Best Coaster at SFOG
VivaLaVibora replied to ttowncoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even with riding Goliath: 1) Batman the Ride 2) Georgia Cyclone 3) Great American Scream Machine I would say 4 is Goliath, and than 5) Mind Bender. -
Best Theme Park Chain
VivaLaVibora replied to vertgforces's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I chose Six Flags because they have a lot of great coasters in my opinion, they let you reride them unlike Cedar Fair, and there are just some great parks in that chain. For Cedar Fair, really only Dorney Park, Kings Island, and Cedar Point in my opinion are parks that make me want to go there. For Six Flags, you have Over Texas, Magic Mountain, Great Adventure (even though I've never been to), Great America, and St. Louis. Six Flags America has great rides, but the park isn't run very well. Disney, Universal, and Busch just don't have enough great rides for me to enjoy. -
Iron Wolf, Demon, or the Whizzer. Iron Wolf is the least popular, and than Demon. Whether a ride like Demon is for families or not, you could always get another family ride to replace that. If it doesn't get the lines, it doesn't get the lines. Sure, all rides eventually get the lines on the most packed days, but we are talking about the whole season, and not just during the the park is jammed, and Demon has a 15 minutes line. It's way too early to talk 2010, and 2011. Those water coasters are something else at least the one I've been on. You get airtime on those things as if it were a hyper coaster, but you are in water. Who's know though that it would even be a water coaster? It could be the Noah's Ark Stingray type of ride instead as they put some of those in 2008.

Fairground Hoorn + Wervershoof
VivaLaVibora replied to hansrubens's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
It doesn't look too bad for a fair, or carnival. The flying things is in Florida and in Michigan a smaller one, KMG Afterburners are all over America, a Polyp is in IL, a breakdance was at the Ohio State Fair, and at some amusement parks, and there is a Magnum ("upside down Breakdance ride") at the Florida State Fair. I would go if those rides were at my town though. However, I think over there, the prices are supposed to be really high, and they must not have POP. -
Millenium Force and Mantis
VivaLaVibora replied to MASH80554077's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I stopped greying out on Mantis last time I went this year even though I greyed out before. I want to know what year they put the trim brake before the loop, because I don't think it was there in 2006, but I'm not sure. I agree with the person that started this topic which is not the norm. I don't care for MF, and really like Mantis. However, I don't think MF was painful. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
VivaLaVibora replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Demon - Six Flags Great America -
Maverick - I didn't really care about riding this ride though. I wanted to ride something instead. It didn't impress before, and after I've ridden it. It's just a good ride, and nothing great in my opinion. Expedition Everest - Was going to that park anyway. It's not like I made a special trip for it. The Boss - I think I went the first year, but I'm not sure. ??? Goliath @ SFOG - I really thought it wasn't going to be good, and it was a great ride. Again, I did not go to that park because of that ride, but because of other rides. None of these rides I was hyped up for to ride.

Good Coaster, Bad Park
VivaLaVibora replied to coasterstud522's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll take the loopholes. SFKK: It's not worth it to me even though they have the great Chang, a mouse coaster, and the rapids ride. Animal Kingdom: It's doesn't have any coasters that I care for, but just really Dinosaur, and like 2 other okay rides that I may want to go on, or not. Hollywood Studios: Again, no coasters I care for but Tower of Terror, and some okay shows. Other than those, maybe I try to avoid the parks that might have one great coaster, but the rest of the park stinks. I say forget Darien Lake, Elitch Gardens, and Big Bend because I'm going to be disappointed, and it's not going to be worth the money to me. -
Waterparks, anyone?
VivaLaVibora replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I personally like them even though I don't think it's good for a business stand-point. People like to say that waterparks are really packed, but are they really? How many people can they get compared to a roller coaster, or a flat ride? Or how about even a theater? Water rides are really low capacity when you are talking about the slides. The wavepool has a high capacity, but yet how much electricity are you spending when you have these huge waves. It must cost a fortune to run that thing a lot. I like waterparks when they add them to the parks, but I don't think they help business that much for the money they are spending on them. I don't really care if a seat was wet or not. Big deal. -
Silverwood Discussion Thread
VivaLaVibora replied to Damien666's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yes, of course it has. It's not every month it has valleyed in the cobra roll, but it was maybe every 2 years at Great America, it would do that. I don't think they put a wooden ramp between the loop, and the cobra roll either. They trust the ride too much. -
Chance Rides Toboggan
VivaLaVibora replied to mikeandjoaquin's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I heard it needs a crane though to put it up as another truck. So, it's really 3 unless you have another ride that needs a crane, or somehow you can fit a crane on the Toboggan. -
I think the thing that makes it look like there isn't much in the skyline is the fact that you have Batman towards the front of the park, and you just see it's backside. Than, you just see Mr. Freeze, and a Ferris Wheel. However, in the past so years, now you should see Evil Kinevil, and I don't know if you can see Tony Hawk or not. You probably should see the drop tower. Sometimes, stuff is about appearance, and to me this park needed more attention upfront. Now, it has a little bit more than it did. I haven't been to this park in awhile as you can tell because I've been going to SFOT instead. They have Mr. Freeze over there along with a mine train, and an out and back coaster. They also have Tony Hawk now, but I just really like SFOT better than SFStL even though I haven't been on the last two new coasters at SFStL. From coming from SFMM, you are entering a worser park going to SFGAm. I actually think of SFGAm as being better than SFMM, but it's only because of the waterpark that right now is at free with admission. Most coaster enthusiasts won't care to go to the waterpark, and thus I think that for you, SFMM would be better. Remember, that Dark Knight is a mouse coaster in the dark (but you can see the track, and other stuff) at Great America. It has a line, than a preshow, and more of a line even though the second line is much smaller than the first line. For Iron Wolf which is a headbanger in the corkscrew, you should move your head with the way the ride is going so you don't get KO. Tatsu is probably better than Superman Ultimate Flight. Vertical Velocity to me is much more powerful than SFMM's Superman. Goliath to me feels like another Raging Bull. Raging Bull might have a little more air, but to me it's not that much compared to Superman: Ride of Steel or the other Goliath (SFOG). The one thing I want to stress about Great America having that not a lot of other coaster parks have a lot are flats. They have some really good ones that you won't find at Magic Mountain, St. Louis, or Over Texas. They are rides like the Huss Condor, Huss Swing Around, Shrawtkopf Calpyso III, and the Huss Troika (Yeah, Over Texas, and some other parks have one, but Great America has a sweet light package on that ride. - red - green - yellow)

Getting stuck on a ride!
VivaLaVibora replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
V2 - A couple times just past the station, it stopped. Batman the Ride - In the brakerun, we would just wait there. Deja Vu - I got a retraction once, and misparking like 2 times. The brakeruns weren't just stacking either. Spin Out - It was up in the air, but not upside down. The guy put some long thing in (a fuse maybe), and it worked again. KMG Afterburner / Fireball - It went back and forth for a little bit before they stopped it. Revolution (Huss Frisbee) - It smelled like the tires were burning, and it just stopped. Superman Ultimate Flight - Also, in the brakerun. Iron Wolf - Also in the brakerun, just stayed there. Whizzer - Same thing along with American Eagle. They also stopped it on the lifthill. -
X has had the long line for awhile now. Part of it just has to do with the slow loading, and unloading procedures, plus broken trains. Who is to say that X2 is doing so much better than X was, and that the people say a 3 hour line is really worth it. The line is longer because the park is acting like it's a new ride, and people want to see what the heck they did to the ride. Thus, it's going to be long for the first year as every ride is long for the first year. It's the years after that we know how long they are going to be. Screamscape says that they aren't going to put in anymore Dark Knights because the other ones were failures. However, if you were to go on the Dark Knight this year, you might be waiting 1 hour to 2 hours. That's because it's broke down some of the times, and there are tons of people that have never ridden it before because it is the new ride. So, long lines in the first year doesn't really mean much to me because it's new to everyone.

Favorite Dark Ride
VivaLaVibora replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dark rides for the most part are average to me. Most of them, I don't consider great, but Dinosaur, and Indiana Jones I do at Disney. The reridable factor for Spiderman, Roger Rabbit, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, and so on aren't that good for me as in the same day compared to a ride I think is great like Dinosaur I have literally ridden that thing for a couple hours. Of course, you have to get back in line, watch the pre-show (or try to ignore it), and basically go around. -
Weird roller coasters.
VivaLaVibora replied to Rct3man777's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To me, it's #3 for roughest coaster I've been on. For me, number 1 is Beast. 2 is Texas Giant, 4 and 5 are the Ninjas (at SFOG and SFStL). I haven't ever done Manahatten Express, and probably never will. -
TR: Six Flags Texas Parks
VivaLaVibora replied to Bolliger&Mabillard's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFFT sounds pretty bad with the operations they have over there. How can that be the best park? You are disappointed by so many things, but that's the best Six Flags park? -
Favorite Arrow Coaster
VivaLaVibora replied to CdnbMatt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My favorite Arrow ride is none other than Gemini. My second favorite is X, 3rd is Demon, and 4th is the Runaway Mine Train at SFOT. The worst Arrow in my opinion is Magnum followed by Shockwave.
