitty Angel coasters
  9. It's boring. I don't find it rough
  10. Hey Mark, just getting caught up on all your updates and submission for the Park Index (except for Cedar Point). Loved reliving my visits to Circus World through your brochures.
  11. Unfortunately, the options in the polls can not be updated. Ultimately we don't like poll threads on TPR because they tend to became skewed towards rides the most people have ridden even before the poll becomes dated.
  12. I believe it opened in June I thought I rode it in May, but I might have just blended visits together. Tsunami Soaker did open during the last week of May
  13. Of the Top 20, Formula Rossa is only one I have not ridden yet.
  14. And all the line cutters the ride attracted.
  15. I don't keep a count but it has to be El Toro as I generally get about 50-100 rides in per year. Five to ten visits per year with10 rides on El Toro each morning.
  16. The grand total of people who will choose to visit Carowinds instead of SFGadv in 2015 will less than 100. Not a good reason to invest $10-20 million dollars.
  17. The park has a lot to fix before they should even consider a new coaster. The park IS NOT lacking in large coasters.
  18. Why should it be renamed, many parks outside the US have a preponderance of flat rides.
  19. No problem, just finished the additions
  20. Casino Pier is adding a Drop Tower ride. I have to admit, I didn't realize that the 2013 fire destroyed any of the Casino Pier rides. http://www.ocsignal.com/2014/12/miniature-golf-course-to-be-built-in-seaside-heights/ Miniature Golf Course to be Built in Seaside Heights By Shore News Network - Dec 16, 2014 SEASIDE HEIGHTS-A new multilevel miniature golf course has been planned for construction in Seaside Heights on the Breakwater Beach property. The company unveiled the new attraction which will be on the eastern edge of the property, facing the Casino Arcade on the eastern side and a new wave pool on the western side. A reconfigured go-kart track will wind underneath a portion of the miniature golf course and under two new proposed water slides for space saving efficiency, according to recently released artists renderings. The park also announced a new ride called the Shore-Shot, similar to the Tower of Terror which was lost in the 2013 Seaside Park boardwalk fire.
  21. There are closing it because the customers don't want to ride it anymore.
  22. Interesting, can't wait to hear the future plans
  23. If you are going to Gillians Wonderland it might be worth your time to take a 15 minutes walk along the boardwalk to Playland's Castaway Cove. Only three non-great coasters but a few really intense flats. And there are good eats along the boardwalk. The Haunted House at Rehoboth Beach is worth the side trip, but as stated earlier it doesn't open until 6:30 PM.
  24. ^^I was not that guy! I did spend 4 hours at the Columbus Zoo this summer and really enjoyed the place.
