Disneyland Mark VII Monorail Discussion

It was just a case of a CM telling an overly-simplified and almost totally erroneous story to appease a guest. The CM could have just been very misinformed, however CMs are known to lie to guests go they can then go compare stories and giggle amongst themselves. Just read "Mouse Tales" by David Koenig. -
Yes, that is called a tower 2 miscatch. It didn't latch on properly to the catch car of the lift, and dropped prematurately. The emergency brakes in the loop stopped it, because it may have had enough momentum to clear the loop, then get stuck in the boomerang part, and it would be harder to evacuate riders from there. The rocking motion of the train after the e-stop probably indicates they were trying to get it to reconnect with the tower 2 lift, rather than hastily evacuate. The video has been posted here before, but it's nice to see it again, so it can find a wider "audience."

^Haha, man, I hope not! There's got to be more to this thread, right? -
^I've always liked Texas Tea.

For many people, the "drop" feeling, negative Gs, losing your stomach, is the worst part of any coaster. Most of SFMM's coasters are actually devoid of that. The only ones that give that sensation are Goliath (of course), Colossus (a little bit), and...is that it? Sitting closer to the front will make things better, as the drop, and drop sensation will seem shorter.

^^All good points, Wes. Earlier in the film, Juno made it clear that she wanted her baby to be adopted by a good family; loving parents, financially stable, etc. So, it was a little surprising to me that after Mark (Bateman) had announced he was leaving, (and Juno having become friends with him, so was much closer with him than with Vanessa, Garner's character,) Juno seemed to have quickly forgotten that she wanted her baby to have both parents, and left the note just for Vanessa--Mark excluded. Juno's opinion of Vanessa probably changed after their encounter in the mall, but still. ^Glad I'm not the only one, and happy to see my words have entered TPR pop culture. -
$5 tips? I think I could muster up a smile for that! Either way, this is a good ongoing thread, so keep up the good work.

Anakin's mother was impregnated by midichlorians, everyone knows that! As for me being "pIZwn3d," I addressed that issue in another thread, and didn't "grasp at straws" trying to defend myself. You guys should seek to hold a copyright on that. Anyway, I was only taking issue with that since everything else in the film was handled so well. I think the fact Bateman and Garner didn't reconcile was a missed opportunity. This is why I requested, if at all possible, Ms. Cody herself to say something on this matter. So in closing, is it possible for a single parent to do a good job? Yes. But since we are talking about a movie--a fictional story and the screenplay it was based on--I just would like to know what the writer was saying about Bateman's character, marriage, and children being raised without a father. -

I wouldn't be surprised if women aren't getting the same treatment. Women in the men's room = funny. Men in the women's room = creepy. -

^She could have exactly been saying that. However, it's the whole "a child doesn't need a father," especially when it's a son, that I am taking issue with. -

When he captioned a pic saying something about how good the food was, sadly my first thought was "it's just downhill from here." Looks like a fun little park, though, and if it doesn't fail in its first few years it'll be nice to see it properly filled out. Looking forward to the Led Zep pics! -

Okay. Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner play a married couple in the film. It's obvious Diablo Cody didn't write Mr. Bateman's character to be loathesome, as he was written to be "cool as can be." However, his character is absent from the third act. We were told of marital problems, but I am surprised he never returned. Furthermore, we were made aware that Juno gave birth to a boy, which would be adopted by the now-separated Garner. So...as cool as Bateman's character might have been, was Diablo Cody telling us that men/fathers are unnecessary in the raising of a child? The child could have just as easily been written to've been a girl, but the fact it was a boy raises that question, especially. Does a child, boy or girl, only need a mother? Ms. Cody? -

I'm glad that you posted about your experiences on Giant Drop. Even if it's not the most intense drop tower in the world (right?), it definately is the most intimidating. VivaLaVibora, I will admit that "freefalls," or 1st generation Intamins are/were tough, I do think they were intense as well. But I think SF's Mark Shapiro had a good reason to remove them from all SF parks, due to the fact they had all become very rough, and were taking away from the guests' experience. -
Busch Gardens Africa in Tampa, to be sure. Unless you can fly anywhere you wish to visit, getting around via public transportation from Orlando will probably be difficult and expensive.
