Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
downunder replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm kind of used to it, the only reason I would go to Magic Mountain would be to ride X and it is down every time I go, at least Cedar Point has some other great coasters I would go there just to ride. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
downunder replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It will be interesting to see whether: a) the heartline is removed and replaced with something else altogether b) the heartline is modified to reduce the forces c) the track and/or welds were faullty and is being replaced I guess we don't know yet, but I reckon (B) myself, I guess we will know by June if not sooner. I hope CP Resorts allows people to cancel reservations without penalty, and takes some measures to make up for this. It's a shame, that element really looked killer to me, and maybe it was a killer, hitting the heartline at 70mph would be intense. -
SFGAdv Rise & Scream questions

I've used a SFNE Season Pass for Passholders ERT at Great Adventure in the past with no problem, if you are really want to be sure you could contact the park. -
La Ronde Discussion Thread
downunder replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFGam Shock Wave, thank for the list of qbot rides for Great America I couldn't find that on the website the last time I checked. I wonder if Six Flags will implement this newer system at their other parks? I have to admit it makes very easy to reserve the the popular rides you don't even have to walk to the ride, so it may increase qbot traffic at the more popular rides. -
La Ronde Discussion Thread
downunder replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It is also interesting that you can pre-purchase flash passes this year on the web. 3 new smoking areas at La Ronde - two years ago when I was there it seemed like the queues at La Ronde were smoking areas. The flash passes for Great America and La Ronde seem really cheap, ($20 for a regular single) compared to the parks that already had flash passes before this year, makes me wonder if there will be a very limited selection of rides available on flash pass at these parks, at least in the first year. -
Most Memorable Roller Coaster Ride?
downunder replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First Ride on Top Thrill Dragster August 2003 at approximately a quarter to midnight. -
Cedar Point's Getaway Guide 2007!
downunder replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They won't send the Getaway Guide to addresses outside US and Canada and the download version doesn't have the discount vouchers, which is what I am most interested in. -
Snoop Dogg - dopey pothead crap artist, and, ha ha, he just got refused a Visa for entry into Australia. Kanye West, why was he supporting U2 and making all us real music fans suffer, it was like the Spice Girls supporting Metallica in terms of appropriateness.

EL TORO vs. THE VOYAGE
downunder replied to imbordisux's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Glad you loved El Toro, I loved it so much I went SFGAdv twice in three days and usually I can't wait to get out of the place. El Toro and Ride of Steel (NE) are the only two coasters I could ride all day and not get sick of. -
The Simpsons come to Universal theme parks
downunder replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh yeah, I agree so much, you could build a whole themepark around the Simpson's. I loved the Duff Gardens episode and Itchy and Scratchy World is one of my total faves. -

Best Journey to Atlantis
downunder replied to coastercrazy216's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Out of Florida and San Diego, I disliked the Florida version the least. -
The Exorcist - still gives me nightmares. Halloween - great scary movie by a great film maker. Jaws- great film full of primordial fear. Day of the Dead - 1st two were great but this just builds until the excruciating finale. Dog Soldiers - absolutely kick a$$, The Howling meets Night of the Living Dead. Alien - # 2 was more action but this was pure horor. Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer - so incredibly disturbing. Suspiria - intense scary film.

I hear Watts has some wonderful academic institutions, and some great youth organisations like the Crips and the Bloods. I lived in the same area my whole life so I can appreciate how hard it would be for you, I hope it goes well. Oh, by the way I'm just kidding abou Watts, don't go there, ever - not even in your worst nightmare.

Warner Bros. Movie World Sci-Fi Night
downunder replied to rabid disney's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah Ian told me Billy Dee was drunk and obnoxious at this one too. Maybe he is just sick of people calling him Lando, just like the Evil Dead dude Bruce Campbell says he is sick of people calling him Ash. -

Vertical Zero: the Chili Peppers didn't do Love Rollercoaster. The Sound: what I meant was australia often claims to have the best of something in the southern hemisphere but the Sydney Olympics was the best olympics ever, northern or southern hemisphere. -
Favorite Coaster at Cedar Point?
downunder replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Top Thrill Dragster (#3 overall) - still a buzz, owns Kingda Ka 2. Millennium Force (#4 overall) - intense but could have had more air 3. Magnum XL-200 (#6 overall) - love that brutal bunny hop run 4. Raptor (#10 overall) 5. Gemini I love Cedar Point but after I rode Superman Ride of Steel at New England and El Toro, I felt like something was missing. -

Those chicks with the funny hats looked not bad at all, almost on par with Geri Ryan in whatever star trek she was in (yes, I am not a sci-fi geek). Billy Dee on the convention circuit, he could have been a contender, maybe he will be able to work his way back up to straight to video movies. Looked like it was fun, even with loads of sci-fi geeks around. -
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Acer Arena, Sydney. Left out a lot of oldies but they still rocked. Rocking Red Hot Chilis

It's so funny I have such little knowledge of flats, I don't even know what a lot of them are called. Astroland - it's amazing how far some of these rides have travelled. It was a huge carnival area, there must have been at least 50 rides.
