  1. ^ I knew I liked you for a reason. I watched Nick At Nite obsessively as a kid, I'm assuming that's where it all comes from.
  2. Congratulations guys!! Looking forward to seeing pictures!
  3. Wow, is it wrong that I'm reading so much of this and thinking, why the hell should that be classified as a guilty pleasure?!?! Old American sitcoms. I Love Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore, Taxi, Bewitched, I Dream Of Jeannie... I can't get enough of them.
  4. ^ Good plan. I've been wanting to get a tattoo for a while but kept changing my mind, and figure hell, it's permanent, best to be sure.
  5. We have the highest teen pregnancy rate in Europe. And Elissa is absolutely correct about stupid teenage girls smoking during pregnancy in order to have a smaller baby and an easier birth. I don't want to start a debate on having to be married to have kids, but I totally disagree with that statement. Not all teen pregnancies turn out bad. Several of my friends have had children very young, with varying results. I have some whose parents practically raise the kids, who have nothing to do with their fathers and have NOT been raised well thus far. But I also have several friends who, despite having their children very young, and no longer being together with their baby's fathers, are WONDERFUL young mothers with well-raised beautifully-behaved children. It's obviously harder when you're younger, but age isn't necessarily indicative of parenting skills, and there are ways of making the best of a "bad" and often unexpected situation. Having said that though, I'm still not advocating girls getting pregnant at the age of 14!! Honestly, I wonder where the teenagers' parents are whilst their kids are off having unprotected sex.
  6. Wow Wally, I'm generally not actually a fan of lower arm or wrist tattoos, but that looks really freakin' cool!! Love it! So is Mrs Phishy gonna go back another day to get hers done? Or did she change her mind?
  7. I think it's all about finding the right balance. I'm not exactly big on the whole history thing, but I do have an appreciation for old coasters and the stories behind them. But at the same time, as much as we don't necessarily all like to think of it that way, the amusement park industry IS a business, and they do have to weigh up whether it's worth the cost of keeping things maintained over putting the money into something new that at the end of the day, will bring in more custom. I'm almost certain that coaster enthusiasts have FAR more appreciation for the history of things than a large proportion of the GP, who care more about a big brightly painted pretty new coaster with inversions. Interesting article. Agreed about the typos.
  8. Bumping!! Personally, I prefer steel coasters, although that may or may not be down to the fact that I've only ridden about 20 wooden coasters, very few of which I felt were *really* enjoyable (Balder and Thundercoaster being the notable exceptions).
  9. It was a while ago, but we do already have a poll on this that got many votes and is still valid, so I'm gonna go ahead and bump that one and lock this. Please continue discussion in the following thread: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16912 Thanks! --Lou
  10. Cool! Nice sunset photos too! Toboggan looks entirely evil, I love it.
  11. DAMN IT, that's TWICE I've done that. Seriously, REALLY sorry about that Kyle. (And Robb and Elissa: regretting your decision yet? )
  12. ^ Ugh, that kinda sucks! The closure rumours must have passed me by. Apart from being in the area of the park with Robb a few weeks back, I haven't been to Camelot since I was about 8, but I remember loving it. Part of me wishes I'd gone with a small group that roadtripped over there in June when the TPR crew was at Southport/Blackpool, but I'll probably get back there again at some point.
  13. Wow Kyle, that's really cool! I'm not a train enthusiast by any means but as a Disney fan that'd be totally awesome. I love that the carpet is from his apartment. PS - Regarding posting the pics backwards... This is the second time in as many months that you have failed at using teh internetz.
  14. £60,000? Do you know if that's confirmed, or just reported? I know that's still a significant amount of money, but I expected it to be more somehow.
  15. Locking this for now. Go ahead and send a PM to Robb or Elissa with your question, they'll let you know whether you should restart the topic or not. Thanks!
  16. It would be AWESOME if there was some kind of walkthrough ride based on the old tv show. I'm actually gonna go and YouTube that, there must be some of it on there. Camelot isn't closing anytime soon as far as I know... Are you getting mixed up with Southport, which is now very much dead?
  17. That was very much the impression I got when we were there too, to not necessarily assume that it will re-open, but that the fact that it hasn't been removed says something. It's such a shame to see it thre and not running, hopefully they will start operating it again at some point. Hey, with all the changes they've been making... Either they're very sentimentally attached to it or they certainly have plans for it to run at some point in the future, or it'd be gone by now. *shrug*
  18. Do you get to submit a piece of writing with the photographs? Because honestly, in essay form it would be more than easy to convince your teacher that even just being in a park can represent freedom, and then you could use pictures of basically any ride or coaster you wanted, from all over the park.
  19. Oooh fun!! Ed, this may be one time where my hierarchy can be reversed! I've always wanted to get to the Tate, shame I'm not gonna make it there while the slides are there.
  20. I really didn't care for her, but I did have some pity for her, and whether I liked her or not, I wouldn't wish death upon anybody. 39 is so young in the Western world in this day and age, God knows what she had pumping through her bloodstream. I feel bad for her little girl, but at least the kid is too young to really remember her mother.... It's a bad thing in some ways, but a good in others. Also, Anna Nicole raising a child now was quite a worrying thought for me, as it would be more than likely the kid would end up pretty screwed up. I hope they get the paternity thing sorted and get the baby into a good home asap.
  21. HEY!! I am NOT 30!! I was more upset to lose Sirius in Book 5. Is it wrong that I was TOTALLY in love with a fictional character?!
  22. ^ I believe when we rode it in June none of the effect were working... At least I sure don't remember any air or water effects there like have been mentioned in this thread and elsewhere. To be honest though, it was really "WTF?!" enough without any effects. Bizarre. I didn't hate it, I just meh'd it because it confused me so damn much!
  23. I'm not a beer drinker although I have had a couple of fruity ones that I've liked... This could be interesting!! Have to search it out in September methinks.
  24. Wow, I REALLY want to do a Disney Cruise at some point. Hell, I just really wanted to do a cruise, but you've narrowed the field for me now. Looks like a fun trip, glad you guys enjoyed Stacey's birthday! I loved the Space Centre when I was there back in... I'm guessing '96, maybe '97. Kinda unfortunate that it doesn't look like it's changed at all. I'm all for retro charm, but it does seem like it needs freshening up. Hopefully the new simulator (even if it is just that) will liven things up just a little. Which circus was that? Do they treat the animals well? I bet the pachyderm painting looks great on your wall.
