Oh. I thought you meant the vertical height of the Power Surge, and not the motor on the ride. For all the Power Surges I have ridden, they must be hydraulic. When they lock though, they click twice. Does Knoebel's make any noise when they lock? What would be the reason for moving the motor? Is it harder to turn horizontally? That's what I'm thinking, but I don't know.
-
Knoebel's looks like the same height to me at other one. What other ride does the seats hydraulically so I can understand what that means? Inverter, Chaos, Max Air, KMG Fireball, Tivoli Spin Out, Intamin Space Shuttle, and so on. All I know of seats is that there are rides like roller coasters where you pull them down to your size, and than there are rides like Power Surge where the seats all come down, and stop to however big you are. I don't know which one is hydraulically, and which one isn't. With the Power Surge though is that, it double clicks for the rides I have ridden when it's ready to lock. If it's not in the right position, I'm thinking that it might move a little bit as what happened.

Backwards on Musik Expresses...
VivaLaVibora replied to swampfox's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One time, at SFA they did it backwards, and the other time they did it forwards. They didn't do it in the same cycle. The Himilayas / Musik Expresses, and Flying Bobs have a bigger capacities so it doesn't really matter if they run it both ways. They just don't want to. The Wisdom Himilaya has a capacity of 44 with all cars being filled, but the carnival Himilaya might be smaller than your typical amusement park Himilaya. The Thunderbolt gets 36 adults, or 54 children. These aren't that low of capacity rides. -
When they check them on the ground, they will all click at one time. If you don't push them in more, they will probably do what happened to you. I have been on 3 of them a lot of times, and it never happened when it popped in the air. The three were at Cypress Gardens, All Star aka (NAME Amusements), and Belle City Amusements at the Ohio State Fair. I just don't ride them one time. I rack up a lot of time on them except for the Ohio State Fair one a lot because there were a lot more rides there. I think the Power Surge is awesome, and is a little better than the Shocker. The Shocker has 3 arms, and 4 seats back to back on each arm while the Power Surge has 6 arms, and 2 seats back to back.

SFGAM Opening Day Photo TR

^I wonder if the ride will open on May 21st. How long does just testing the thing take from someone that knows about new coasters? Once, they are finishing putting up the track, that's all good and well, but what about them doing how many hours of testing on that thing? X^2 is testing already (for a little bit now), and it's going to open May 24th. TDK still has track to go. -
I've just ridden my FIRST INVERSION!
VivaLaVibora replied to Edward's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My first inversion was on the Demon. As for inversions, I like a lot of inversions except the Immelmann. That to me, is boring. My favorite inversion/s is most definitely the cobra roll followed by the loop. -
SFGAM Opening Day Photo TR

Great Pictures. Those signs, "This ride will not open today." usually translate into this ride is really broke (This would not be a short time broke.), or this ride will not open for awhile in the season. Thus, the train got one. It's supposed to open Memorial Day weekend. I have heard a lot of people complain that it was the worst opening day yet. It was just the wind that was so bad that closed down rides. I didn't really care to tell you the truth. There were enough rides open to be enjoyable including Batman, Demon, Whizzer, and V2. I got on Ricochet (Huss Swing Around), and the Hometown Fun Machine (Scrambler) earlier before they closed. I would have liked to go more on the Swing Around, but oh well. On opening day I have seen Superman, Iron Wolf, and I have heard from a cousin that American Eagle all got stuck on the lifthills for a little bit. -

The last ride of your life.

It would be the: Tivoli Orbitor that tilts where the seats are almost 90 degrees. Other rides are Zipper and Deja Vu. -
Batman had music playing on saturday when i was there. That music is so loud. That's awesome. I haven't been there in awhile because it's not my homepark, but it's an awesome park. I have a question. What's the procedure for SFMM's Deja Vu? At SFGAm, they would check the seatbelts first, and than go around again, and they would check the harnesses. They would do them separately. I thought I might have heard that SFMM's does both at the same time. I haven't been on your Deja Vu because it was down for maintenance like refurbing the train. Supposedly, Mean Streak is getting new retractable seatbelts, and if they put them on Deja Vu, I think it would be easier for people to find them. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/index.cfm At SFGAm's Deja Vu when no one was in the row, they would wrap the seatbelt around the harness, and that would take a lot of time along with people just not finding the seatbelts. I think it would speed up the the line for Deja Vu a little bit if they used this, but it would cost some money. It's a suggestion.

I don't think Six Flags is expecting customers to buy the Flash Pass solely for the front row. It seems to be just an added incentive. Any word on if they are even advertising "Ride in the front on Goliath with the Flash Pass!" or if it's just from word of mouth. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I think it's going to be both ideas. Usually the front line row is the longest line for roller coasters. Maybe, they feel that for the people that ride front row usually can't now, and thus they have to buy the flash pass to ride front. Technically, they say that you can ride in the front row as long as their are no people. How many time are there going to be no people for a new ride, and now front row seating? Who knows? I don't really care either way because I don't care for the front row. It's because I don't care for all that wind in your face. However, I do want to ride front row for Invertigo to see it works on the towers. Other than that, forget it for me.

Why pay extra money to get a flash pass for other parks? He said he wanted to go one each day. He didn't say that he wanted to go one for the afternoon, and get out of there. Who cares if the coasters are an hour a piece? Oh, wow you have still have how many rides besides coasters? That park is an animal, and show centric park. It's not a ride park. Show venues fill a lot of people. It would be dumb to go to any of those other parks on Saturday. Why waste even more money?
-
__________________________ SeaWorld should be done on Saturday. The real reason is because they don't have that many rides so it doesn't matter if you go there on a Saturday. __________________________ The thing is this. I don't know what you are into. Are you into going to parks going on everything? Are you going to parks for a lot of rerides like on roller coasters? For Universal Studios, would you reride Mummy, but not reride ET, Jaws, or Men in Black? However at Busch Gardens, you would love to reride Sheikra, Kumba, Montu, Gwazi (I don't know why you want to reride it.), and Scorpion. ____________________________ On Sunday, you should go to Universal Islands of Adventure. Why? They have Dueling Dragons (2 different coasters), Spiderman, Incredible Hulk, and Jurassic Park River Adventure as main attractions. The other rides are Dr. Seuss area with a dark ride, 2 water rides (One is raft ride Popeye, and the other is Duddley Do Right log flume.), Storm teacups, and Dr. Doom S&S tower. Than, they have this stupid show where you walk in a building, and you see water go over your heads. I would pass that. That was stupid to me. Even with rerides, this park doesn't have a lot of rides in it that are main attractions. They also have 2 kids coasters. One is a Jurassic Park one where you supposedly can only get on without a kid when the park first opens. Pterdony (sp) Flyers it's called, and the Flying Unicorn which might not be open do to Harry Potter. _________________________ Now, you have a total reride thing. Do you really want to ride roller coasters a lot, or not? That's what it depends on. If you don't want to reride roller coasters a lot go to Busch Gardens Tampa on Monday. If you want to reride them more, than I say go Busch Gardens Tuesday. I don't really care for Universal Studios. They have Jaws boat ride, Men in Black shooter, Jimmy Neutron motion simulatior, Twister stand there and look at things, Shrek motion simulator like, Earthquake go on a train and look a things, Mummy roller coaster (sometimes you look at things on a roller coaster), and on E.T you have the story by going on a bike, and look at the cops that are going to shoot you down. For Unversal Studios, for me it doesn't have a lot of things to reride. The Simpsons won't be open until the end of May I think. ________________________ For Tuesday for rerides more than Monday, I would go to Busch Gardens Tampa. They have Sheikra diving coaster, Gwazi wooden 2 coaster, Montu inverted coaster, Cheetah Chase Mack mouse coaster, along with an Intamin Space Shuttle looping flat ride that's not a Space Shuttle. They also have a Tivoli Orbiter that's slower, a really slow and boring bumper cars, a cable ride in the air if it's open, Kumba sitdown coaster, a Moser Spring ride that goes up and down (It's fun. Go on it!), Rhino Rally (You look at animals during a jungle trek ride. It's a smaller version of Kilmajaro Safari's at Animal Kingdom. ), animals are all over the place in exhibits, a train ride, and a Shrawtkopf 1 loop coaster. They also have a 3D show where you get wet, and tons of other live shows in this park.

Ah, not at SFGAm. What happens is that they unlease the brakes in the loop, and it rocks back and forth frequently applying the brakes. It gets closer to the second tower. They might winch the ride, but the people don't have to come off at SFGAm. I don't really believe that the catchcar just doesn't want to latch on to the train. I believe that the train doesn't come at the right spot because of the speed, and it doesn't want to latch on because there is no place to latch onto. If the catchcars are timed to move at a certain time, than the train will have different speeds of when it gets to the towers. For example, let's say the train goes at 63 mph, and the next time it goes at 66 mph. It's a 3 mph jump. The catchcar does it's job on 66 mph, but on 63 mph, it goes up and the train is there, but the catchcar is to far up the tower to catch the train. Sometimes, the catchcar just doesn't move at all, and you have a miscatch. That was happening at SFOG. It just didn't want to move on tower 1 to pick the train up. I think that Invertigo's doesn't have the problem like the GIB's do. I don't hear anyone saying that Invertigo's are always broke like Deja Vu. There are two differences I have found. I haven't ridden an Invertigo. I've only been looking at videos. The first one are the towers. It's a smaller size than Deja Vu. It should have less speed than Deja Vu which should help catching the train better. The other one I think Invertigo has which should make such a big difference is that I think it has brakes on the towers. You go why would they make a difference. It stops it in place so the catchcar can latch on in the right place. I think it would be hard to put brakes on Deja Vu because it's a 90 degree tower. I think LIM's would be a great option, but than you have to put metal on the train so they can work. Than, I think the catching would mostly be solved. However, there are other problems like a power problem. They make some of these rides so weak with power. It's too hot of a day, and how many times is it going to break down today because of it? Invertigo feels like less weight compared to Deja Vu because of the 90 degree tower. Of course, they have the wheels to help a little bit, but it takes a lot of energy to hoist that thing 90 degrees in the air compared to Batman the Ride. I just don't think that the Invertigo will have the same experience as Deja Vu. I can't wait to ride it this year, but I just don't see it. For regular boomerangs, look how that works. On the first tower, you have a catchcar, and on the second tower, you have brakes, and a chain lifthill. When you are almost done with the ride, the brakes are applied in the station, and you go back and forth until it stops. Than, the catchcar comes down the first tower, and it reattaches to the train for the next ride. It's a very smart design, and it shouldn't break down that much compared to Deja Vu. Too bad, it's not as great in my opinion as Deja Vu. As to my knowlege, SFGAm's Deja Vu always had the platform for the cobra roll. However, they didn't have a platform for between the loop, and the cobra roll. I was there the night that people were evacuated from the ride by a fire truck because it would just go back and forth. This was the other side of the loop. It wasn't a big deal for those people. It's just that they had no way to get off the ride. I wasn't on the ride, but they kicked us out of the park earlier than closing time because they were worried about those people. It's in May on this page. http://www.rideaccidents.com/2002.html

The Eagle always gets a lot of work done to it. "Looks like things are finally starting to progress at the park." I don't think that's progress taking things out, and replacing them with no other rides. I kind of think you mean that they are finally taking out the rides they said they would instead of it's better Splash Water Falls, Deja Vu, and Space Shuttle America are either removed, or just standing there doing absolutely nothing. It's just you gotta move on, and we have what we have. However, I think that two rides across from each other gone might make people feel a little jipped that they didn't replace them with anything. These are big chunk rides. I doubt they will care about Space Shuttle America. Yes, they got Dark Knight, but they are replacing yet another thing which was a theater. There won't be a lot of entertainment this year compared to last year. They added concerts, but they are only so often, and replacing Operational Spygirl. They are adding the two video shows, but than that means that there will be less other live shows performances per day at that same theater. I have no idea what's happening with the Pictorium. Last year, they liked to have these little shows in which like 25 people watch. You would think that it's more important to show a show in which thousands of people watch instead of 25 whole people. They know it's cheaper to do something that, and they think it's important. I think those are wasteful spending. They have a show like Manny B and the Rhytmics, and hardly anyone is watching them. What's the point of having them? I don't think they sound that bad, but if no one is watching them for however long it is, why spend that money to have them? I really think they are going to be sorry for getting rid of a theater. Our park had 3 indoor theaters, and I think the one they should have gotten rid of is the Pictorium. You can only show movies in that theater. In the other two, you could show movies, or have live people. I thought the show that was in the Theater Royale was a bad show. It's was a Bugs Bunny show. I used to like Bugs Bunny shows before, but than they became so lame. I forgot about them putting in the Wiggle's Show in Wiggle's World. That's over a canopy. They probably figured that we mostly put Bugs Bunny in that show, and thus why do we need it? We have Wiggle's World in county fair. I think it's about the air-conditioning, and the more seats in Theater Royale. In my opinion, I think indoor shows are better because you are in air-conditioning when it's 95 degrees outside, but you still want to see something good nether the less.

I want to know why in the heck are they charging so little to get in the park if you go to the website before Memorial Day. You might say, well it's less crowded. Thus, I think it's the advertising, and maybe it's because the new ride is usually never open on time. They blame the weather. It's always the weather. Than, start earlier constructing the ride. They don't advertise enough at my park when the park is about to open.

A V:TR of I-X indoor amusement park
VivaLaVibora replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for sharing. It looked okay for a carnival indoors. I have ridden the G-Force, and I really do like it. I also like the Freak Out, but that's about it. The Yo-Yo probably doesn't tilt, and that stinks. I kind of think there are too many coasters for something that small. There are 3. All 3 of them were at the Ohio State Fair, and that's a real big fair. When you have limited space, I just don't understand why they put 3 there, but oh well. Maybe, if I thought all of them were great, or they had more other great rides than I would say keep all 3 roller coasters. If they had a Power Surge, Spin Out, nice tilting Orbiter, and a Thunderbolt instead of other rides like the Ring of Fire, Starship, and Yo-Yo that probably doesn't tilt, I guess I would say to keep all the roller coasters. -
Think about this. What's the real difference between something that inverts, and something that doesn't? One coaster train is above, and one is below the track. Are you afraid that your shoes will fall off? Just tie them better. Don't be scared of something like that. The two gigantic hill rides are Ninja, and Superman. I believe they put Tatsu on that gigantic hill also. I'm not sure where the entrance is for that ride because it wasn't open. This hill is what I call real exercising. I think Superman that Superman is slow, but that's because I'm used to 65 mph hour ride. I would say to do all three at the same time so you don't have to go up and down the hill. There is a backside of the hill though, if I remember right. The rides I feel are the most intense are X (not open), Deja Vu (Try to get on an outside seats because I think it makes it a great ride.), Riddler's Revenge, Goliath, and I would guess Tatsu. I have never been on Tatsu, so I don't know, but I'm basing it on on how Superman Ultimate Flight is. The rides I feel are the roughest are Viper, people say Revolution (I haven't been on this ride. It wasn't open when I was there.), and Colossus. I think that Colossus being rough has more to do with your behind than the side to side motion. I would say that Scream!, Ninja, and Batman the Ride are more like medium intensity. Gold Rusher is less than medium intensity.

The best Waterparks in the world
VivaLaVibora replied to sam06pr's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't understand why they include a closed down waterpark. They say these waterparks are great, and you can't go to this one. I don't think they show enough pictures of the places. For the Six Flags waterpark, all they have is a video of a wavepool. That doesn't get me to want to go to that park. I really want to know what they have, but it's just not enough information. I go to the website, and they don't have many pictures. I'm a visual person, and words don't do rides justice. -
Six Flags First Quarter Revenue up 35%
VivaLaVibora replied to Evan1127's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^Have flash passes, and food prices gone up from last year? At SFOT, I saw horror stories of people waiting 5 hours for Titan. Why wouldn't want to buy a flash pass? When people say prices, they don't just mean admission. Admission prices haven't gone up as far as I know, but what about everything else? At SFMM, what was the flash pass last year, and what is it this year? For parking, they are going up for SFGAm. Now, they want you to pay $25.00 for the whole entire front lot. In the back lot, they make you pay $15.00. Last year, they only had the first part of the front lot be $25.00, and the rest of the front lot was $15.00. The parking pass has gone up $5.00. -
Six Flags First Quarter Revenue up 35%
VivaLaVibora replied to Evan1127's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can imagine the reason for the increase being is the fact that parks are getting new roller coasters this year, parking has increased in price, the 4 million dollar sponsorships added, and maybe food has been raised as always. People might be buying season passes now because they know that SFOT, and SFFT are getting new rides. SFDK is also open, and they are getting Tony Hawk also. SFMM is just a retheme to a new ride. So, to me it makes sense why revenue is up from the year before in my opinion. These parks are getting more new rides from last year as in thrills, and people want to buy a season pass right now so they can go for the rest of the season. SFOT, and SFDK didn't add anything thrilling last year. The spring breakers are usually the people that want thrill rides. Don't forget about weather. That's a huge factor. Last year, Shapiro was complaining about Texas have so much rain that attendance went down drastically. Maybe, the weather is better this year. It's many factors. I don't think it's just because of one reason. Heck, that advertising on yahoo for the real cheap season pass could have raised attendance. The season pass was like $40 for that one day. People got that, and came to the parks. Maybe, they needed to buy a parking pass which is around $45-$65 because they will be going to the park so much. At my park, they say that a pizza, and a drink costs like $10.00. If people are buying that 2 times a day, guess what happens? That's $20.00 just for food. That could have went up, but I don't know. Lockers are revenue, and than you have some parks I don't think had flash pass, and now they do. For instance, SFDK didn't have flash pass, but now it does. Heck, maybe every park has a Flash pass even though they didn't before. I'm not going to check, but even SFKK has one, and I don't think they did before. It's only $10. Flash pass prices could have went up. How much revenue are they getting from the commercials on the tv? They didn't have those last year. Admission prices were dirt cheap during this time. It is still $29.99 to go SFOT on the Internet. Talk about under-pricing. That's a great point about expenses being down. This is the company that is removing rides left, and right. At my park, they are going to open one section of the park an hour later even. SFNE and SFMM dumped a lot of rides. SFOT won't open Casa Magnetica, and the bumper cars anymore. Great Adventure also knocked out 5 rides. I thought revenue though just has to do with the money you are earning, and not operating expenses???
