This is what I'm talking about. Here is a press release that I got in from SeaWorld today... And this is all GREAT, and trust me, I *LOVE* the turtle rescue pics and news! It warms my heart to see this! But... Where is the news on the new ride? Where is the focus on SeaWorld being a THEME PARK? I just feel like I get an unbalanced amount of press releases like this one focusing on the animals. I really would love to talk about the park and the awesome rides, shows, and events, and even though we DID just do a great trip report on their Food & Wine Festival, I've not seen a single image or release on Infinity Falls since IAAPA. That just seems weird to me, right?

Geauga Lake Discussion Thread

No, no, NO it's not! Please, do NOT make posts on our forum if you are clueless to what you are talking about or if you aren't going to bother to take 30 seconds to look up the information before you come here and post "fake news" making yourself look just as stupid as the people who are contributing to that campaign. The way GoFundMe works is that you keep EVERYTHING. There is no stipulation at all to give money back if you don't make your goal. Like, it's right there are the GoFunMe FAQ page: Seriously this took me LESS THAN THIRTY SECONDS to find the answer. Again, how stupid do you have to be to make a post like yours which is totally incorrect without even bothering to fact check what you just posted? -

I'm not sure I want to know who or what "RotorMan" is, but it's nice to see people are already making fun of this on the guy's GoFundMe page! -
Geauga Lake Discussion Thread
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My favorite part in all these insane "Bring back..." or "Save the..." schemes is how nothing makes any sense and the people who have set them up don't even notice how insanely stupid and totally unprofessional it all comes across... "As of right now – this GoFundMe is set to only allow us to raise enough money to acquire the land." Which they have set at $20 Million. "Phase 1: Land Aquisition - $50 Million" (Acquisition spelled wrong on their GoFundMe, BTW...) "It is possible that we are able to acquire the land for as low as 12 million." So which is it? $20 million? $50 million? or $12 million? WTF!!! You just threw out 3 totally different numbers within two paragraphs regarding the same thing! I honestly cannot tell if this entire campaign is "Trolling? Or Just Stupid?" Probably both... -

Here comes another train wreck! https://www.gofundme.com/GeaugaLakeIsBack My favorite line from the video: "He's hoping to raise some twenty million dollars, could say he has a ways to go, in the three days the campaign has been up, he's raised a total of forty dollars." BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! You can even hear the reporter laughing while he delivers that sentence. I don't have much else to say about this... -

Do most coasters turn to the right?
robbalvey replied to ComeRideWithMe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Have you ever been to a park outside of Texas? -
Exactly. A park like Silver Dollar City, where Joel Manby came from, is constantly putting out interesting little videos about their new ride opening up this year. It's fresh in everyone's mind and anyone who is interested in theme parks knows all about it because the park keeps those people informed, even if you live halfway across the country. I live 4 miles from SeaWorld and I have COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN about their new ride because no one ever seems to talk about it, most certainly not the park. In the last six months I've had *ONE* email from SeaWorld about Infinity Falls. I've had at least a dozen about Time Traveler. And I am actually excited about that ride! But if it's not a priority for the park to talk about, it sadly falls off my radar as I'm giving my attention to other parks who are talking about their new rides. Again, IMO, this is part of the "problem" that is going on with SeaWorld lately. I feel like they have forgotten they are a 'theme park.' I mean, isn't SeaWorld San Diego also opening up a new roller coaster this year? I think I've had exactly ZERO emails about that ride in the past several months! No! No! No! God, NO!!! We have enough simulators here in Orlando... Please do not suggest any more!

Do most coasters turn to the right?
robbalvey replied to ComeRideWithMe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's a ridiculous question. Going to move this to the main forum so you can get some ridiculous answers. -
I have said over and over again since the whole Blackfish thing that the park really needs to go back to reminding people that they are a theme park and why it's a lot of fun to go there. If you look at their Twitter feed, it's hard to even tell they are a theme park and they come across more like an animal shelter or preservation group. Their Facebook page is a little better at least. But why aren't they constantly on their socials showing people what a great "theme park" they are and why people should be going there. I'm not sure the average person who walks through the turnstile really cares about the three hundredth and forty second manatee they've rescued. And I'm not saying those things aren't important, I just don't understand why as a "theme park" they focus so much on it. Yes, we get it, you are trying to prove to the world that "SeaWorld does good things despite what all those Blackfish assholes say." But nothing the park says is going to change those people's minds, and you're forgetting that people want to come and ride Mako, see the dolphin show, and play around in Shamu's Happy Harbor. THOSE are the things you should be constantly showcasing to people. Just my thoughts on the whole thing...

I'm sure it will be as it has been in years past where you don't have to be a Club TPR Member but we may offer Club TPR Members priority ticket sales or discounts. But we have not made any final decisions and we are still working with the parks on pricing. That being said, if you want to join Club TPR just to be able to help support the site, that's cool also! -
If you would like to represent TPR for a Great American Scream Machine media event on Friday, March 9th please send an email to robbalvey@themeparkreview.com Please include: - Your Full Name - Your Email Addres - Your Age - Links to any social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc) - Your TPR Screen Name You must be willing to addend the event, take photos & video and do a report on TPR later. We are looking for someone to cover this event ASAP so please email me if you are interested! Thank you!

Lakemont Park changes

The website just has this: Which at least show there is some "some sign" of life. Not sure what that means, though. -
Right, but remember what works well for you may not work for others. I have seen multiple people with the exact same height and weight as each other fit or not fit on the same ride based on how one person carries their weight versus the other. Elissa is absolutely right when she says "It's hard for someone to tell you for sure if you will fit or not over the computer." If you are a big guy, and you are doing a theme park trip, you have to be prepared that there will be rides that you will not fit on. And that's just the reality of the situation.

The Official TPR Video Thread!
robbalvey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes, but thankfully none of our videos were shady in any way like the videos they were looking to de-list and they were all basically "accidentally" demonetized due to their poor bot software and we've either got them all back or are in the process of getting them back. It was only about 10 of them to begin with anyway, so it wasn't even that huge of a deal. -
Suzuka Circuit Announces Duel GP.
robbalvey replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So many people are all "is this a coaster or not?" because you can see the track, but do people not realize this is *EXACTLY* what Test Track, Radiator Springs Racer, and Journey to the Center of the Earth looks like if you pulled up the floor? There is coaster track underneath it. It's just so funny to me how people get all freaked out over the coaster debate over visuals that they can see, but don't even think to bring it up over rides that you can't see how it works. Just a thought... This is why I don't count coasters anymore, because, really, who cares? Why not just focus on if it's fun or not instead of having to obsessively classify something? Although I guess for some of you reading this post, you now have three new "coasters" you can add to your list that you may not have realized had "roller coaster track" before!
