How often do you ride coasters?
bgwfreak replied to Jumboshrmp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I live 20 miles or so from Carowinds so I go a couple times a month. I usually do at least one big trip to other parks in the summer (this year it was Beech Bend, Holiday World, Dollywood and Six Flags St. Louis). I also usually do a fall weekend trip. This year is more than normal. I've done SFOG, my big May trip, Camden Park this week and Myrtle Beach in September. -
This thread is now non-offensive to all from West Virginia.

I would have, but I knew you would get me at C3.

Do you talk to strangers in line with you?
bgwfreak replied to PhillyGirl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I normally only talk to people if they ask me a question like "how big is this Borg coaster thingy" or whatever. Then I'll strike up a conversation. But if I'm with friends I normally don't talk to other people. What! You can't see that I'm with people! Leave me alone! -
The shuttle loop is no longer there. I didn't even know they used to have one till I was planning this trip. Drive time is about 5 hours from Charlotte (not including stops).

I hadn't been up to Camden Park (Huntington, West Virginia) yet so I decided to take the West Virginia Turnpike (I-77), pay a few tolls and check out the park. It was an OK park at best. They had some cool old flats though and the two coasters weren't bad. Weren't great, but they were ok. To check out all my photos visit here. http://community.webshots.com/album/552028896gHlNCi Hey kids! This is rusty the clown! Come on in to my dumpy little park! Ok it wasn't that bad. Big Dipper - A pretty nice old wooden coaster. It has the single lap bar, no seatbelts and one massive ejector spot and then some nice air on the other hills. The guy is saying "Grrrr. I'm being anti-social. Throw me out of the park. Please!" Bull Eye. Another classic flat ride. Go already! This is like being on the West Virginia Turnpike! Like yo. I'm not going to ride with my restraint down! Log flume.... remind anyone of a certain road in San Francisco? Smallest lift on a log flume ever! Zamperla flying ride. It was ok, but it reminded me of riding a paratrooper on your stocmach. Worst mini golf ever! Haunted House. This thing should count as a credit!!! It has a LIFT HILL and it runs on gravity! It's not scary at all, but it's still fun twisting and turning on those cars that feel like they will fall apart any second. Jr. Whip. Everyone say it together... Aweeeeeeeeee! The kid in the second row is like freaking out! He must have seen a picture of Robb! These people are having way too much fun on Lil' Dipper. They had a new set of flyers. But no snapping was possible. At least for me. The swan is thinking... ooooh! That feels good! I finally got to ride my first whip! It was a lot of fun!

The best discount for Carowinds
bgwfreak replied to USRoadTripper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The pay once visit twice deal is about the best you'll find. I haven't seen any Coke cans with the $5 off or whatever this year, plus I don't buy sodas anymore. I live about 25 minutes from Carowinds. Hope you enjoy Top Gun and the Phantom Flyers. Hurler is really good in the front seat as well. When are you going? Please don't go in August unless you want to burn up. -
I love the Vu. Too bad I've only gotten 2 rides on it in the 5 years it's existed.

Parks on 4th July
bgwfreak replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hmmm... I wasn't really offended by any of them. Wait. What were we talking about again? Most parks just have the typical fireworks after dark. No big deal. -
I raised my hands on Hypersonic my first ride and had blue legs the next day from the bruises.

This is really silly, but I couldn't help but laugh at it. http://www.storewars.org/flash/index.html

Parks of the Deep South 2006 Photo Update!
bgwfreak replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't believe they said that the wacky worm can't have adults on it when the one up at MB Grand Prix let me get my credit on it. lol I'm glad I didn't even bother with it 2 years ago when I was down there. Last time I was, I just rode Swampy a couple times and left for Pavilion. -

bgwfreak replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Bummer. It's not going to let me do it the other way I was going to try. Oh well, I guess I can just post the link to the pic but that kind of defeats the purpose of a Photo TR. For now you can check out all the pics here: http://community.webshots.com/album/549866281GpKgfS -

Is anyone having the same problem? -
So yeah we heard there was this new "coaster" thingy being built at this place called "Six Flags over Georgia". Never heard of the place before so we decided to check it out. Getting to our hotel was quite an adventure in itself. Our lovely navigator decided to leave Charlotte at Noon so that we would be sure and hit all the lovely Atlanta Friday rush hour traffic... Needless to say there was not one wreck, but two on the outerbelt around Atlanta. It took us one whole hour to drive 15 miles just so we could "avoid" the traffic downtown. Ugh. After I survived the urge to blow my brains out in Atlanta traffic, we got to Ruby Tuesday and had a nice diner then headed to the hotel for the evening. Next morning our fears were somewhat relieved with a look at the raidar. The storms would probably be passing through Atlanta and gone for good by about Noon. Not too bad. So we got to the park and of course it was still raining a bit (thanks to your truly though we had ponchos!) (notice JD and Scott modeling the lovely Golith-Orange ponchos). As you can see Goliath has taken over the front of the park for good. And that's a good thing in most cases. (Taken later in the day) Poor Scorcher, he looks so dejected now that Goliath has taken over...you can almost hear Goliath saying "Ha ha silly standup coaster! Bow before my awesomeness!" Goliath was having some "technical difficulties" that morning and would not open for 8:30 ERT as planned. bummer. So we headed off to GASM and the "original" Superman: Ultimate Flight for some ERT on those coasters. After we got one ride on Superman we were almost about to leave the station when they shut down the ride because of "rain". Uh...how is rain going to hurt the ride? Oh well. So we decided to head back over to Goliath and see if we could get in line for whenever it opened to the General Public (since our morning ERT was canceled). As we crested the hill into USA I heard Goliath again saying "Ha ha...silly mortals. You can not tame my Alien B&M goodness!". (After all this Goliath is themed (somehow) around the 50's/time travel/and/or aliens). So we made it up to the line and waited and waited, meanwhile it started raining and raining. At some point the ACE guys came by and said we could wait in the station instead of waiting out in the rain. nice! Here you see Scott waiting...and waiting... and waiting... Why IS that guy looking at me like that? Dude I'm straight! I sware! I know it's an ACE event, but come on. Leave me alone! Next up... will Goliath ever open? Will Scott strangle the ACE rep from the South East? These and other questions to be answered.
