Psh. I'd buy a parcel of land, open an awesome coaster and possibly a restaurant near a popular place with no other theme park competition, and slowly build up the park from there.

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
swampfox replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So with all the hubbub raised about a coaster being too loud for the old Drachen Fire area of BGE, I had this idea last night. That Drachen Fire area is quite big, and I believe Busch Gardens has a bit of expansion room. I think it'd be a smart idea for them to make a Switzerland area out of the old Drachen Fire area. They could make a mountain range sort of encasing the whole area. Wouldn't have to be too tall. Don't want em to mess with the buildings in Big Bad Wolf after all. Maybe put in a few flats in the middle area. Busch Gardens definitely needs them. After a year or two, the could put in a coaster in and around the mountain range! Perhaps a nice flying coaster with near misses of mountain peaks, or a wooden coaster that wouldn't be noisy. How? By placing it on the inside of the mountain range and on the park side if it goes out of the range. Noise reduction so that the pompous golf club or whatever can enjoy watching the grass grow in peace. Any other ideas, or thoughts on my own ideas? -
Plan of attack for SFOG on a Saturday in July?
swampfox replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Would this be fourth of July weekend or later in the month, because I can tell ya that the 4th of July weekend... Well... all I can offer you is a prayer. If it's not, I'd suggest hitting up Goliath first thing and last thing of the day, or head over to Superman first while everyone else heads to Goliath, and while they still wait in line for that, you could finish Superman, and head over to Deja Vu, Batman and Mindbender. -

I think it's time the world just had a big smack across the backside, and was told it could have no more TV for a year. The world has just become one big spoiled brat. -

Yeah, there's some odd independent movie from the late 90s that I haven't seen. Looks like a drama. The one I'm talking about is a suspense movie that came out in 1977 or 78 and stars George Segal.

Maverick's Kooky Warning Sign
swampfox replied to HogarthOK's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Eeeeerrrmmm...no. If it was because of magnets, they'd have to prohibit every belt, every riveted pair of jeans, every pair of sneakers (most eyelets are made of metal), etc. Riding naked... Interesting idea. -

When Flight of Fear first opened at Kings Dominion, they had the same rule. A few years later, after the hype died down about the ride, they got rid of the rule. It was before they took away the shoulder harnesses. It's probably just being extra careful til they know how people react to the ride. -
Yeah, KECO made some great parks originally. I love how Magic Mountain looked in Rollercoaster as well, and in a Kidsongs vid I had when I was 4 back in like 1989. Also looked good in National Lampoon's Vacation. I wonder how Hersheypark looked in the 70s/80s. Seems that's one park that is better now than it used to be.

Kings Dominion also looked much better in the seventies. Just watch the movie Rollercoaster, and it show's Kings Dominion in it's 2nd or 3rd year of operation. (I find it hilarious that they gave away cigarette cartons as prizes for games) Here's a site with old Kings Dominion pics for y'all to check out. http://community.webshots.com/album/419637432CUOxsq/14

I like Dario Argento films. Suspiria, Inferno, Tenaebre, Profondo Rosso... Mario Bava is good too. Twitch of The Death Nerve, Baron Blood, Shock, Black Sunday, Black Sabbath. George Romero's scariest is a little known film called Martin. It's amazing. Very different. The dead series is also amazing. Lucio Fulci's The Beyond is awesome. Others worthy of comment... Jacob's Ladder, Willard (70s version), Nightmare on Elm Street and New Nightmare, The Exorcist 1 and 3, The Haunting (1960s), Ju-On, Ringu, The Eye, The Shining, Nosferatu, and Salem's Lot (70s).

I know how that feels. I usually smoke the most during exam time, or start smoking again during that time. When I'm stressed.

I tried Amtrak.com. The way they explained things, it seemed like the person who buys the ticket has to pick it up. I won't be there to do so. If you use the kiosk system, you need a credit card, which my friend doesn't have, and if he did, the credit card wouldn't work, as it's in his name, not me, the ticket buyer's.

Thanks. Was a bit worried. Some companies are anal about such things.

Sometimes they do. I remember reading about someone put in jail over 10 years earlier for child molestation, and they were released and given some money for compensation after the former kid said they were bullied into giving false testimony against the man by the police or something like that.

I think CPers have it easy with Mantis. I ride Shockwave whenever I go to Kings Dominion, which means a ball-bashing, blackout after the loop, herky-jerky at the end, ride. Literally, I've blacked out on Shockwave so that I didn't get my sight back until halfway through the double helix. I plan to ride Mantis this summer, so that I can no longer sound like I'm talking from my a$$.

Recently The Grizzly at Kings Dominion has been being trashed on another board I'm on. Still is a great ride to me. I also think SooperDooperLooper at Hersheypark gets overlooked, as well as my namesake, The Swamp Fox at Family Kingdom.
