  1. Happy 4th July or ID4 to everyone Where and how are you celebrating the day / evening..? Post any pic's from the parks.
  2. www.cedarpoint.com was my 1st site back in the late 90's, dreaming of visiting the Park one day, I managed this in 2000 and rode MF. I told one of the Ops, I travelled from England just to come to this park, it worked and he let me take the front row.
  3. My school days ended in the 80's.. Working in Computer IT for IBM and Virgin Media.
  4. No, my job is perfect and only 500 yards from my house. Do you think the "loop" on SOB should of stayed and not been removed..?
  5. I'm not bothered about how a roller coaster rides, let it be rough, slamming to the right n left, that's 1/2 the fun of riding one. As long as no sparks appear or the trains derail's itself i'll ride it. After riding SOB in July 2000 (can't afford to fly to the USA 2 often due to other commitments) no rollercoaster has more boucy, screeching and vibrations than this, heading towards the double helix of death. The "loop" was the best part. Need another woodie coaster with a "Loop" or "Corkscrew" installed within it's layout.
  6. Starliner looks lovey in it's new "Gloss" shade of white paint.
  7. Serves the kiddies right for messing around.
  8. The nearest water park to me is 40 miles away, it's ok but not great www.splashdownpoole.co.uk
  9. The Ops running the ride should check all the seatbelts etc before pressing the "start" button, the women killed worked at the park should of known better. I don't feel sorry for people who don't follow the rules on rides. There should not be any legal action taken, it's the riders fault not the parks.
  10. Have a lovely time in Europe and enjoy riding "Troy". You lucky people
  11. Seems like you hated your trip as everything you did was "sux'd" or "pissed u off".. Nice pic's though Can't wait to ride Cyclops, Hades and Zeus next year.
  12. Burger King tastes like real burgers and they use salad, while MD's burgers taste like "Rubber". If I go to MD's I only have a kids meal. But the King of Burgers is a local "Burger Van" on one of the roads near my house, fresh everything inc salad. they are so lovely. Wendy's took my money when I visited the "Windy City", their triples are something else.. mmmm
  13. I agree the coasters in the US are far better than the ones in Europe, I have ridden: Racer, Mean Streak, Beast, SOB, Blue Streak at CP, all gave a great ride in my view as these are the 1st big wooden ones I have ridden outside of the UK. I have not been on "Balder" in Liseberg Sweden, but I can guess it produces a simular amount of to "Colossos" in Heide-Park Germany which is very extreme. "Colossos" is Height: 196' 10" with a drop of 159' 1". I can't understand why it should loose so much height for the 1st drop, that's nearly 30ft difference. The English "woodies" are of a dying breed, the coasters at Blackpool are very re-rideable and have a good layouts, they all need a lick of "White Gloss" paint to make em looks "classic" again. Come on BPB give your coasters some "love".... The best Woodie in the UK is "Megafobia", as it was designed by an American company, it is built correctly and is an amazing piece of craftmanship. I would like to see Thorpe Park install a Wooden coaster not a "Flying or Floorless" model for the 2009 season.
  14. I'm not affected by this and don't care what happens to the celeb's if they want to keep in the public eye.
  15. You need all the support you can get for the 1st couple of years, after that your be going everywhere to enjoy yourself. It's such a shock for parents to find out your gay/bi, Bi is just being greedy , they want you to give them a grandson / daughter. When you tell Parents they are put back so much it takes them ages to figure out, just be strong and everything will work out. I check out the guys at work and everywhere I go, some are stunning.
  16. The seatbelt's should be adjustable for most coasters, Are the "Button" restraints better than a "Lap-Bar"..?
  17. KSM at Southport is being "dismantled" and moving to Margate next to the Scenic Railway ready to open for next season.
  18. I'm not convinced about 1/2 pipes, they don't really appeal to me. Any news about the one which is built on top of a building in Japan, it can't open cos of the locals complaining.

  20. I hope the "Wild Mouse" car was ok after hitting a pigeon. You don't want a car to de-rail when it's heading for the last dip and the 2 90 degree corners. Is the ride any smoother this season or is it still "brutal"..? I do miss the park and hopefully the Turtles will be staying for a while.
  21. Does a "Massive Charlie Horse in the back seat" mean your "bits" hit the bar and you went hot and felt faint..?
  22. Latest Southport pic's http://www.conceptnews.org/cyclone/pleasureland/pleas0607/ and: http://www.southportforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50375074
  23. This is what happened to the "Runaway Coaster" at Rotunda. The classic 1920's side friction portable "woodie" was being destroyed as of yesterday afternoon. I believe it was one of the last remaining attractions left on the former Rotunda Amusement Park site at Folkestone, Kent (England, UK). Apparently Nick Laister of the Save Dreamland Campaign had been in communication with the park owners to remove the ride from the park to place into storage. All very sad I think, and this now leaves only "Leap The Dips" in the US as a final example of an apparently very common coaster of this type in the 1920's era. I read this particular one was found in a field in Holland before it was shipped to Folkestone to be refurbished for its new patrons for the 1997 season. See www.savedreamland.co.uk forums for more info and the quite depressing pictures. I can't believe we seem to be hell- bent on destroying such historic rides at present. So close on the heels of the Cyclone too. ------------------------------------------------------------ According to nick laister of save dreamland the following rides are being put in storage in margate-ksm: River caves, catterpillar, skyride, haunted swing, astro swirl, remaining parts inside the funhouse and the ghost train workings electrics and cars-the haunted inn has asbestos and cannot be moved
