Headed to the Sydney Easter Show which is an agricultral show with a massive carnival with tons of rides, it give the cowpokes and the carnies an opportunity to hit the big smoke of Sydney. I was seeing the Red Hot Chilli Peppers at the arena next door that night, so I thought I may as well go to the easter show, I hadn't been in at least five years. The carnies don't even have to scam you at the easter show - $55 for 70 ride tokens with most rides being 6 or 7 tokens, ouch! And finally, the chilli peppers and they rocked! Har Mar Superstar (far right) supported the Chilli Peppers, it was like an ACEr doing karaoke in his briefs, he got booed off. Not quite the Vegas Circus Circus. The 2000 Olympic Stadium, Australia often likes to claim being the biggest and/or best in the southern hemisphere but we had the best olympics ever just ask Juan Antonio. Elissa's fave, the spinning mouse - this one was very tame; an "Elissa friendly" spinning coaster? So did this one. The gyro swing looked gnarly. Just don't spank the monkey's ok. The captain obvious award goes to... This drop tower had a seriously fast drop like 208 km/h (130mp/h). The Rainbow probably had the best airtime at the carnival. Taipan, the deadliest snake, the coaster maybe not so. The sign didn't say no snapping, so if it's ok... Barely kept it down on this one. Elvira, tits a lovely day. They seemed to have two of everything - Ghost trains, ferris wheels and so on. The carnival was like a Noah's Ark for flats. It was a bad a$$ zipper. This was no ordinary zipper... The king of upchuck rides. One of the dozens of major league vomit inducers at the carnival. The techno jump was actually a lot of fun. Still a credit, but I'm not that big a whore. Acer arena awaits the Red Hot Chilli Pepper's in the background. Looked behind me and they were already lining up for the mosh pit for the Chillis at 1pm. I very much doubted their claim. Gratuitous booby shot to start proceedings.

In spite of it's shortcomings - slow moving line, short ride, downtime; I thought X was an awesome coaster experience. I personally haven't experienced any noticeable roughness though I haven't ridden X since 2004 (I went to MM in 05 and 06 but it was closed).

Yeah running zombies have their pluses, it made the Dawn of the Dead remake fairly intense and of course 28 Days Later. I guess from an aesthetic point of view my personal preference is the old school shufflers, they are just creepier to me.
-
I liked 28 Days Later in a lot of the same ways as I would a zombie flick, though I still like Romero's Zombie flicks better, even Land of the Dead and I am waiting for Romero's new one Diary of the Dead. I will see 28 Weeks Later as soon as it comes which is something I don't do all that often, that and Grindhouse are the the only two in the near future I plan on actually bothering going to the movies to see - they won't be out for a while in Australia.
-
I saw the trailer for Grindhouse before 300 last week, it looks awesome, damn it doesn't come out in Australia until May 31. Is it just me, or Rose McGowan just so ridiculously hot.

Photo TR: Derek and Nicole do SF Great Adventure
downunder replied to DerekRx's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I'm only batting 1/3 for Kingda Ka being open, so that's impressive especially in such low teperatures. April / early May sounds like a good time to go to Great Adventure. -
Planet Terror, big fan of good zombie movies (of which they are few).

masked_maverick wrote I love that one, if only it was true, I think it would dramatically increase CP'a attendance.

April 1 has come and will soon be gone, any good jokes happen. I got totally sucked in by a story on news.com.au, where they reported that the drummer of the Pixies beat s*&t out of the lead singer of the Pet Shop Boys on stage at a festival in Australia and put him in hospital. I guess that one was something I wish would happen, te Pet Shop Boys suck.

Meteor at Little-A-Merrick-A
downunder replied to THE ONE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That spiral coaster looks bizarre, I am particularly interested in this park because it is my bet for what the bonus park will be on the way to Wisconsin Dells on mid west trip, I'm probably wrong but it's four credits if they finish Meteor. I have never been to a ghetto park unless you Magic Mounatin and Great Adventure in that category. -
Disney reads internet forums for info...

I really like Mythbusters, a show where you actually learn stuff as well as have fun, and that red-headed chick is hot.

Coach Murdered at the 2007 Cricket World Cup

And India (one of the favourites to win the world cup) are unlikely to make it out of the pool stage either barring a miracle. India's Australian coach Greg Chappell (one of Australia's greatest players) better not go back to India, they might burn him instead of an effigy this time. -

And us foreigners thought you americans were mad about sport... At the cricket world cup, currently being played in the Carribbean. After losing to minnow cricketing nation Ireland, Pakistan Coach Bob Woolmer was found dead in his hotel room the next morning. It has been revealed today that the autopsy shows he was strangled in the bath. Pakistan (and Indian) cricket fans have been known stone the houses of players, burn effigies of coaches, and kill themselves when their team loses. After the loss, back in Pakistan crowds were chanting death to the captain and the coach, looks like they got half their wish - very sad indeed. Though I don't think that the fans may have committed this crime - sub continent bookmakers are known to get quite shirty when results don't go their way.

Isn't the season pass processing centre open before the park opens for the season? If so, I would get my pass before opening day so you don't have to stuff around on opening day. I would get the Joe Cool add on as well because that gets you an hour ERT every day on rides like MF and Maverick. And if you are going to go for maverick first, go to the Marina Gate that would be closest to the ride. Living in Sandusky would be nice in summer, winter might not be everyone's cup of tea though.

How does Cedar Point's VIP program compare, isn't their one $250.00 as well with a guide etc? I wish they had a front of line pass on it's own at Cedar Fair, I guess the Gold q-bot is close to that at Six Flags. I'm always in the market for something to get on rides quicker because I have limited timecoming from a long way from the US, and if I can get done in one day what would take 3-4 days otherwise I have actually saved money when weighed up against the lessened accomodation and other expenses and I can cram more things into my itinerary.

Theme Park Review's 2007 Group Trips!
downunder replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think I stuffed up my paypal and might have come up around $2.50 short of the $1200.00 after fees, should I hold off sending more money until you are settled in with Kidtums? I have someone else who is considering going but they want to know if anyone is heading to Six Flags New England and Great Adventure after they could get together with. I'm not on the midwest board yet so I can't check.
