Vekoma acquired by Sansei Technologies
robbalvey replied to djackson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm more curious to see what will happen with relationships like the one Disney has with Vekoma. That relationship has helped Disney produce some of the best rides we've seen at their parks yet (Expedition Everest, Tron, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, etc) and a change in owners could impact that. We shall see... -

Usually when this scenario is presented to me my response is "Honestly, just choose for me. I really don't care and I'll probably have fun on either one!*" * Unless one of the choices is Gourderix or Hades 360 and it it's a choice between those two, just shoot me. -

I have to be honest, ranking coasters past my top 20-ish just isn't my thing. I'll have my top 25 and my bottom ten and everything is "in the middle." It goes back to my philosophy that any time spent analyzing a ride is better spent RIDING a ride... -

On my list I actually have Balder and T-Express being tied. At one point in time I think we had it as #1 on our list, but I wonder if that time has played a factor here as we have not ridden it since 2008, I believe. I remember liking it the BEST out of all the Intamin woodies but being ten years since we've last ridden it, it's hard to base a judgement when that much time has passed. It just means we need to get back to S. Korea again! -

I probably should give Helix another try but it really ended up being one of the most disappointing coasters I've ever been on, especially given the hype. And I wonder if it was the hype that perhaps made it disappointing for me. I actually far prefer Blue Fire and Velociraptor over Helix. -

What's weird about that statement is how WELL the AMC works at Disney Springs in Orlando. I mean, that theater is constantly PACKED with people to the point that they expanded it with the Dine In option years ago. They constantly have most theaters filled when a new Disney release comes out and I couldn't think of a better place south of El Capitan in So Cal to see a new Disney release than at Disneyland. I would say that it may be because there are tons of other movie theaters around Disneyland, but there are also tons around Disney Springs also. Either way, no lost sleep over a movie theater going away. It's just funny to me to read a statement like that which defines how different the Disney demographic is in SoCal versus Orlando.

https://www.ocregister.com/2018/03/27/heres-whats-closing-at-downtown-disney-to-make-way-for-a-new-hotel/ Several businesses that have anchored Anaheim’s Downtown Disney since it opened in 2001 will be demolished this summer, including the popular ESPN Zone, Rainforest Cafe and AMC 12 Theatres, to make room for a new 700-room hotel that will expand lodging at the Disneyland Resort. This is the largest renovation of the major shopping-and-entertainment district, which was created to accompany the expansion of Disneyland with a second theme park and the new Grand Californian hotel. The announcement marks a turning point as the destination moves from its former emphasis on attracting local residents to courting out-of-town visitors willing to spend money on a four-diamond hotel, experts said. Disney officials announced that the businesses would close by June 30, with demolition slated to begin in early July to clear the site for the new and as-yet-unnamed hotel, which will occupy 17 acres. It’s unknown at this point if any of the closed businesses will reopen elsewhere in Anaheim, though talks are ongoing about one or more reopening inside the new hotel complex. Here’s what is being demolished: - AMC 12 Theatres - Rainforest Cafe - ESPN Zone - Earl of Sandwich - Alamo Rent-a-Car - Starbucks (only the west side location) - Two Disney businesses – Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney Travel – will continue to operate in other resort locations. Essentially, everything on the Downtown Disney property west of the Lego store and Disneyland Drive will be demolished, until the boundary of the Disneyland Hotel is reached. Employees of the businesses were being notified of the impending closures on Tuesday, officials said. Gavin Doyle, author of “Disneyland Secrets,” said he was glad they weren’t waiting until the end of the summer to begin demolition. “People seem to be the most sad about losing the Earl of Sandwich (quick service restaurant), because it’s probably the least expensive and best tasting meal in Downtown Disney,” Doyle said. Although all the businesses are expected to close by June 30, some may close earlier, officials said. No date for the start of demolition has yet been set. Disney has yet to receive expected final approvals from the city of Anaheim for the new hotel, which is slated to include a monorail stop and a new restaurant-lounge that offers viewing of the Disneyland fireworks. Some 200 employees at the Disney-owned ESPN Zone sports bar will be offered bonuses starting at $500 if they remain on the job until the June closing date, and will also be offered severance packages and the chance to seek other jobs at the resort, Disney spokeswoman Suzi Brown said. “We appreciate their contributions and we’re working with them individually to explore opportunities at this resort,” Brown said. Disneyland Resort currently has three properties in Anaheim: The Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian and Disney’s Paradise Pier. Building a new hotel on the popular Disneyland Resort entertainment zone adjacent to the theme parks is “a no-brainer,” said David Koenig, unofficial Disneyland historian and author of “Mouse Tales.” “Everything they’ve built ‘inside the magic’ (entertainment area) is a guaranteed hit,” Koenig said. “If they could start opening up hotel rooms inside the (Disneyland Sleeping Beauty) castle, they’d do it.” Doyle said it makes sense for the AMC 12 Theatres to close, as the emphasis shifts from attracting local users to out-of-towners who spend money in hotels and on food. “A movie theater in general is just not anyone’s priority of top things to do at Disneyland,” Doyle said. “It’s smart for them to get rid of it.” A spokeswoman for the Downtown Disney location of the Rainforest Cafe chain was not immediately able to comment. The Earl of Sandwich shop opened in 2012 and has been a hit ever since, spokeswoman Amy Sadowsky said. She declined to comment on speculation that a new hotel might contain an Earl of Sandwich location when it opens, slated for three years from now. “We’re sad this is happening, but it’s progress,” Sadowsky said. “It’s a great new development that Disney is building.” Sadowsky said that the Earl of Sandwich plans to operate until the June 30 deadline, and its 69 employees will have the chance to be considered for jobs at Buca di Beppo, which is also owned by parent company Planet Hollywood International. “We’re hoping to keep people by encouraging them with pay,” Sadowsky said. Two job fairs are scheduled, including a Disneyland Resort Culinary Job Fair on April 16 at the Grand Californian and a Resort area job fair on May 3 at the Disneyland Pacific Hotel. They are open to the public.

Yeah... There are WAY too many people there for my liking. But hey, to each their own! At least the people are having a good time! Honestly, what is the POINT of your post??? Just to be negative??? Why??? Who needs to hear it? Someone made a post saying they are having a good time at an event tonight and your whole point was just to show your disapproval. Ugh, when people ask why I have just been flat out sick of people and their stupid comments more and more lately, this is a perfect example of why. We need fewer people like you on our forums and more like that guy posting he was having fun. There... I said it.

Part two of this report features some AMAZING looking food! This is just a warning if you're reading this while hungry, the following page of pictures isn't going to help! If anything, it will probably make you wish that Pixar Fest was here sooner than later! So what is Pixar Fest? It's a resort wide celebration of all things Pixar at Disneyland! Both parks will feature elements of the event including a new fireworks/projection show at Disneyland “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular”, the return of Paint The Night with a new Incredibles float at Disney California Adventure, and also the return of a long-time favorite "Pixar Play Parade" at Disneyland. That all sounds amazing, yes? YES! But one of the major focuses of this event will be an incredible (pun intended) amount of new food offerings scattered throughout both parks! Below is just a sampling of some of the amazing food you will find. And you have been warned, you WILL want many of these items RIGHT NOW but you will have to wait until April 13th! The event runs through September 3rd! [fbvideonew] [/fbvideonew] They gave me Toy Story ears and put me in front of lots of food! This is like a dream come true! lol And yes, there will be monsters... many of them! But onto the food! These "Alien Maracons" are one of the show-stealers! They are FANTASTIC!!! And not to mention insanely CUTE and I'm sure we will be seeing lots more photographs of these little guys floating around Instagram at some point soon! Another favorite was the Up inspired menu items This "TV Dinner" was amazing! Not only does it look great, but the food is delicious, also! OMG! The "Pixar Fest Cake" was probably my favorite of the items I sampled. It's three-flavors including Red Velvet! Seriously, this was FANTASTIC! The Pixar Cake Pop was delicious, too! Along with the Alien Macarons there were more Toy Story items as well. The "Cheeseburger Pizza" caught my eye! Probably my favorite "concept" was the Ratatouille three-course dinner! It comes with a cheese flight appetizer, a stuffed beignet for dessert, and your main course is none other than... Ratatouille! This will be served at my old stomping ground, Cafe Orleans! Coco inspired chocolate Churros! Yes, please! Yes, that is Mike Wazowski sourdough bread! lol Those are Incredibles themed "Jack-Jack Spicy Corn Dogs!" Jessie’s berry jubilee funnel cake will be available at the Stage Door Cafe. Some of the new items that will be served at the Lamplight Lounge which replaces Ariel's Grotto at DCA. One of those items is the latest trend... Tune poke! These Nemo themed sipper cups are really cute! “Toy Story”-inspired Green star pesto pasta. But really... that slice of cake... OMG! It was godly! Remember, Pixar Fest runs April 13 - Sept 3 at both Disneyland and DCA! We also got a look at some of the event merchandise... I love the look of the characters on this shirt! The event looks fantastic! All the new food offerings, entertainment, and merchandise are wonderful! Looking forward to covering this event when it opens next month!

I would love to go point by point and explain how insanely stupid and obnoxious your entire post is, but I don't think you are intelligent enough to even understand, so instead I'll just go with one of my favorite GIFs... Actually, no, I will say this... What I find ironic about your post is how a couple of years ago you made a post about how you were bashed at Cedar Point for your likes, beliefs and way of life. Now you are doing the EXACT SAME THING and being super rude and obnoxious towards those who enjoy Disney and like to stay at the Disney resorts. Maybe next time before you go berating a group of people for how they choose to enjoy life, you'll think twice about being so rude towards them. You could have made your same points without being such a complete rude condescending jerk towards Disney fans, but **YOU CHOSE** to go that route. And you remember how upset you were when other people chose to use words that bashed you? Yeah, you're doing the same as those people.
