  1. Happy Birthday! I hope you are celebrating it well!
  2. ^^I have never understood this mentality. There are several coasters in this world that actually do sit directly on the ground, usually just having a single footer attached directly to the track spine. This is just one of the many restrictions between real-life and RCT. I personally have no problem with seeing track on the ground. In fact, in some cases, the rides look better without supports than with the in-game generated supports. Anyways, I think this project is looking pretty good so far, and I'm interested in what deviations you take away from the park.
  3. Actually, the last time I was down there, I stayed in a hotel that was basically ON the school's campus. It is as close as it seems, and I'm sure that Shiekra and Kumba are pretty well visible from a few areas around the campus. If it were me in your shoes choosing between here and Portland State, I would definitely be going here.
  4. ^That would be Tiger. I don't really understand why so many people think Gwazi is really rough. When I was there in 07, it was running pretty smooth compared to most wooden coasters. Anyways, I've been loving this TR. It's been getting me a little extra hyped for my trip back to Orlando in May. Thanks for all the great pictures!
  5. I'm in right now if anyone is interested in chatting.
  6. This thing looks exactly like KMG's Freakout. Is there no creativity left in the flat ride market? Well, one good thing can be said from this. This means that there will be more of these awesome rides in the world! Here's to hoping a few midway groups pick up some of these for some fairs in the US.
  7. I am really loving everything about this new forums. I just have one idea for an improvement though. Can we get a larger selection of font colors in the chat? A few of the colors are very hard to read, so those can't really be used and when there's a lot of people in chat you can run out of colors to separate yourself from others so conversations can get very confusing. It's just a suggestion.
  8. When it comes to backyard rides, you can't forget this beauty.
  9. Something weird just popped up for me. For some reason that I do not know, this forum leaves empty pages in topics. I have a picture to show you this. Blank page with no posts.
  10. I'm going to have to say number 1 for simplicity and realism. Number 2 is too much and just isn't very attractive, same goes for number 3. Number 3 is just a mess and sticks out like a sore thumb in comparison to the rest of your park. Number 1 all the way.
  11. ^Oh man, I completely forgot about that one! Seriously though, I think this change is needed. I mean I love Corkscrew Hill and all, but it's become a little dated, and it's not particularly up to the "classic" status. If King Arthur had actually stuck around though, then there might have been a few more problems with this change.
  12. Wow, if you wrote this then great job! Seriously as a ride op myself, I think you hit the nail square on the head. It makes me want to print this off and take it in to General Certification with me to allow for the starting operators to read it. Although some parts of it sound as if you're trying to deter one away from operating, the rest is gold.
  13. Great pictures, they make me not want to wait for May and my trip down here again. I just have one question, did you happen to stay at the Homewood Suites? That's where I stayed the last time I went to Universal, and that looks like the same view I had from the parking lot. I loved being able to just walk to Universal in the mornings.
  14. 13/20 I'm so sad, I normally do better than this.
  15. I have called security to come pick up lost articles. One time I got close to having to call security on one seemingly psychotic kid, but I got him to leave before I had to call them. I was working dodgems, Carowinds bumper cars, and he was about 2 inches too short to ride. When I turned him away he went insane. He started screaming wildly, running in circles and kicking and punching the railings and trashcans. He was severly scaring the other guests waiting in line. I went up to the kid and told him, "Either calm down, or I will have to call security here to do it for me." After that he went running crying back to his parents.
  16. ^Well, we aren't hearing the entire train in the video. If it was a back seat pov and we were hearing the exact same sound, then it might very well could be something else. Seeing as this video was recorded from the front seat with the camera and the camera's mic pointed forward, most all of the sounds coming from behind the camera won't be picked up. If there is an offride video of the train going through the first drop with good audio, then maybe we could determine more from that, but as it stands, I am staying by my original thought.
  17. The sound on Medusa is definitely the anti rollbacks. As for the sound on Superman, that sounds a lot like the wheels running over the welds in the track. That's why it gets louder the faster the train is moving. If it's not the welds, then maybe one or more of the wheels are damaged and needs to be replaced, but I highly doubt that is the case.
  18. Yay! I was right about the nighttime spectacular, though they probably won't do the skating leprechauns. Oh well. I didn't see it explained anywhere, is the new simulator replacing Corkscrew Hill? If so, I don't know how I feel about that, I've gotten to like Corkscrew Hill. EDIT* Never mind, it answers my question in the video. I didn't watch all of it.
  19. ^^Believe it or not, that is actually a segment from the old cartoon. Every single episode had a PSA message at the end. That show was a disgrace to the entire franchise. Now the other Sonic show, Sonic Sat AM, that was a good show.
  20. I've got it! It's a new stage where they will put on a night time spectacular! It will be a great show with a giant Imax screen, fiery balloons, skating leprechauns, lots of fireworks, and an exploding statue!
  21. It's people like this that make my job as a ride op much more difficult than it should be. Why can't people just accept it that their child is too short for a ride and just bring them back later when they are taller. I've been cursed at, physically threatened, and been threatened to be sued by parents before. There are some people who just can't be rational. I understand it when a kid acts that way, but when the parents do it, it's very shameful. Such a great thing to teach your kids too, how to disrespect rules.
  22. This is looking very good. I always enjoy seeing low-budget amateur films, because most of the time they end up being better than what we get from the professionals. I personally can't wait to see your finished project. This makes me want to finally get started on my "shaky-cam" film.
  23. It's nice that they're building a new ride, and it's all well and good to make the name of the ride be a different language, but reading that name, all I(a person who doesn't know Latin) can imagine is a bunch of fat guys spontaneously combusting... Either way, I'm sure the ride should be good.
  24. Wow, that documentary seriously just brought tears to my eyes, especially the final pictures of the ride being torn down. It's just hard to believe that I will never be able to ride it again. My only wish is for whatever takes its place to do it justice. This ride was and always will be one of my favorites. I know I've said it before, but let me say it again. RIP BBW, goodbye my dearest friend...
