  1. Latest Southport pic's http://www.conceptnews.org/cyclone/pleasureland/pleas0607/ and: http://www.southportforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50375074
  2. This is what happened to the "Runaway Coaster" at Rotunda. The classic 1920's side friction portable "woodie" was being destroyed as of yesterday afternoon. I believe it was one of the last remaining attractions left on the former Rotunda Amusement Park site at Folkestone, Kent (England, UK). Apparently Nick Laister of the Save Dreamland Campaign had been in communication with the park owners to remove the ride from the park to place into storage. All very sad I think, and this now leaves only "Leap The Dips" in the US as a final example of an apparently very common coaster of this type in the 1920's era. I read this particular one was found in a field in Holland before it was shipped to Folkestone to be refurbished for its new patrons for the 1997 season. See www.savedreamland.co.uk forums for more info and the quite depressing pictures. I can't believe we seem to be hell- bent on destroying such historic rides at present. So close on the heels of the Cyclone too. ------------------------------------------------------------ According to nick laister of save dreamland the following rides are being put in storage in margate-ksm: River caves, catterpillar, skyride, haunted swing, astro swirl, remaining parts inside the funhouse and the ghost train workings electrics and cars-the haunted inn has asbestos and cannot be moved
  3. This ride is great, very unique and it's a vekoma. Love the whole thing, music, 30 car trains, circular lift hill reminds me of the "Black Hole" at AT, the lights, video's and the journey back to the station. All very cool.
  4. Since the Walibi Chain were bought out your "Fort Fun annual pass" may not be valid anymore. What do you mean by a "CdA park"..? or is this the company who own Walibi.. I visited this park last year and I found it excellent, Vertigo was being tested and all the rides were working to the max. "Turbine" is my fav, love the start (Flywheels win over lim's) and the only one left in Europe. The worst part of the day was in the Water World, you have to wear speedo's only (Could Belgium have a fetish of seeing lots of bulges) and the chorine levels in the water were so high it felt like my skin was Burning. I would go back in a few years to see if the Park has improved
  5. I've never heard of this show, what happens..?
  6. Lovely to see the Park make an effort with dancers and people getting dressed up. Happy Birthday "Cyclone" I'm sure there will be many more to celebrate even when it's lease has expired. "Cyclone" will never get pulled down as the the whole of NYC will be in up-roar if the "City" decided to raze it. Everyone wants to see the famous coaster reach it's 100th Birthday.
  7. How did you get into the "Scrapyard" to photo yourself on the old "Nash" or "Cyclone" trains..? Wonder if BPB want to see them... I thought it would of been fenced off and padlocked. Did you go on the "Wild Mouse"..? Best ride in the Park. Were the turtles still sunbathing and chasing each other on the grass.!!
  8. I can't do 10 mins let alone 10 hours on a Drop Ride. I hate them and come of "shaking" and look like i'm in shock.
  9. "I can't begin to even understand what could drive somebody to do this" RIP Chis
  10. Nemesis Inferno at Thorpe Park on 23/6/7
  11. Lovely photo's of CP's rides esp MF which I love, MF has an awesome 1st 80% 1st drop, floating 2nd hill to the Island, power and the speed. I photo'd MF from the road at night with it's light show, that is something else. Anyone got a video of the lights..? Found all rides at CP amazing inc Mean Streak (my 1st king size woodie, don't have any wooden coasters over 100ft in England). The brakes were there on the 1st drop but only felt the mid-course ones apply. Everywhere at CP is lovely, very tidy and a great place to spend a couple of days. The "Ice Cream" is the best I've ever had. Prob cos it's got loads of added Sugar A 10.5 hour drive is insane, that must be 1/2 way across America How many States did you drive through.?
  12. Nice Pic's, if you get stapled with the bar or ohr, tell an Op and they can release it till your happy. I push my stomach out and slouch in the seat (it's not a beer gut type) when they come and check the buzzbars etc, this way you get a lovely gap between the bar and your body when you sit up straight. Anyone know why the old 1st drop on the Riverside Cyclone not removed when it was re-profiled with a shorter drop..?
  13. The Carousel has 2 cars (facing each other as clam type) from the Phantom Phantasia / Wicked Witches Haunt which burnt down in the middle of the Summer of 2000 in a fire started on the nearby "Tropical Travels". I have not been on "Slammer", I was talking to one of the Ops and they said "don't lean forward when riding unless you want bruised shoulders". ---------------------------------------------------------------
  14. 1/2 way down the page there is a "Youtube" video which shows Rats surfing the waves. http://www.cuteoverload.com/
  15. I have not been to Thorpe Park for over 2 years (shameful as I only live 1/2 hour's drive away) mega long Q's and the whole park had a "power cut" about 2pm. Stealth was impressive, no "rollbacks" though Pic's below: Change of clothes required Heading for a soaking A Wet Lift Hill Rear Car shot of Mr Fish Welcome Back Home "Mr Fish" A very rough "Cobra Roll" Speed hump and headchopper "Gift Shop" The 10 "Headache" Looper Both "legs" or "Arms" of "Rush Some people did not look happy riding Sky Swat "Slammer" Going Up Interlocking B&M screws, Nemi Inferno was running fast today Heading for the ground Stealth: Mini TTD
  16. A few mins after the car came off the tracks. Pic take from: http://www.rideaccidents.com/
  17. Words can't describe the event and the aftermarth of the people who saw the accident. All my thoughts are for the girl and her family, hope she can recover from this and she can visit Theme Parks again.
  18. Who's gonna ask Knott's for the 1st 6 g ride.. I recon "Stealth" can go over 100, it does 0-80 in 1.9 sec.
  19. About the "Sign" picture question. The restrooms will give you more than enough pain over any Vekoma.
  20. The Park might of received letters of complaints about the ride's speed over the hills and going up the lift hill. May see "trims" on the 1st drop next season if the Park thinks the ride is shaking it's self to destruction. I hate to see any coaster slowed down, esp mid way with loads of bunny hops in front of you. e.g. Wild Thing. These should be taken at max speed. The designers of roller coasters know how much strain and speed the structure can take, but as with most things new, they all have to be "tamed" after a while.
  21. If "ManHunt 2" was to get released for PC, I think it would get banned as well. The 1st game is great, not cos you have 3 different types of killing someone but because you can attach a USB headset and it feels like the voice is telling you to seek revenge. Latest News: Game won't make July 10th release date Following bans on the sale of the game in the UK and Ireland, as well as a preliminary Adults Only rating in the US, Take-Two Interactive has temporarily shelved Manhunt 2. "Take-Two Interactive Software has temporarily suspended plans to distribute Manhunt 2 for the Wii or PlayStation platforms while it reviews its options with regard to the recent decisions made by the BBFC and ESRB," Take-Two said in a written statement. "We continue to stand behind this extraordinary game. We believe in freedom of creative expression, as well as responsible marketing, both of which are essential to our business of making great entertainment." Manhunt 2 was originally scheduled for a July 10th release on the PlayStation 2, PSP, and Nintendo Wii. However, Sony and Nintendo corporate policies forbid third-parties from releasing AO-rated titles for their systems. On Wednesday, Take-Two confirmed that the game had indeed received an Adults Only rating from the ESRB. The game has already been banned in the UK and Ireland. Take-Two has not yet announced its final intention to appeal the rating, to rework the game and resubmit it to the ESRB for a new rating determination, or to shelve the game indefinitely. ------------------------------------------------------------ Let's hope Take- 2 can restructure the game and it comes out as I would not want to see it get "canned" like "Thrill Kill" did when EA took over the developer.
  22. They're back on the site of the ride and they seem to be chasing each other. This was the scene in May 07
  23. Console-makers confirm policies preventing licensed third parties from releasing Adults Only games on their systems, effectively banning the Rockstar title. When Take-Two Interactive yesterday confirmed that the Entertainment Software Rating Board handed down a rating of AO for Adults Only for Rockstar Games' Manhunt 2 on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo Wii, the publisher said it was exploring its options. GameSpot has confirmed with Nintendo and Sony that one of those options, which would be to accept the ESRB's judgment and release the game with the AO rating, isn't an option at all. Both companies forbid licensed third-party publishers from releasing games rated AO for Adults Only on their various hardware platforms. Though Manhunt 2 isn't slated for any of Microsoft's systems, the company has also confirmed that it does not allow AO-rated titles on the Xbox or Xbox 360. The sole exception to this rule was in 2005 when the already released Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was retroactively rated AO, at which point retailers pulled it from shelves and Take-Two suspended production of the game. "It's currently our policy not to allow the playback of AO-rated content on our systems," a Sony spokesperson told GameSpot. Nintendo's official line was much the same. "Games made for Nintendo systems enjoy a broad variety of styles, genres, and ratings," a representative told GameSpot. "These are some of the reasons our Wii and Nintendo DS systems appeal to such a broad range of people. But as with books, television, and movies, different content is meant for different audiences. That's why the ESRB provides ratings to help consumers understand the content of a game before they purchase it. As stated on Nintendo.com, Nintendo does not allow any AO-rated content on its systems." Take-Two's most readily available alternatives are to appeal the ESRB's AO rating or to modify the game. As of press time, a Rockstar Games representative had not responded to GameSpot's inquiry about how either move would impact the game's scheduled July 10 release date. -----------------------------------------------------------
