A disappointing day at SFNE would be not riding Superman. Just ask Divv3k. You rode it, and that means it was a good day. -

Points for mentioning Dodonpa, and using it as the airtime yard stick against even El Toro. -
Let's Learn about the Matterhorn!
RIP Psyclone replied to Alpenguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That just made me think of something. In 1978, Matterhorn got new trains, plus new visual elements and audio effects. Sound familiar? Disney could have marketed it as Matterhorn 2 back then! -

I think once the source of "We are high up!" is identified, it will finally be put to rest. Pretty much everything else is covered, except the "Jekyll & Hyde" bit. -
I was 6 when King Kong became part of the Studio Tour. I remember the tour being much longer back then, almost a full day thing. At least several hours. You would get out of the tram at times. An older neighbor kid told me King Kong personally attacked him, and he had to be hospitalized. I wasn't a gullable kid, though. Anyway, so long, old friend. RIP King Kong, 1986-2008

Six Flags Magic Mountain X2 Campout!

For a one train operation, the new unloading/loading procedure saves time. It probably does for 2 trains as well. 3 trains, well, that would have to be seen. Hopefully a lot of fine tuning will take place in the months to come. It just hurts seeing an unused X2 train in the shed, when we were promised 3 train operation at all times. But you have to remember that the third train is broken. There is no sound. Wouldn't you rather have two working properly? I'm sure it's been fixed already. It's not like it lost a wheel! -
If the old unload section was turned into a new load/unload section, it would help, as there would be pretty much as trains 1 & 2 would ready to go at all times, after the 3rd train had cleared the coarse. The 2nd train may move to a temporary spot just after the front loading area until the 3rd train, the train now in the front load spot was ready to go and had cleared the course, giving trains 2 and 3 room to unload/load. The 2nd train would dispatch as soon as the 1st trained has cleared the course, just as the 2nd train would be dispatched as long as the first train has clearned the course. The 3rd train would move straight up to the front unload/load area right away, and the process would continue. Of course, Tatsu style would work better, but the width of the station would be prohibative. Trains 1 & 2 unloading and unloading while train 3 is in the course. Train 3 catches up, train 1 is dispatched, train 2 moves forward out of the load area until until train 1 returns. So basically: 1 & 2 unloading/loading, 3 making the run. 3 & 1 unloading/loading, 2 making the run. 2 & 3 unloading/loading, 1 making the run. And so forth. This would be so there would always be a locked and loaded train ready to go.

NOOOOO! That's Jim Morrison of The Doors. I thought it was very appropriate. "Is everybody in?"...secured in their seats. "The ceremony is about to begin!" Great build up, and a nice surprise for Doors fans. -
Can you please cite a source for this information. I don't doubt you, I would simply like to know the source. Thanks! It's just simple math. 3 minute dispatchs is 20 dispatches per hour. 20 times 28 = 560 riders per hours. There have been 2 minute intervals, so let's say the average is 2.5 minutes. 2.5 minute intervals amounts to 24 dispatches per hour. 24 times 28 = 672 riders per hour. Even an average of 2 minute intervals, 30 per hour, 30 times 28 = 840 riders per hour. To crack 1000 riders per hour would require 36 dispatches in that hour, each averaging 1:40. I'm just saying, I hope you guys can find a way.

^^Oh, and then it switches to "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys, and "Wake Up" by Rage Against The Machine during the brake run. -

^"Going down!" is from Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator." Going up the hill, I definately heard the Drill Sergeant from Full Metal Jacket. "Is everybody in?" which you hear in the station is spoken by Jim Morrison of The Doors. -
I think twin loading stations would really be the only way to run 3 trains without constant stacking. Before I rode X2 yesterday, I thought they were just being lazy. Now that I've seen the operations, there just isn't a lot of time they could cut from the dispatch intervals. However, as fast as the line seems to be moving at times, hourly capacity is still below 1000. Tim Burkhart said his goal was a capacity of about 1100 per hour. I hope they do find a way. Anyway, X2 is probably the most complete roller coaster experience out there, aside from ones at Disney parks. From the TVs in the queue, as you enter the station and hear the music, ambient noises, and voices ("Is everybody in?" and the echoed "X2"), and up until you ride it, it's a completely themed ride package. The ride itself feels pretty much the same, but the other things really do add to it, as Robb has said.

There are 3 old interior shots on Yesterland: www.yesterland.com/insidematterhorn.html You can see how there were lookout holes at the top of the lift hill that were filled in at the time of the renovation in 1978. -

(I thought this was a great trip report, and felt the language barrier shouldn't be the reason some people may not read this one...so to give you a rough translation into English:) So, now we are again back. On Saturday afternoon Tanja and I made us on direction Heidelberg to my cousin. We went, went and went and suddenly STOP! Freeway because of accident blocked: It went quickly again further and races made we at the Moselle bridge at the service area Moselle view: The morning after that. ...es was named: Early rise After approximately an hour trip through vineyard and mini villages finally there As very first, it went to mammoth: After that we let first of all the "sow out" And again mammoth And equally again after next door to the "sow" Tanja before the entrance of the bathtub slump trip Details, as far as the eye can see Now it was named first of all: Deliciously meal! The loving details in the park pursued one regular The wine tub trip Flora and fauna The coffee cups in the coffee mill The soup bowls Theming e mas Old woman mill The Tripsdrill' sche Splash Battle. Wonderful! The thunder beam, beautifully themed The beautifully lain park had even a petting zoo Splash me, baby! Further details The Scheisshäusle Now it was named cool off first of all The park from above This train went between Tripsdrill and the wild park lying beside it always back and forth Clumsy sack In the interior of the old woman mill The brood station in the park The Guglhupf The poisonous fly fungus Also the centipede rests through the landscape On the way to the Gsengten sow and bathtub slump trip Sow, sow, sow Tanja before the vineyard View of the mammoths Messes up! Yes, mammoth is fun already No, no negative judgment. It is a Daumenzeig on the Logo Very lecherous effect: The tunnel! The station, very well themed We both on the sow On tour The May tree at the entrance/exit Then it went yet past at nut hole to Heidelberg/glues where we yet grilled evenings At the next morning, it was named then: From home and in the next obstruction. Result: Beautifully lain park that has to offer something for the entire family. All is things up to faster by small subject trips there. Who loves nature and loves quite imbedded attraction, that is exactly correct in Tripsdrill. The colleagues are always friendly, the meal deliciously and favorably and the parking free of charge. What one wants more ... -
None. I don't think it's "cool" to wear a coaster or park t-shirt in the same geographical region where it was purchased. Give me a t-shirt that would be obscure, or get double takes from people around here, and I might wear it. For instance, if I had a t-shirt from Fuji-Q Highland (that actually fit me) I would not only wear it, it would probably quickly become my most prized possession.

This was already explained on page 19. There's a little list. How about the soundbytes? All of the random spoken things on the ride's soundtrack? The one I know of is: 1. "Is everybody in?" -- Jim Morrison of The Doors
