  1. Great! So happy some of you guys are able to go! Please take lots of photos and post a trip report after the event!
  2. I would mark it as ridden. I had the same dilemma with Flashback/Boomerang (SFOT/SFSTL). Why would you mark a coaster that you haven't actually ridden? Just because it's in a different location? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. There are plenty of things that can happen or change when a ride moves from one location to another. Case in point: Taz's Texas Tornado > Zonga or Deja Vu > Goliath. Location, settings, operations, climate, alterations in hardware... all of those things can lead to a very different ride experience. I get that you want to mark it as ridden if you've technically "ridden it" in one place, but if you haven't ridden it in it's current location, in it's current configuration, then I don't think it should be marked on the ballot. Just my thoughts on this...
  3. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! King Louie’s Winter Walk-Thru is Saturday, February 24th from 10am -3pm. We had a great turnout from TPR last year and it would be awesome to see many of you attend this year! To confirm your attendance to this event, please send an email to: rhouse@kentuckykingdom.com with your name and and contact information. Please be sure to let them know you are from TPR. Here is what the event includes: - Free lunch - Souvenir KEY TO THE KINGDOM for each guest - Q&A with Senior Management - Tour of our Operations building and Command Base building - Tour of new ride locations in the park Please take lots of pictures and post a trip report to TPR!
  4. Do they slow down the load process? I actually haven't noticed at all since they were installed. When I rode it in 2007 shortly after the lap bars were installed, dispatches were abysmal. Everything else at Islands of Adventure/Universal was less than a 15-20 minute wait the day I visited except Ripsaw Falls. Ripsaw Falls was ~2 hours all day. Oh, sorry. I thought we were talking Splash Mountain. Yes, I've noticed this also at Ripsaw because those lapbars are awkward and weird. People have trouble getting into them. The Splash Mountain ones are simple and don't impact operations at all that I've seen.
  5. Do they slow down the load process? I actually haven't noticed at all since they were installed. Fun Fact! You wouldn't believe the amount of people they get who would jump out of that ride before the lap bars! It's scary to think that your average idiot person doesn't realize that it's a giant machine and has no problem at all killing you due to your own stupidity.
  6. Great America Needs Your Photos! Do you have any older photos of Top Gun/Flight Deck? CGA is looking for users to submit their photos of the coaster through the years if you have them for the upcoming 25th Anniversary of the ride. Please post them here! Thank you!
  7. Makes me wonder if it just wasn't a good enough ride to keep the locals coming back. We're so used to rides here in Orlando like Transformers and Kong that are, IMO, a "one and done" which is fine since many of the visitors are not from around here and are only riding these attractions once in a lifetime or once in many years. Whereas a park like BGW I'm sure has a much much higher "annual pass" locals population of guests, and while the ride was "ok" maybe it's just not something that kept people coming back after 13 years. It basically just overstayed it's welcome at the park. I do agree that while the ride was "fine" (although probably my least favorite of all the screen-based 'shake you around in a box' style dark rides) I'm not going to lose any sleep over it knowing it won't be there for my next visit, and if anything I think removing it just gives the park one less 42" ride where they don't have that many to begin with. So color me totally indifferent to this announcement. I've been on it a few times, it was "ok" but nothing I'm really going to miss. Ha! As I hit "submit" I knew there was another thing I was thinking that I couldn't put my finger on. That sentence above should have read.... and if anything I think removing it just gives the park one less 42" ride and one less indoor ride they could operate during inclement weather, where they don't have that many to begin with.
  8. I said the same thing. Honestly, when I see shit like this is makes me question if that is a ballot that should be thrown out or not. Also, I just want to point out that the same guy who claims that Verbolten is god-awful is also questioning why we aren't including Arrow mice. Yeah, something doesn't add up...
  9. That top 20 is not far off from what mine would be if I was ranking just US parks.
  10. Yes, coasters are still being added...
  11. People are upset that Busch Gardens "Christmas Town" is open on Christmas??? #dumb
  12. Welcome! Honestly, the TPR search is a really REALLY useful tool, it's just not very intuitive when it comes to it's features and how to use them.
  13. So here's a little ProTip! The TPR Forum search function is almost too good. You HAVE to use some of the filters to narrow down what you're looking for. Example... When I know there is a topic out there, I almost ALWAYS select "Search Topic Titles" and "Display Only Topics" otherwise you could get hundreds of responses. This took me about 5 seconds to find... And instantly the result was... I would strongly suggest using those "search topic title" functions more and more. It really helps using the TPR Forum search!
  14. Seriously, hop in the queue at 5 minutes before closing. Unless one of the theaters breaks down I've never waited more than 55 minutes doing this, even when it's posted at 180 minutes.
  15. Last night I took some friends from out of town to DAK and in the last 60 minutes of the park's operating hours we got in line for River Journey which was sign posted at 50 minutes and we were on the ride within 13 minutes. We got in line for Flight of Passage at 7:54pm and we were loading into the first pre-show room at 8:45pm. That was sign posted at 105 minutes. [twitter] [/twitter]River Journey's queue was about 1/3 of the covered area of switchbacks to give you some idea. I really feel that going to those rides at the end of the night is the way to go, as long as it's not an EMH night.
  16. You know what they say... if you have to ask what the price is...
  17. It was the poorly organized tours put on by "regular coaster clubs" that prompted us to do our own tours since we knew we could do better! (Let's be honest, it wasn't difficult to do better!) It's a shame that a few bad apples did ruin it for others, but as I said we never stopped doing our tours, we just changed how we went about doing sign-ups! I can already say that since we've made the post only a couple of hours ago, we've already had applications from some people who have been approved! So let's see how this little experiment of ours goes!
  18. And this is exactly how we are positioning the trips now. No more "death marches" or "credit whoring" like we used to do. More relaxing trips focusing on better parks with some time during the trip for people to explore when we go places like Japan, and we also encourage people to add on days to a trip, especially to further away destinations to see even more sights outside of theme parks & roller coasters.
  19. Yes, that is all we are doing this year.
