SFMM TR 11/19 Private Event
ShoubraStreet74 replied to XANAX: The Ride's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yup, Psyclone is pretty bad. I remember riding it in the back and getting a horrible pain in my stomach at the bottom of each hill (this was after I ate) as a result of the "xtreme" bumpiness. I don't think it should be torn down though because some people seem to like it for some weird reason. Maybe next time I go I'll try the front and see if it's any better. Back to the trip, it sounds like another geat day at SFMM. I too love Goliath despite the fact that many here seem to not like it at all. Anyway, glad to hear someone else had a relatively good day at the mountain. -
That thing looks awesome. (Looking at marker labeled CDs and shaking head...) It's about time for me to get a new printer and I will definitely take review into consideration if I decide to buy one. Congratulations on what looks like a very good purchase.

I got one about a year ago, but it's only 8x and is only single layer . I read in PC Magazine about the lightscribe feature but have yet to see it or use it, have you tried it yet? Another question, what skin are you using with windows? It looks very different and the icons look really cool. -
Underrated Coasters?

Revolution at SFMM - Lots of people complain about it, but I love it every time I ride it. (Even with the OTSRs and extensive breaking) -

So, so sorry to bring this up, but I felt I had to clear up a horrible misconception in the earlier post. I find that hard to believe since Islam prohibits rape or adultery. Why would an Islamic theocracy say it's O.K. if Islam itself clearly forbids it? Just in case there are doubts, here is an article outlining Islam's rules on rape. http://www.submission.org/women/rape.html Many others can be found with some quick searching. Not that it matters, but I have lived in Egypt and Jordan for several years when I was younger. Again, sorry for bringing this up, but I couldn't help but correct something that is completely false and honestly is quite offending. -

Aqualine [NL]
ShoubraStreet74 replied to coasterlover420's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Pros: -creative idea -relatively smooth -custom supports -nice choice of colors Cons: -Launch system unrealistic (it continues to launch while banked) -Transport wheels should be replaced with LIMs -Ending seemed awkward IMO -Final headchopper comes a bit too close -While there are some custom supports, they are not very realistic, and several areas seem very over-supported. -Gs go pretty deep in the red zones. (would cause severe problems for the rider) Bottom Line: A very good idea with some sizeable flaws. However, it's actually pretty good compared to most others. -
It all depends on what kind of park you're interested in. For lots of rides and an "OK" atmosphere, SFMM will do. If you're more interested in the overall experience (atmosphere, food, etc.) look into DLR or USH. Generally they all are reasonable in most aspects and I would recommend SFMM because it's alot of fun if you choose the right day to go.

RCT3 FPS
ShoubraStreet74 replied to CoasterXtreme's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
With my old GeForce FX 5900 (128mb) it was generally ok but with some low fps when viewing lots of stuff at once. With my new Geforce 6800GT (256mb) everything runs fine with no noticeable frame rate issues. Beyond 1GB of RAM shouldn't make more difference in most cases (I have 1GB) Most of the performance is video-card based. Anyway, I didn't notice much improvement after adding Soaked, and from the various reviews/articles I've read, it doesn't really improve the FPS that much. Individual experiences may vary though, but that's the idea I seem to get from what I've seen. -

Psyclone at SFMM *shudders* But I still enjoy Ghostrider so I would keep that... -
6'0" only a few inches away from not being able to ride Deja Vu.

6'0" and 215 lbs ....Yeah I'm pretty fat, but I don't look as fat as I am. (did that make sense?)

Which Video Game has the best soundtrack?
ShoubraStreet74 replied to coasterguy618's topic in Random, Random, Random
^ I agree, the soundtrack of both the original Halo and Halo 2 is very good. I want to say Half-Life 2 but just can't since the music is rarely even around anyway. Halohas the best soundtrak, its so..... right for the game, and adds alot to the overall atmosphere. It seems really hard to think of a game I've played that has a very good sountrack, Halo is the only one that comes to mind. -
Nolimits is alot more accurate, precise, and realistic. Although it's alot harder to make good coasters with it. You should explore the Nolimits Editor in the demo thorougly and see what you're getting in to before you buy it. It's extrmely hard to make coasters (let alone good ones) with nolimits. So keep in mind the devotion it takes to suceed in nolimits.

I hate to argue with this since alot of it is legitimate. Also, I think that whatever someone's computer preference is all depends on what suits their individual needs. Some people may like the way a Mac looks or performs, and that's totally fine. However, I think I should correct a few misconceptions in your post. 1. There are some viruses for OS X, although not nearly as prevelent as with windows. However, a well secured Windows PC with a fully updated version of windows, a firewall, and a reliable antivirus is almost completely virus-safe. For example, my PC hasn't had a virus in it's 6 month existence. 2. It is true that Macs are welcoming to new users. But so are Windows computers. There are plently of user-friendly features and the OS is generally easy to use. (not an implication that Mac OS X is not) Also, the implication that a built windows PC that is inexpensive has to be compiled of crappy parts is usually false. The components that you would buy are almot always the same companies you would find in a computer you would build. (AMD, Intel, nVidia, ATI, MSI, etc.) In retrospect, I think what I was trying to say was that I would not recommend switching to Mac with an expectation of running RCT3 better. Macs may very well suit your other needs. It is all a matter of preference. However, I do think that people get negative opinions of PCs because they have had an experience with one that was really bad, outdated, slow, or running an obsolete OS. This is not the case with newer systems, and in my opinion they are just as user-friendly as a Mac. Also, while viruses, spyware, and other similar things may be made out as extremely comon, they can easily be avoided with some windows updates and some Antivirus/antispyware software (theres plently of freeware utilities that are very good if money is an issue). Anyway, good luck with whatever computer you own

This is good news in that the game will be available to more people, but I would strongly advise against switching to Mac for the following reasons: 1. To get a Mac that will play rct3 well would cost ALOT more than a PC that can do the same. 2. Macs lack upgradeability (or if they are upgradeable, you have to get more expensive Maccertified components and often pay extra to have them installed in the non-install-friendly cases) 3. Macs lack the variety of programs windows has (sure they have the basics like word and the others, but it's very hard to find the variety that exists with windows programs) There are others.... Anyways, as far as cost/value ratio, PCs are much better. And don't expect it to run better because it's a Mac. It Won't. Apple goes into alot of trouble in making their computers "look good" and have a distinctive feel to them, but when it comes down to performance, value, and components, Windows PCs are the way to go. Try not to get sucked into their evil propaganda and brainwashing techniques (j/k). ---This is coming from someone who built a high-end gaming PC for under $800

Reolution is definitely NOT comparable to Psyclone. Despite the fact that it must have been alot better back in the day I still think it's a great coaster. I experienced NO headbanging in the 5 times I've been on it, and it's alot more exciting than it currently looks in the pics/POVs. It's still one of my favorites in the park because I think it's really fun. Others may have varying opinions, but I dont think many people think it is even close to Psyclone in pain level or in general. Is this footage available online? If so, could you please post the link?
