You remember, if they still did it - a circus act where somebody would be up on a giant rolling ball, balancing on it, rolling it around here and there thru-out the BigTop? Maybe up and down a seesaw trick board, too? Can't remember, if Cirque De Soleil had/has such an act in one of their past or present productions. But yeah, I used to be able to do that - and probably still can, too. Woo hoo! I actually have myself in pix for a 1974 stage version of (eep) 'No,No, Nanette.' Act II's Beach scene Opening. BIG beach balls. (Must find those pix, huh?) Go figure, huh?

Universal Florida Help
Nrthwnd replied to Flying Unicorn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
And really remember - if you still aren't sure, and don't want to ride it at that time - so be it. You really shouldn't have to ride something tou have doubts about. Peer pressure can be bad, even with coasters, hmmm? I dislike it that even Disney calls their secondary exits, Chicken Exits. Do they still call them that? Anyway, if you feel the need to bail out, you have the right to bail out. And feel strong that if anybody calls you chicken, just Cluck Cluck at them and laugh. Make it a funny joke. Call them a roooooooooster! You'll ride them soon enough. And if this trip is the one, great!!! Good for you! -
What parks do you plan to visit in 2006?
Nrthwnd replied to coasterguy618's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My 'backyard park,' Playland (sic) when it re-opens in Mar/April. The UK Coaster Tour in June. That's over 10 parks, right? So far? And... that's about it. For 2006. -
Excellent 'new segment' Robb. But, what about Dumbo??? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The sad truth is, most parents that go to these Disney parks, expect that every ride is (still) 'family oriented', when in truth, "it ain't necessarily so..." I vaguely remember my mom being hesitant about taking me on (gasp) the Matterhorn at DL, back in 1963 when I was....10? But we did go on it, I loved it, and of course she freaked and screamed on it, lol. Parents ARE the deciding factor, not the ride operators, hmm? And if they can't judge better, than what is a height restriction going to do, really? -------------------------------------------------------------- My condolensces (sp?) to the family of the child who passed. It's a terrible tragedy.

^ Thinks that 'being at work' will keep < off the streets. < Hah! Is retired now, so doesn't have to work. V Is on the streets, right now, working.

And this is the company that produced the Dungeons of London - Edinburgh - and Hamburg. I believe these other three 'Dungeons of...' have boat rides thru them? And none of them in a converted church like this, yes? No? Ah those wonderful, crazy Dutch peeps. What were they smoking when they dreamt this one up, LOLO???!

So how many people out there are ACEer's?
Nrthwnd replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was an ACE member long, long ago, when the club first began (when was that, anyway?). Got the'zine for a couple of years, then just let the membership go, for no reason. To really 'date' myself, the last issue of the club's magazine I got was featuring the beginning of the building of The Beast at PKI  Late 70's, hmmm? And I have no problems with gravy, lol. Depending on the main course, of course. -
I couldn't wait to show pix I just found, of this new attraction being built in Amsterdam. All the more so, because hopefully, it will have opened just before I arrive there for a week's+ stay, end of this month! And the whole system is built in an already existing church! Now that's unique, hmm? And I do believe there's a hill in there, if you look closely? With a reverse track turntable, too? This is definitely going to be a neat unexpected add-on to my visit there. Note: All pix are from www.whooshmagazine.com (Also - sorry the pix are shown in reverse order. I still haven't gotten numbering sequences and posting skills, etc. down good...yet. ) Here's the main sign. And all pix are from www.whooshmagazine.com And where it's located. Roughly, lol. I think it starts around here, on this part of the track. Hmmm. Wonder if you start forward, or backward... What the upper track passes over... The turntable - and can you see the hill yet? Heh heh heh. The lower track and a car 'base' it looks like, on it. Hmmm... Now you can see that hill, right? Close up of lower track and car 'base'. Near the end of the 'ride'? Why Do You Love Theme Park Review?
Nrthwnd replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Before TPR, I was a lost soul wandering the desert of the internet looking for that one thing, that group of people, that community... ~~~ ...aw crap, what-ev-er! The videos, the captions, the near-flames, the lockdowns, the goofy pix, the great photos, good chats, accessability to anything and everything that is 'coaster'.... other than live porn . Rage on, TPR! Free stickys for everybody!!! -
I have to ask this - been curious for awhile since I signed on, in August. What exactly is a "Hidden user online?" I note that between us Registered and those as Guests....Hidden user. Usually with a '0' there, lol. Or, is it a well-kept TPR secret? 8)

Spam spam spam spam spam - oh wait, is that a quote? ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ (Puh-lease look into getting yourself a copy of the Broadway cast album, of "Monty Python's SPAMalot." You won't regret it. And if you do....nyeh!)

Grumble, grumble *same thing happened with The Simpsons* grumble First two, new episodes, then last night - repeat! Are they out of ideas already? Sheesh. ~ ~ ~ ~ And I just recounted my coaster count. And once again, I somehow over counted by (gulp) 3, which brings the # down to (boo hoo) 84. Ah well, I'll still hit #100 when the UK tour happens (a bit'o happiness here).

^ Yeah, it's just getting to the park within a resonable time frame prior to it's "offical opening" and hope for the best. Soft openings can happen any time, mid-day on, or only in the morning. This isn't exactly in the same attraction category, but when the Muppets 3-D Show premiered at WDW-MGM Studios back in 1991, we knew that it was opening soon, just not sure when. Happily, they had already started soft openings when we were there late spring, and we got to 'try it out' fresh and new as the show was, back then. With coasters and big attractions like EE you just never know. But eventually, somebody will find out about the soft openings, and hopefully post it here, hmm?

Canada's Wonderland 7/26/05
Nrthwnd replied to niiicolaaah's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for the TR. And once again, my angst kicks in for being on the other side of the country and NOT being able to get to PCW as often as I'd like to. One of these months, maybe next spring, I'll do a TR on the (literal) 'wasteland' that is called my (gag) 'home park,' Playland. And it's Coaster. -
Theme Park Review In The TOP TEN?!?
Nrthwnd replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
WOO HOO! -
It's raining - heavy - again today. Too much rain already here. IMO.

Excellent photo look at park themeing. And is it my imagination, or is the Halloween theme being used more and more with euro-parks? I know DLP has been doing it since back as far as 2001, I believe. And adding to it, every year on, lol. Thought I'd ask. All spurred on by a great photo tour, thanks!

Amazing park there. And yes amazing too, the time spent (138 years indeed!) on this wonderful place. Excellent. 8) Edit: And now you've already hit 146 years  -
^ Needs to be listened to. < Has no appointments, this entire week! V Is doing absolutely nothing, Columbus Day weekend.

Artistic help or ideas for a tattoo?
Nrthwnd replied to sfne2005's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed with coaster1. If you have a good tattooist, usually recommended by someone else you already know (?) they usually give you a per-hour fee. And that's the way it'll go, depending on whether it's a lot of lines, or filled-in areas, etc. Money = time = something yours and personal and coaster-friendly, heh heh. Great idea. And USRT your coaster 'swirl' is really nice. Before I saw that, I was reading down and wondering how to maybe figure a design out. And then, there was yours! Nice and clean. And I really don't think any brand-name logo should be there. Concept as is, alone? Yes. It looks really nice the way it is as I am seeing it now. And great some of us still remember those old EPCOT Pavillion logos. I immediately knew what they were, and started scrolling down to find out if anybody... and darn if ya beat me to it, Mr.Johnson. LOL Good stuff. ~ ~ ~ (I have two tats of my own, one each arm ) -
This post is already covered in a sticky, above here? Or being covered, incl.colors of... fyi
