I'm reading The Entity by Frank DeFilitta. It's based on a true story about an L.A woman that was supposedly repeatedly raped by a ghostly entity. It's pretty good. I'm sure the older people on here remember the movie back in the early 80s by the same name. The book is pretty good, it's managed to freak me out more than a few times so far.

cosmic hearse replied to dragsterfan420's topic in Random, Random, Random
Yeah my best friend votes republican because 'if its good enough for my parents its good enough for me'. He doesn't even watch or follow anything about politics just does what his parents tell him to do and he's 26 years old! -

The Jock and the Beauty Queen '08 And she's already facing a probe for possible abuse of power. Here's a quote from a Wall Street Journal article from July 31, 2008 "...One of the bright new stars in the Republican Party has suddenly become tarnished. The state legislature this week voted to hire an independent investigator to see whether Ms. Palin abused her office by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper." -

Knott's Haunt Announces 2008 Mazes
cosmic hearse replied to socalMAN123's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yay! I love Haunt but they really need to do away with Lost Vegas and stay clear of creating anymore joke mazes and the lazer tag maze. I remember the first few times I went the spread was pretty good. A few of those new mazes sound awesome though! -
Wow, I'm sorry for your loss. I've had 2 close friends pass away (both suicides) in the past 2 years and it was my first time as an adult experiencing a loss like that. The first one had me sad for almost half a year. Allow yourself as much time as you need to grieve, there's typically 5 stages that people will go through as they grieve: (denial/shock/numbness, bargaining {what you could have done better, etc}, depression, anger, and acceptance). Some people go through the steps out of order or don't take long to go through them. Talking does help out a lot. I don't know how hard it is for you to talk to your old friends back in Germany, but talk to other friends that were close to him as well, it'll help you out a lot. If that isn't really an option you can always go talk to someone at school. The beauty of college tuition is you can go talk to a therapist for free. Also check around campus for support groups that deal with loss. Keep an eye out if you notice yourself avoiding your feelings or overworking or preoccupying yourself to avoid dealing with it. Also watch out for using drugs or alcohol as a form of self-medication. All those can hinder your grieving process.

That's awesome! If you guys are offered VIP firework seats don't take them unless they're in front of the castle. The other VIP seats are at the Main Street Train Station and that's one of the worst places to view the show. You should see if there's any way you guys could eat at Club 33 or ride in the Lilly Belle train car.

Thunder Mountain in the back, Space Mountain in the front, Star Tours in the back row (you feel the hydraulics way more). If you are able to do the Magic Mornings make sure to do Nemo, and Peter Pans Flight. Pan never has a line shorter than 30 min from opening to closing. The fireworks are amazing!! We've tested out nearly every viewpoint and in front of the castle is the best! Not too close though, the best is in between the trash can and the benches at the edge of the hub on the castle side just before the sidewalk ends. During the Haunted Mansion bit in the show look straight up specifically during the 'Is this haunted room actually stretching?" bit. After the fireworks head over to the 10:30 Fantasmic show. The best spot is either right in front or right behind and slightly to the right of the sound/light board. It gives you the best view and the best sound. If you don't get a chance to do Splash Mountain during the day do it at night during the 2nd Fantasmic show. The line tends to be fairly short. If you are able to and have the cash to spend you should make reservations at the Bleu Bayou for lunch or dinner. Lunch time is cheaper, it's about 23 bucks a plate but the food is good and you get free refills. The restaurant itself sits inside Pirates of The Caribbean along the waters edge and it's in a nighttime setting. If you are going on the 22nd you are able to make reservations right now and you should if you plan on eating there because they book up fast. If you get the chance you should catch The Electrical Parade at California Adventure and get on the Sun Wheel in one of the moving gondolas along with all the other rides people told you to hit up.

PTR: Hector's 2008 adventures!
cosmic hearse replied to RCFreak's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
It's nice to see City Center coming along, I can't wait until it's done. My sister lives out there and every time I go visit her we try to go to the gardens at the Bellagio and they're always closed! It's always in a transition phase, last time they were buliding for the display that they have right now. Nice to see it in picutres at least. -
I usually go to SF Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland. I plan on going to the park on a Tuesday, if it is packed what rides should I avoid and which rides should I be absolutely sure to get on? I know for sure I will be waiting for El Toro no matter what. I'm a fan of pretty much any ride as long as there isn't crazy head banging going on.

Yes- Somehow my phone made it's way out of my pocket while riding Space Mountain. I noticed once we were over by Splash Mountain and went back to check. Luckily they had picked it up and set it aside. Have you ever been to a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Nice! Where you able to catch The Verve, Spiritualized or Massive Attack? Who was the ska band you saw? -
Yes - I have a few Disneyland ones. Have you ever felt a genuine fear for your life while on a coaster?

I'd say Montezuma's Revenge, California Screamin' at California Adventure is pretty tame and smooth and has a loop. When I was in Jr High I went to Magic Mountain with a friend of mine who was terrified of coasters. He would wait at the exit while the rest of us got on. We forced him into the line for Viper with us. By the time we got to the stairs he had started crying. We kept him there and tried re-assuring him but it didn't work. He ended up leaving the line in tears. We got on the ride met up with him and he was still crying! Later that day we were able to convince him to do Revolution. He was nervous in line but he did it and he loved it! We ended up riding it like 6 times in a row because he didn't want to get off. So in short my third choice would be Revolution. If my puss of a friend could handle it I'm sure your new man can do it too.

I think that if they would just tack on a few second clip of Thomas Town and a "And don't forget to bring the kids to see the new Thomas Town" it would pull in a decent amount of people. Thomas is a bigger brand than some people think. Even though it's just a train ride and a couple of other things parents with Thomas fan children will go. We have a Thomas store at a local mall and my sister would drive out a half hour to take my nephews there. They'd get a toy and be able to play in a small play area with other kids. Once a year an actual Thomas 'full size' Train stops by at a somewhat-local Train Station, they do a story time and the kids get to ride the train for a scenic fairly short ride. That event sells out so quick, and once again people drive out pretty far first to buy there tickets and then another distance to the train station just to hear a story and ride the train. Parents with children who are into Thomas go to some great lengths, even if there are parks like Disneyland and Knotts in the same area I think they'd be bothered by their kids to go to Thomas Town. Along with adding a few more rides in the area, I think if they would build a room or an area for parties and sell birthday party packages for kids it would sell well. Kind of like the birthday packages at Knotts in Camp Snoopy. But first the public has to know about it! Absolutely no one I know has any clue that a Thomas Town exists. I showed my sister pictures of it via interweb and she was like 'here's this at?'I told her it was at MM and as a result they are planning on going when they come to California next week.
