  1. Dude, no need to stress about not updating every several days or so. Life exists outside RCT2 and nobody should care if they have to wait more than a couple days for an update. I often go about a month or more between updates when I have a project going with only one or two screens per update. Looks good so far and I definitely see improvement from your earlier work here. Keep it up.
  2. ^Because Flying Coaster was a prototype. Inevitably, the problems with this ride led it being shut down in the first place. Newer models were more refined and operate more smoothly. Chances are, they will just bring Flying Coaster up to current standards. Thank god they are taking back the ride for Luna Park to get it off our hands here.
  3. Time to plan a trip out there. Great use of the old extended Batman queue for Green Lantern instead of removing anything like Tidal Wave for this. Not sure how it will look having two coasters of exactly the same colors next to each other, but it certainly fits the theme of the area best. Looks like this is 2001 all over again with 3 new coasters that will make this the xtreme park once again. I wonder if Superman will somehow manage to have both sides launch at once after the revamp though.
  4. Once again, great pictures. I would have liked to see more of Wildebeest and the other major rides though. Too bad the Timberliners were not on yet. I haven't been following them, but are they on now, or are the PTC's still in service?
  5. Never going to happen. I haven't touched this park in over a year and I don't plan to build any more on this. Check NE for screens of a new project of mine in the upcoming months if you're interested though.
  6. Great pictures man! Nice to see you finally found some time to get this started. I'll be following this closely. I'm looking forward to your reports of our days at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Kings Dominion especially!
  7. No expansion packs required, and all the custom objects export automatically.
  8. Neat concept here. I'll add this. Woodfall Park, Indianola, Iowa, USA
  9. It's been a while since I posted anything over here, but here is my latest project - Woodfall Park. This was released as a silver accolade over at New Element back in July, so it is not exactly new. Better late than never, right? Anyways, this is a realistic Cedar Fair park featuring eight roller coasters and a full scale water park. Highlights include the Morgan hyper "Steel Mamba," the B&M invert "War Bird," CGI "Stampede," and the new for 2010 Intamin mega-lite "Firestormer." Soak City, the adjacent water park with free with park admission features 17 water slides, Castaway Bay wave pool, lazy river, and several children's play areas. 10. Are you serious!? Sure, Elitch's may look ghetto, but the Lakeside pictures did not show all the old abandoned buildings, abandoned rides, and the condition of the current rides. Whereas Elitch's has a few old structures that are no more than 15 years old and the only ghetto part is the abandoned Flying Coaster area. The park drew huge crowds this summer when I was working there and they have made many improvements to fix it up and make the park look nicer than it used to be. And I stand by Jordan's Mind Eraser comment. At opening there is a stampede over to it and people are okay with waiting upwards of 2 to 3 hours even when closed for lightning just to be able to ride it once. It's like what we would do for something like a world class Intamin or B&M...I could go on. As long as Mind Eraser is the park's signature coaster, the park don't seem to be in any hurry to add a new coaster anytime soon.
  11. Looks like a taller version of Chance-Morgan's Aviator ride. Even though it might not be physically intense, the feeling of being so high up and open sounds quite fun. Dragon Wing at Elitch's is only 1/3 of this height and much more confined in the restraints and that is still a great ride for even just the view, so this sounds awesome. Bonus points for not significantly changing the park's already busy skyline by replacing Sky Cabin!
  12. That's really too bad, especially when waiting for the front. We waited two hours for that (not worth that wait at all when the back gives a much better ride in my opinion). Not to mention most of the queue has no shade whatsoever so queuing can be quite unpleasant. Given the fact that they switched the trains, it probably has something to do with reducing maintenance like you said, however creating a huge line to show how awesome the ride is wouldn't surprise me at all. You would think they would want to cycle people through as quickly as possible to give them a better day at the park (and give them more time to spend money in the shops and on food). Thanks for the insight.
  13. I was there that day too and spent most of my time there in the water park because it was too hot for standing in line for coasters. Good thing we rode everything the previous day. With another day of one train operation on Intimidator, I was not about to stand in line later in the day after riding it in the morning. Just one question, does anyone know why they were running only one train? The previous day they were running the red train and the next day they switched over to the silver train. This does not make sense being the biggest newest ride in the park, especially when they ran two on Shockwave, one of the least popular in the park.
  14. Why don't you wait until you have actually have something to show, instead of ground textures showing where it all will go?
  15. Just rode these for the first time several days ago. Nightslider is awesome, but doesn't really stand out from the experiences of other speed slides other than being enclosed the whole time. Now Power Plunge, is an insane one. Longest most powerful body slide I have ever ridden. Almost too intense for re-riding. Lost River is also worth mentioning. The Egyptian theming is just as elaborate and is complete with Indiana Jones theme music!
  16. This isn't just limited to Dorney. Every decent sized park in the country I've been too seems to have this problem and I'm sure most others do too.
  17. Just because it has a slight inclined uphill turnaround does not make it a looping waterslide. As Robb said in the amazing waterslides thread, it's nowhere near as steep as the ones overseas. Still looks like it had a huge line compared to the speed slide next to it, which I would be riding more instead.
  18. ^^ cfc is right, it was an older man that supposedly freaked out on Shockwave. The accident was in 1999. Yeah stupidity is what causes the vast majority of all ride accidents. A man squeezed his way out of the Rainbow ride and at Elitch Gardens a few years back. That ride is now permanently shut down, but I think it was because of a similar accident on another ride more recently. GCA's Drop Zone had that accident with the kid who freaked out at the top and got out. When I was younger and went there with my parents, my mom actually forbade me to ride it because she thought it was dangerous since the accident was still quite recent. Damn the media for their slanderous reporting. Anyways, enough with the rant. Question for the KD locals - has Shockwave been operating regularly lately? It was closed when I went two years ago and I'll be back in a few weeks for I305. Hoping to get that credit as well this time.
  19. ^Try living in Colorado where the most popular coaster is a Vekoma SLC. I hate it when people who live near huge parks complain like this that theirs isn't good enough. Just because the park has removed many coasters, doesn't mean it is bad. Lightning Loops had that accident that most likely drew terrible publicity for it, not to mention half of it was closed for 5 years before they replaced it with a world class B&M invert Batman. Shockwave was part of a ride rotation that ended up at Astroworld until that park closed. Viper, I heard, was a really painful coaster and despite being a coaster rarity, it wasn't worth keeping open when nobody rode it. Look how popular El Toro is since they replaced Viper with that. As for GASM, I understand there is history behind it, but for all we know, there could be problems deeper down with the ride that we don't know about. Perhaps structural problems that were improved just enough from SFGAm's Shockwave design to help GASM last the 8 years longer before finally wearing out. It probably could have lasted longer, but this is almost like Viper all over again. History won't save a ride when ridership reaches low enough. I'm sure whatever the replacement is, will be easier on maintenance since unlike Arrow, B&M is still around for parts replacement, and ridership will be higher because a flashy new coaster appeals to guests more than an older painful one. Also, it's not so easy to just put up a bunch of flats, and maintain older coasters and add theming. They tried adding all those flats in the late 90's, and most of them are now gone for one reason or another. Rides are expensive to maintain, and the cost to repair older coasters to keep them around when the general public won't know about the repairs and still chose not to ride it is not economical. GADV isn't the only park taking down coasters...Magic Mountain, as you said was #1, has taken down two coasters in the past few years. As for theming, its Six Flags - don't expect Disney or Busch quality anytime soon. And no, the financial crisis was not caused by fans who are not getting what they want not going. Fans make up a very small portion of the market for parks, season pass sales are far from the main source of park revenue, so even if you did go, they wouldn't make money unless you buy food, souvenirs, and play games in the park too. It's a much deeper problem, I can assure you that.
  20. Stealing money from a little girl, wow, this is arguably a new low for society. What a cowardly move on the part of those degenerate teens.
  21. You don't need to use a bunch of heartline coasters. Just use a regular coaster (I use a wooden coaster) and just change the track type in 8cars to "{Standard/Reversed} Heartline Twister Roller Coaster" when you've lined it up with the parts you want covered. Be sure to delete all turns first, otherwise an error trapper will result. You get all the ride netting with only one ride space used.
  22. Install the RCT2 No-CD patch. Then you don't need to use a broken disc. If the problem persists, then it's something deeper in the game like maybe a corrupt data file.
