  1. I loved Dollywood's as well. Carowinds used to have a nice one, but I haven't liked it since they took out the cave at the end. A long time ago that cave used to have a sheet of water that came down right in front of the boat.
  2. I'd have to say Six Flags Great Adventure, but then again I haven't been since 1997, and back then, they really didn't have much to brag about... Nice log flume though.
  3. Alright, I did the TPR search and could find no subject on this, though there probably was one..... I'll risk it. What is your favorite rapids ride out of all the parks you've been to? I know some people like the best themed, some like the wettest, and some like the ones that leave them bone dry... My favorite would have to be Kings Dominion's when they actually have the last part of the ride working properly. My least favorite was Six Flags Great Adventure's.
  4. Anyone else think that they may just gut the park like they did to Geauga Lake sometime in the future? I mean, it just has got me thinkin'. But of course, I think GA gets a lot of attendance though, so maybe not.
  5. Great TR so far. I miss Hersheypark. Haven't been since 2003.
  6. Damn cell phone alarm clock decides it's gonna fail on the day I have to get up at 8:30 for work. Sound was set to high, and the alarm was set to on for the AM time, and I wake up an hour after I'm supposed to be at work.... the alarm is going off, but with no sound. I test it to see if it's truly broken, and it works this time. Imagine that...
  7. A National Acrobat - Black Sabbath
  8. Since I've Been Loving You - Led Zeppelin
  9. Ok. No prob. Robb. Sorry if it seemed forceful. Didn't mean it to be. I'm just generally longwinded. I'll stop now.
  10. ^^ I don't see myself waxing sentimental.... I haven't seen myself say it was a great park, or that it had great rides. I see myself saying it's sad to see any park go. I went to the Pavilion in SC last year before it closed. It wasn't a good park. The Hurricane was one of the most painful coasters I've been on, but I rode it twice... Because I liked it despite the pain. (Maybe a bit of a masochistic urge) But the park was well past it's prime. But I was sad to see it go, because if it makes one person's day enjoyable, which it seemed to do to many people the day I was there, then there's at least a bit of quality still left. Over 2 million people in 2002 at Geauga Lake... I'm sure some of them left the park happy. I'm sure some left happy this past year, the few that went. Just because a park is dreadful to me doesn't mean it should be scrapped. I could really care less that Geauga Lake is closed personally, but I do feel for the people that went there for years. It's like losing a bit of your past. It's not fun. Good and bad are relative terms. I've seen people say they love the Big Dipper and most here say they want it gone. Same about Villain. What's good for you is not necessarily good for others is I guess what I'm saying. Just that some neutrality would be nice. People sometimes seem to enjoy watching others suffer, though I guess, but I'm not saying you do... Just some people here, there, and everywhere. GL fans seem to love hating on CP too, which I don't understand. To me, all parks have some worth.
  11. I just heard this news today as I was gone Friday and Saturday. I read through all the replies to this, and I must ask... were some of you bullies in high school? I've read things like "I'm glad the park is gone", "send the wooden coasters to the scrap-pile" and that it's no big loss. Well, I've never been there but... To some people the place was important, some people had a lot of good memories of the place, and some people are sad to see it go. But I guess no one matters but yourself. I know these are opinions, but the way they are written, they seem like you're laughing at the people who desperately wanted this park to work. I have fond memories of Kings Dominion from the late 80s and early/mid 90s. It's not as good a park anymore, in fact I'd say it's near dreadful, but I wouldn't want it torn down, just because sometimes I go just to jog memories of the park's past or of my childhood. I find it kinda sad that a park that was, I believe 100 years old or older is now to be gone without any farewell. It's even more sad that many people want to see most wooden coasters sent to the scrap heap, and I am not exaggerating, at least not on purpose. I've heard that the Grizzly (GA and KD) is horrible, that Mean Streak is horrible, that Thunder Road is horrible, Big Dipper is horrible, Comet (HP) is horrible... I mean, my God it sounds sometimes like if it's not made by a specific company, or not at Holiday World, and it's wooden, it shouldn't exist. Yeah, this pissed off comment from me has been building up for a while. I just really start to feel depressed about the future of humanity when I read such selfish comments on every single message board.
  12. Thunderwing by T. Rex
  13. As a movie reviewer for a podcast, I go to 2 or 3 movies a week. My genres of preference are horror, thrillers, sci-fi, adventure and fantasy. So I see a lot of movies where people should be reacting. Maybe it's just this city. Also, I see that JP is leading Jaws, two to one. Keep em comin'. It's interesting that Jaws was ahead in the beginning to be so fully overshot by Jurassic Park. Although I'm wondering if that's due to the theme park nature of the board... Maybe I should have put Jaws 3 against Jurassic Park. haha j/k
  14. Hmm. I'd have to say the Picadilly Circus wreck in American Werewolf In London.
  15. Lay Down Sally - Eric Clapton
  16. Any news stations on cable should stop calling themselves news besides Headline News, as most of their programs are simply Op/Ed programs/news magazine programs like Nightline that give out hearsay as news or give news stories in the slant of a liberal or conservative. Nancy Grace, Bill O'Reilly, Paula Zahn, Chris Matthews, all of em. They exist to cause a scene, and that is all. You want news, read the Associated Press. TV is for entertainment, and the internet is too cluttered with fakery. As for the accident, which is what this thread is about, I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it, and the mass public, minus those who frequent SFKK will forget about it in a week.
  17. Haha. I almost forgot one of my favorite parts of it. If the queue is part wooden, most of the time people have probably etched stuff into the wood. It's like a cleaner version of a public toilet stall. Sometimes you see interesting things written. I think my favorite place to read is White Water Canyon at KD.

  19. I'm finally reading Lincoln Child's Utopia. Also reading Hotel New Hampshire by John Irving.
  20. I don't know why, but I just can't get the ride and leave mentality. I do that sometimes at parks I go to like all the time, but I'd rather spend a whole day and take it all in. Otherwise I would just start taking speed. Same feeling I would suppose. Of course, I also don't really care for going to parks alone unless I'm specifically in the mood for it. For people who love parks, seems like some of you want to leave them as soon as possible.
  21. Weeds season 1 DVD set - $20.99 with tax included.
  22. Wow! I go out of town and one of my topics thrives! I can understand not wanting to wait over an hour or 2, and I guess everyone is different. Some people like theming/soaking up the feel of parks, and others just go to ride... and as much as they can. I belong to the first camp. I guess I'm more of a laid back person at parks.
  23. ^^ It was, but Ozzy said on Howard Stern that he told her beforehand not to invite them because "Bruce is trouble." I'm a Maiden fanboy, so things like that tick me off even if Bruce did cause trouble.
  24. I was doing my hourly park board reading, and I noticed a lot of enthusiasts like empty midways, no lines, and pretty much empty parks. I like em like that at night, but why would anyone want an empty park? I'd think it'd be horrible for park revenue and that it takes away from the experience. Growing up in the 90s I remember going to Kings Dominion with friends and actually enjoying waiting in line. I still do if I have someone to talk to. It gives me time to take in the park atmosphere and makes it feel less like I'm rushing my day. Am I the only person who finds this park necessity to be sometimes an enjoyable thing? You can peoplewatch too. When I went to Disney World for my second time back in 2000, it didn't feel as magical as the first time, partly due to me being 15 instead of 10, but also because I felt like I was rushing with those Fastpass things. I felt like I was marathoning, and I didn't get to take in my surroundings and feel the magic so to speak. At any rate, I just wanted to know if anyone else actually likes waiting in lines sometimes, and seeing full queues.
  25. After what they did to Iron Maiden, I'll do anything NOT to support Ozzy. Since it's free, maybe I'll go throw some eggs at him.
