It was a ferris-wheel attraction that had maintenance probs.and low loading numbers. They closed it up, kept the buckets on it for a while, then took them off. Now it just stands there as a refreshment stand. In the old days, when it was closed up, they decorated it all for the Christmas season.

Coolest station you've seen
Nrthwnd replied to Eric_Smith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One of The Coolest Stations I have ever seen is Black Mamba in Phantasialand. Not only is the entire station cool and eery, but the entire area around the queue, the walkways, and the ride itself, is wonderful and totally immersing. Can't be better than this, for such a large steel invert. IMhO. -
The Space Talent Show Theater looks and sounds an awful lot like the Universe of Energy in EPCOT...without all the dinosaurs, lol. And that shooting dark ride sounds a teensy bit like a Toy Story Midway Mania clone. On the whole, the park looks great and there seems to be a lot to do and ride there. And "two of the parks many dark rides"?

All in one visit, huh? Wow, all of the above looks wonderful! I can't comment on any of it, because it all - looks - awesome! (Even if a few things weren't to your liking.) -

Yes, that SLC was awful. And I remember somebody's cell phone (?) flying out and down into the grass, when we were there in 2012. Fun time. Also, the "Western Town" looks as bland now, as it did back then. I expected they'd have added more themeing to it by now, but obviously not. And at that time (it's opening season, yes?) several of us figured the park wouldn't last another season with the way everything looked unfinished, etc. But, I am glad it's still running, and only hope it gets it's act together and just improve everything there, more and more. Thanks for the look at it, and Youth Center. p.s. Stomach King Rules!

On-ride / Lift Hill Soundtrack
Nrthwnd replied to Sharman19's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Actually, ALL of the Space Mountain soundtracks are great, for me. Especially in the late 1990s when they started adding the soundtracks and speakers in the cars, etc. ^And I agree, the original DLP Space Mtn. soundtrack is really wonderful from 'lift-hill' to arriving back at the station. Very professional, original, and just exciting! I got to experience it on DLP's 10th Anniversary (2002). And the opening year of Walt Disney Studios, too. -
"Afternoon Delight" One of the sexiest pop songs ever written. And it's all about sex, right?

True. And in that vein.... The person below me has never been to China.

Photo TR: Mini New Hotness/East Coast Trip
Nrthwnd replied to cfc's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^^^ Wasn't The Black Hole a Rotor, anyway? Just trying to remember, here. Cyclone was awesome back in my 1989 visit to New York. Absolutely terrified us, how it rattled and rolled. But it was a rush, heh. And nothing else was open for us, so Cyclone was The Big Deal, back then for me. An early credit, lol. Great TR of all the beach area too, Chuck. ^ I think those are copies of the old Boardwalk (uh) Carriages, that people could.would ride/be peddled along the Coney Boardwalk. If you saw "Boardwalk Empire," the series, then you saw them ocassionaly in outdoor shots. I am shocked that they still exist, although in a "restricted area". -
