  1. Sounds like a great idea...except for the part where inversions are allowed. With the whole SOB ordeal, Cedar Fair would do everything possible to distance themselves from the problems with that when building a new ride, the loop being one of them.
  2. We still do, and not just for single riders, but for groups of two also. On Mind Eraser, rapid ride/VIP groups often cause problems with groups of people riding in separate rows because when one of their rows become occupied by the VIP's, the family/group decides to all wait to ride together and leave empty rows. Quite often there will be a long line for the front and empty for rows behind because others in line don't notice the spots. In all cases, I call out for all rows to be filled and invite groups of one or two to ride in them. That can also improve someone's day at the park by being brought to the front of the line to sit in an empty row and reduce their time in line. We try to fill empty rows on popular rides like Ghost Blasters where there are 2 rows in a car, which the only problem I have ever seen is couples wanting a car to themselves, however guests in line have always seemed okay with this even if someone is being brought from the back of a long line.
  3. While I disagree with the outcome of the case and don't feel the least sorry for the "victims" of this, I do feel that the park's decision to settle was in their best interest. The liberal media would have torn the park to pieces and given it a reputation which they could never recover from if they at least didn't fake a "sorry for what happened" even though they were not at fault. If anyone from the park (or anyone else who could see beyond the tragedy and realize these kids were the ones who killed their friend) had been interviewed to explain the truth of the whole situation, the park would appear as nothing more than a heartless greedy corporation who doesn't care about humanity and wants your children dead. Fortunately, the park is still around and the slide which this occurred on still exists under a new name. One more thing, that $4 million settlement is almost nothing compared to the massive amounts of money spent by Premier Parks on huge coasters at their other parks during that same time period.
  4. Looks like you really love those Common Oak Trees.
  5. ©2002 ...Fail As for the differences between Shockwave and GASM, Shockwave's second and third loops go to the left and GAMS's go to the right. I believe this was changed for GASM for a smoother transition to the MCBR.
  6. Be sure every one of the scenery group tabs has at least one object in them.
  7. Some questions. Where do you go to college at? What kind of people are there? What would this club do other than have members who are interested in coasters? No offense, but unless this is an engineering school or something, you will probably come across as a complete geek. At my college, which also doesn't have a coaster club, I took the opportunity to break out of my coaster shell that I had lived in for so many years by joining the ski club and have been having a great time in it. Colleges generally look for clubs that offer some kind of regular activity, so unless you are organizing theme park trips every month or going above and beyond in some way other than just meeting to discuss the latest coaster news, what rides you like and so on, then the school probably won't support it.
  8. Only in Petaluma would something as ridiculous as this happen. Having lived there until I was 18, I have been to this fair many years and ridden probably that same Wacky Worm numerous times. If this guy was doing this just to get some money, he's right down there at the bottom of society with the Wendy's finger in the chili woman.
  9. Although the ride would be a better fit for a redevelopment of the closed Old Country area (wasn't there rumored to be a B&M dive machine going there a while ago?), replacing GASM with it isn't so bad. The ride was not terrible, but definitely nothing special. When I rode it two years ago it was like SFMM's Viper on a bad day, and even then it was better than I was expecting considering how terrible I heard so many people say it is. At least now we can end the conversion to floorless trains debate since the park already has Bizarro, unless Six Flags wants to catch all us enthusiasts off guard by installing two floorless coasters in one park. I would honestly not be surprised if they did do that though.
  10. Whenever it happens, it will look something like this. Before, I always wondered what this track type would look like mangled from demolition. http://www.themeparkreview.com/sfmmdvdparty/dvdparty64.jpg
  11. The 3rd. That was a while ago. I can't recall which ride I was at, but I was definitely there...probably Ghost Blasters. There's quite a few more rides opened up now than were when you were there. Glad to see you're not entirely negative about the park now.
  12. What date were you at the park? I might have been one of your ride operators.
  13. It's funny how this keeps getting bumped randomly over the years. Since you brought it up, here's an album (not mine though) with a bunch of great pictures from around the park and slides found from searching again today. V-Max looked like an awesome slide.
  14. Mastersax68 and GriffyTiffy, here you go. 1KBULSRC.DAT SKEEBALL.DAT
  15. The problem is obvious here. In your picture, you have the entirety of the B&M loop track raised - meaning you are lowering both ends of the merge onto the Arrow track and that is why the merge does not work. You need to lower the Arrow track going into the loop onto the B&M track and the B&M track onto the Arrow track exiting the loop. So wherever the train is coming from is the track that needs to be lowered on the merge. That should fix your problem.
  16. The reason for this is the game images for certain trains do not include angles they were not meant to go on, like why a looping coaster train will look strange when it goes through a corkscrew or something. You would have to edit the original ride data file to fix this and is not recommended. They can still travel over track they are not supposed to, but the train will not look pretty when it does. There's no way to fix this without completely editing the game, in the case that someone did, it's best to just make it an entirely new ride type, much like ja227 did when he made the giga-loooper Stormrunner trains. I do know that there is a new modern spinning coaster in the works at NE that can do banked turns, etc. I doubt it will be done anytime soon if at all though. The closest thing we have is the RCT1 spinning cars converted and should be released later this summer with the park they are featured in.
  17. ^Boulder is a much shorter drive to Denver than Fort Collins ya know... Also, you're 14 and touring colleges already? Damn
  18. Yes it can be re-installed later if you uninstall it. I've done that a few times for various reasons (new computer, reformatting my hard drive). Just be sure to make a backup copy of the install file and the reg key / username.
  19. That would require hex editing to do so. You would probably also need a second station for that since it would essentially be two rides on top of each other. Read more about how to do that here. http://forums.nedesigns.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=15954&view=findpost&p=351197 The same basic concept is used, only with one of the tracks for one drop and another track for the other side of the drop. After making one of them invisible, build a third track so the drop is back and then lower it onto the invisible drop. Hex editing is pretty tricky even for expert RCT2 players, so I'd recommend just building the second drop chute and having it closed off.
  20. A queue/exit path bridge over the main path connecting to the rapids on the other side would be nice. Kind of like what X2 has.
  21. When I was in 6th grade, our school and many more around the area would all gather at the Windsor Waterworks in Northern California. It was a popular destination for elementary and school groups around that time of the year. I remember the park being so packed with kids that one could barely move and the lines for the slides were more like small mosh pits. The pool was a death trap for anyone who couldn't swim since it was pretty deep and they could easily go unnoticed by the lifeguards with that many people. And it eventually proved to be when a 12 year old boy drowned in that pool because his parents had trusted the school to supervise him since he didn't know how to swim. As far as I know, schools at least in the district where I used to live no longer do massive combined pool parties anymore, but that be due to the fact that the waterpark closed down for good at the end of the year for several reasons relating back to that drowning. Not that all their parents should be there to supervise their kids at school parties, but with that many people and as little supervision as that park had, it was only a matter of time. Not really sure what schools do now since I was in 8th grade when it happened and high school after that never did any trips, but the parties of this time of year are probably much smaller and in safer environments for relatively unsupervised kids that age. Side tracked a bit, but just an example to show that unsupervised kids even a few years older than 10 is a bad idea at a waterpark. In addition, there were always fights and injuries from falling on the wet concrete.
  22. At least they put a fence around those closed slides. Two years ago, they were right out there in the open with the disgusting half drained pool and everything for guests to easily see. They did the same with fencing off Flying Coaster at Elitch's which has been closed as long as these slides have. Surprisingly, it's almost a forgotten attraction which many don't even know exists despite being right on the parking lot, so I can assume that will probably be the case with these slides too. Hopefully the new 2011 attraction will replace these slides since the area is big enough for something big, and the park won't look as run down as before. I enjoyed your trip reports.
