  1. All I can think of is: -Hypersonic -Kiddie Coaster at SFA (Then Adventure World) -High Speed Thrill Coaster -Laser I guess my list is short since I rode over half of all my credits for the first time last year.
  2. I think this is a good idea. I've ridden both Roller Soakers and liked them a lot. With Vekoma being a bigger company with a more proven track record, I think these things may start popping up a bit more frequently than the Roller Soakers did. And it is a good place for Vekoma to go, because it seems like their more family oriented creations are better than their extreme thrill attempts.
  3. I thought the problem with Flying Turns was that Pennsylvania safety regulations won't allow it to run....or something like that.
  4. Nice TR. The mini-golf course looks very well themed. Probably one of the best I've seen. I was just watching someone play skeeball on the Wii, and I wondered how long ago they originated. I thought in the 1950s, but I guess 30s and 40s qualify them as old. Sorry for the pointless post by the way
  5. In Knoebels defense, it seems like it is more of a problem with the state why Flying Turns isn't running yet. I don't know what to make of the move, but I'll be looking forward to going to Knoebels every year no matter what they add/don't add!
  6. I went to a mall and spent $160....I am not going for a while.
  7. Yea, I miss the seafood of Southern MD and the Eastern Shore.....a beach would be nice right now compared to 25 degree F high temps
  8. My dog was surprisingly named after a coaster. Her name is Zydeco, and I think we got her in March 2001, less than a year after Zydeco Scream opened at the then Jazzland. No one in my family was into coasters then. It was actual a very bad omen. She has behaved like a boomerang ever since!
  9. Before I get to the Cedar Point section of this TR (if I ever do), here is a video of the awesome "fire juggler" at Kennywood.
  10. I live in SC for 3 days every year....starting last year....
  11. I was thinking about going to Kings Island for some ERT and/or a Diamondback event, but I don't think it justifies becoming a "card-carrying member of an enthusiast group." Oh well.
  12. Phoenix or Maverick. Phoenix if it's ashy, Maverick if it's wild.
  13. SFAFan#1: I am with Brent that he did not mention race once. I also think it is perfectly fine to dislike a park based on clientele. I hate SFA and Cedar Point, and the visitors are certainly one of the problems. If you don't like the "regular crowd" at a bar, that's a perfectly good reason not to go, same thing with amusement parks. Honestly, you have to also take everything in this TR (and on this entire site) with a grain of salt. Satire is found in basically every update. All parks have been made fun of a bit, at least the way I am reading it. Other comments about the TR it self: I've been to the park 5 times and had half of a good day there. The coaster collection used to be REALLY good IMO. As long as you didn't expect perfection, SROS was awesome, Wild One was wild (that ride got me started liking wooden coasters), and JJ, TF, and BW were all good filler rides. I think SROS aged a whole lot last season, and Wild One hasn't been the same for a couple of years. I've ridden Joker's Jinx about 20 times, and have never had a bad ride. The part in the middle is slow, but it has ALWAYS started and ended very good. I have grown to not like SFA too. Perhaps since I live in the area I gave it more of a chance than I should have, visiting it each of the past three years. The $50 season pass, and two formerly great coasters a few miles up the road was good enough for me. I think SFA has dug themselves in a hole that will be very hard to get out of at this point. Who knows, maybe this "big announcement" will save the park? If a park the size of SFMM can turn it around, anyone can.
  14. If it was 60 degrees outside, I would gladly ride any water ride in the world.....naked. That's 40 degrees above the average high temperature!!!!
  15. I hope it is the same "carnival" model that Martin's Fantasy Island had. That is one of my favorite drop towers.
  16. I've only been to SFOT. I would choose Holiday World, simply because it has a few very high rated coasters. And as you can probably tell from my username, I like wooden coasters. If you are into waterparks, then Holliday World definitely wins. SFOT does have a Hurricane Harbor right beside it though. If you want to ride a lot of coasters and rides, SFOT should be your choice. The only reason I would pick Valleyfair is if you really like GCIs. I will admit Renegade looks sick.
  17. Here are a few more pictures from a couple of weeks later, and with better lighting. I apologize for the graininess of the pictures. I had a pretty pour camera at the time, which SROS at SFNE actually messed up and the LCD display didn't even work. Also, I want to point out that in reading the first part of the TR, it was written in a very grumpy-ish tone. I want to point out that I actually love the town. I only have lived there four months, and it feels more like my home than my actual home does. It is just very old, economically depressed, and kind of easy to poke fun at. Yea I like this place...can't wait for next fall. Cool, fall, mountain air...I love it. Rocks and leaves Back to the trail Grainy pic of the sunset on top of "the hill" at my school. This is a pic from on the campus....the arboretum. Yea, that's the only fish I've caught there...and I'm not a bad fisherman either. There are not many views like that in southern Maryland. The pan-handle is where it's at! There's me doing my second favorite hobby. You would think there would be a lot of fish in that lake. I have fished there about five times, and caught one, which will be pictured later in this update... Another nice place in Western MD is Rocky Gap State Park. They have this big lake, 2 restaurants, lodging, a "beach," and a golf course.
  18. Yes, there is a train that does tours from Cumberland to Frostburg, and back to Cumberland. As Dan said, the "Western Maryland Scenic Railroad." In the fall, they run trains there every day, and I think they run on weekends year round. It is something to see, when dozens of tourists climb up that hill and come up to the usually deserted main street.
  19. Idlewild/Lakemont/DelGrosso's- 1-1.5 hours Kennywood- 2 hours
  20. Yea thanks for bringing this topic up. Now that I have some free time I may remember to post some better pictures when the leaves look real nice. And then I'll get some when there's a foot of snow on the ground!
  21. $1.74 in southern Maryland and Western Maryland. Though it is in the $1.50 range somewhere in between.
