  1. Really!?!? Those screens are still very high resolution even for being 9 years old and the animation is super cute and fun. I don't even see it being "incredibly" out of date at all. I mean, one of my MacBookPro's that I use every day is only 2 years younger than those screens, and I'm going to assume that Disney used the highest-end tech possible at that time considering they were going to be touched thousands of times per day, so really I don't think they are that out of date at all! I honestly don't get where you're coming from on this one.
  2. Any word on whatever happened to the ride or did it just end up getting scrapped?
  3. Don't worry... I have a back seat POV that I haven't posted yet that has some commentary in it!
  4. Look what we just recently rode again: It's still not a "smooth" ride by any stretch of the imagination, but those newer trains do help make it more tolerable at least.
  5. Oh, and I see that this is just another obnoxious post by a troll under a different account we've had to previously ban. *sigh* When you are people going to learn that it's incredibly easy to figure out. Actually, I don't expect you to learn even if I point out everything you did obviously wrong, it still won't help... 1. You start off by asking a pretty rude and obnoxious question to begin with. 2. You don't even bother to mask your IP address. 3. Your posting style doesn't change from account to account you create. I seriously figured it out within 5 minutes of responding to your post. Try harder next time.
  6. First of all, we are not a "Disney" site so why would we be sponsored by Disney?!?! Secondly, if you would have used the search function on our forums you would have found this: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27861&p=234559
  7. Ahh, yes, of course! It's one of things things where, while the vertical transfer track isn't super common, it's common enough where I don't think I've never made note of rides that have them because I didn't think anyone would ever be looking for a list!
  8. Here's what I love about MK midnight closings. Tomorrow is a freaking SATURDAY during the holidays, it's going to be INSANELY packed during the day... BUT...I just made these three FP+ for tomorrow night RIGHT NOW... Before the new FP system if someone had asked me "Hey, do you want to go to Magic Kingdom on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend?" I would have told them they are out of their f**king mind and shot them in the face with a nail gun to remove their stupidity from the gene pool. But now, even if it is totally packed, I know I can get on at least three major rides without much hassle or wait, and also walk around the park and just enjoy it. People will be dumping out of the park after fireworks as I'll be walking in. I'm hoping that during your visit, which isn't a major holiday weekend, you'll have at least some pretty good luck getting FP+ even if it's day of after you've exhausted your other FP from whatever else you choose that day. And if not, the crowds shouldn't be *too bad* in those final couple of hours.
  9. Well that's awesome news because they did! Magic Kingdom now has a midnight close on Saturday and we plan to take advantage of it. YES! I totally forgot to post about that when I saw it but I was super happy that the park extended hours. It actually was the difference of me upgrading my pass to be not blocked out during Christmas even. As crazy as the parks can get during that time, as a local I know that between 9:30 - Midnight (post fireworks) MK can be so much fun to hang out at. As a non-local though, I'd still recommend coming in to do Happily Ever After!
  10. In no particular order: Euro-Mir Formula Rossa Olympia Looping Outlaw Run Lightning Rod Space Mountain Kumba Expedition GeForce Dueling Dragons Hollenblitz Honorable Mention: Tron Lightcycle Run (Last week of December 2016)
  11. Here's some recent drone footage they showed us a few days ago...
  12. Thanks. Much appreciated. There's a chance we will open up trips again, a bit more privately and quietly, and if anyone is interested, they should probably make an effort to email us, you know, to really show they have interest. Annoying people need not apply.
  13. What was in bad taste about it??? Personally I think Spaceship Earth looks the best it has ever with all the more recently added animatronics and the touch screen ending. Yes, it's been almost ten years, but I think it still holds up.
  14. Yeah, there are quite a few, really. Doesn't Avalanche at Blackpool also have one?
  15. Moving this thread to the main forum so that others can help out, too!
  16. Here is my stance. Feel free to re-tweet: [twitter] [/twitter]
  17. Lake Buena Vista (Dec. 18, 2017) – Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announce the renewal of their long-lasting relationship with the creation of a brand-new show to premiere at Disney Springs. The two entertainment companies first teamed up to bring La Nouba to the stage in 1998. Twenty years later, Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts are working together on a new project. The new show created by Cirque du Soleil in collaboration with Disney will draw its inspiration from Disney's heritage of animation. It will celebrate Disney’s legacy of storytelling in Cirque du Soleil’s signature way, with a tribute to the one-of a kind craftsmanship that makes Disney so extraordinary. “This long-standing relationship is built on mutual esteem and the success achieved by our two creative businesses throughout the past two decades with La Nouba,” said Tiffany Rende, Senior Vice President, Corporate Alliances and Operating Participants, The Walt Disney Corporation. “We look forward to our continued collaboration with Cirque du Soleil in developing this new show that will honor Disney animation’s rich history.” After paying homage to some of entertainment’s greatest artists, such as The Beatles and Michael Jackson, Cirque du Soleil will leap into the iconic world of Disney. Daniel Lamarre, President and CEO of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, added “We are incredibly inspired by Disney’s immense creative universe. We are convinced that bringing Disney’s magic to life on stage will touch audiences and bring them back to their childhood.” The curtain will close on La Nouba on Dec. 31, 2017. Since its première, La Nouba has entertained more than 11 million guests and has performed close to 9,000 shows. There have been over 2.8 million flips in the PowerTrack act and the wardrobe department has handled over 21 million costumes and headpieces.
  18. You do move to different locations, but that's all I'm going to say!
  19. To be fair, waiting for those fastpasses is arguably less painful and less frustrating that riding the coasters!
  20. This is actually a fair and very valid question. If it were up to myself or even myself and Elissa, we probably wouldn't go back. In fact, we have skipped this park the last two trips we have made to Japan because your description of it is pretty much accurate. BUT... for example this upcoming trip to Japan in June we are going to visit because... 1. We'll have new people who have never been, and... 2. They have something "new" there... So because enough people will want to go, we'll suck it up, get to the park ass early in the morning, one of us will "camp out" at the FastPass booth and get as many tickets as we can for our group when they become available, and once every one gets on everything at least once, we usually take a vote to see what time we end up leaving the park. It's basically making the best case scenario out of the worst possible situation. Again, another extremely fair and honest statement and I don't actually have an answer to that because you're 100% correct...
  21. This morning we attended the ribbon cutting and grand opening for "Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire" at Disney Springs. This is a Virtual Reality experience created by the folks at The Void who also created the Ghostbusters experience that you can find in New York City as well as other locations. This is a brand new experience and storyline written exclusively for this attraction. From the description we were given, here is how the story unfolds... A galaxy far, far away needs your help. In groups of four, be transported with family and friends into Star WarsTM: Secrets of the Empire. Under the orders of the budding rebellion, you and your friends will travel to the molten planet of Mustafar. Your mission is to recover Imperial intelligence vital to the rebellion’s survival. Alongside the pragmatic droid K-2S0, your team must navigate through an enemy facility walking into danger at every turn. Disguised as Stormtroopers, grab your blaster, solve puzzles, and fight giant lava monsters in an effort to complete your mission. tl:dr - You shoot a lot of stuff and "Star Wars" things happen in a very impressive virtual reality way! Here is the official trailer for the attraction: The experience and the "game" is great! Easily the best VR attraction I've done. I loved the targeting system with out accurate and responsive it was. You really feel as though you are transported into the Star Wars world and everything around you that you can touch and interact with becomes alive! There are even moments when you're standing on a platform with nothing else around you and looking down into an abyss that your brain tells you that DANGER is right over that edge, even though you know you're just inside a little room with nothing dangerous at all! It's just wonderful! Here are some photos from this morning... We are here bright and early for the ribbon cutting at Disney Springs! We are about to "Step Beyond Reality!" The four key members of each company involved say a few words and then... it's time for a ribbon cutting! And just like that, the ribbon is cut at the attraction is officially OPEN! The first thing you see is the "avatar selection" area where you must choose your Stormtrooper disguise. I honestly look much better as a Stormtrooper. The outfit is quite slimming, don't you think? Here's a look at the vest that you wear like a backpack. The technology is great because when you get hit by an enemy blaster, you do FEEL it! Here is the headset. It was quite comfortable, even when wearing glasses. Here I am all suited up and ready to go! The visuals during the experience are fantastic! When you step off onto those platforms, you really do feel like you are up in the air and your sense of balance comes into play so you don't fall over the side! The targeting system is FANTASTIC! Much better than any other VR I've done. The aiming, accuracy, and responsiveness really makes for the "game" aspect of it to be very realistic. And yes, you will encounter some familiar characters during your adventure! While this is a "production still" it give you an idea of the look of the blasters and probably the actual looks on people's faces as you reach out to see your own hands, shoot each other in the face (yes, you can do that! lol) and check out the VR surroundings! More information including how to book tickets can be found at https://www.thevoid.com/ and we do recommend it! Was a great experience! 22. About once or twice a year I have tried some experimenting with doing music videos again only to find they don't really have an audience anymore. Or, I should say, an audience anywhere as big as it used to be or as big as our "POV" videos. The sad reality is that the days of doing those style of videos is over, and trust me, that bums me out more than anyone...
  23. This is absolutely true. Case in point: The Marvel deal at IMG was done before Disney bought Marvel. And yes, Disney DID review everything and want some sign offs on quality of what went into that park after the fact, but deal was done, contracts signed, and Disney respected that. Now, that being said, I have worked on many video game projects that were licensed IPs where there was so much corporate political nonsense that the contracts didn't even get signed until the game was almost finished, so in the case that maybe the ink is NOT on the paper, that would be a huge issue, but I'm going to make the assumption that isn't the case here.
